It looks and feels like it’s meant for a 5 year old now and makes the music harder to play compared to the old version. I’m fine if others like it but they should at least add the option to change the thickness of the rolling notes. Also the time played doesn’t always work. I’ve spent an hour of time in lessons and it just won’t count it. I then have to practice songs separately to maintain a streak even though I’ve been practicing for an hour. ### 3/5 — Latest update has broken the app for me *2026-06-14, version 1.47.0* Not sure what’s wrong but now anytime I try to play a song it seems to think I have to piano m’s connected and the sound cuts out completely. I learnt a song on the Roli by looking at the colours light up on the piano and when I went to my friends house to show what I learnt on an actual piano, their was almost no transfer of understanding. I would recommend this to someone that wants to play a piano version of guitar hero but that’s about it. ### 2/5 — Poorly structured, hostile to learners *2026-01-07, version 1.45.1* I’ve gone through a couple of cycles of attempting to use this app to develop piano skills, and it seems to be getting worse with progressive iterations. First, the lessons. They are all half-cooked. They say you’re going to learn a song, teach you a tiny part, tell you in the next lesson you’ll learn more, but the next lesson is a completely different song. Then, you land on a song you want to learn, and you go through a segment and want to practice that segment. Well you have to reset the entire lesson back to the beginning, and optionally fast forward to the segment you’re interested in, only to have it start playing immediately, causing you to scramble to pick it up. Repeat as necessary. Finally, it’s the end of the lesson, you want to get a score to see how you did, and practice the lesson. Again you have to press retry that takes you back to the beginning so you either have to wait through the entire damn lesson all over again or scramble to fast forward and deal with that. Again, next lesson something completely different. Then we get into what should be the killer feature of this app the ability to practice actual songs, for instance, flowers by Miley Cyrus. Given that in the lesson it advocates when you’re learning a song, you should take a part of that song and practice it over and over again until you get good at it and then go to the next section, there is no way to do this when you’re trying to actually learn/practice the song, forcing you into guitar hero mode rather than learning it correctly. This is a fantastic idea for a product, but the near complete lack of thought into the user experience makes it incredibly frustrating to use. ### 4/5 — Ok *2025-12-25, version 1.45.1* Cooler ### 3/5 — Latest update is worse *2025-11-12, version 1.44.1* Noticed that wherever I try to play the left hand part of a song when only using one piano m nothing shows on the screen. Plenty of fun things to do and really well guided. Intermittently i do notice delay issues when trying to play the jump platform game but it’s not a deal breaker. To make this a perfect experience it would be great if there was a Mac version as I don’t own a tablet, just an iPhone and Mac. Please consider making this available to Mac device’s. ### 2/5 — Sort of good, but tons of bugs really hurt the experience *2025-11-05, version 1.43.2* Got a couple of ROLI 24 keys to bring while traveling. I haven’t been real happy with most app based lessons - playing Rock Band doesn’t teach how to actually play piano - and was optimistic ROLI Learn might be better. The results have been… middling. There’s a little bit better connection between correlating keys/fingers with notes than Melodics, and the light up keys can be helpful. The song selection a lessons are comparable. It still doesn’t go far enough in terms of tying things in to actual sheet music, which needs to happen if this is meant as a genuine learning app. There also doesn’t seem to be a way to adjust input for visual/audio lag when using Bluetooth, which is a common feature for apps like this and a strange oversight (especially for people trying to learn correct timing). But the biggest problem is the bugs. Sometimes key presses won’t register and the song gets stuck. Keys won’t light up. Completed songs won’t be graded. The app outright freezes. The lessons skip, or won’t track properly. All of the above happened in a ten minute timeframe. These are fundamental problems, and this many bugs shouldn’t have made it through to production. ROLI needs to get this figured out for this product to be worth spending money on. Had I known, I would probably not have purchased this. Last up - why no Mac app? Tying Learn to an iPad isn’t what I really want, and ROLI already has Mac based apps supporting its products. Need to get that going as well. ### 3/5 — Meh *2025-11-03, version 1.43.2* Definitely good to learn from but it’s just too buggy to rate higher. Lessons can be out of time, and it seems like every lesson repeats the audio at the beginning. Lessons don’t progress because the keys do not register! I have to Ms so they aren’t the issue. ### 1/5 — Working fine until we got the air wave. *2026-01-10, version 1.45.1* The Piano M was working fine until we got the airwave and we haven't been able to get the airwave to function at all properly since we've gotten it weeks ago. We've tried connecting and disconnecting as recommended but still nothing seems to work in the setup. There's no hand tracking that's working and we've submitted tickets online and emails to have this help resolved. Nothing on the knowledge base or FAQ seems to give us any hints as to how to fix this and nobody's responded in weeks from the company about how to fix us. Wow…I was wrong! Worse connectivity than ever! Pianos disconnected 5 times before I could complete a song. Just make the app work for Mac please!! That would solve every issue, then I could just plug the stupid pianos in; rather than the mess that it is now. This company can’t complete a project before they move on to their next incomplete product. Just look at the roli blocks that they gave up on. Just waiting for another rebrand & another weak apology from the CEO. You guys make great products, but have the worst support & customer service I’ve dealt with in years. I have been trying to reset my password but it reload to the main sales page. I tried to put in a support ticket and the same thing happens. I even tried to create a new account. Enough that you could learn a lot of stuff without paying more. Now the only free content is twinkle twinkle little star and everything else is in the subscription service. This was not a condition to use the keyboard when I bought it. On my desk ALIVE!! *2025-12-11, version 1.45.0* Worth the wait! I was slow to get it out of the box thinking it would take awhile to figure out the AIRWAVE. Ha…. Plugged it in and it went right to work! I still need time to dial it in and have many questions but like anything it takes a bit of effort to get comfortable. Hooked it to a new iPad and the Learn Piano and AIRWAVE are working fine in the LEARN app. I think i botched the payment marriage to my learn app so I paid for a month to get it going after a year membership payment went somewhere but not on my account yet. I’m sure that can be sorted out as we go along. My next question to get answered does equator work on an iPad? I have it on my Mac. Can I just usb wire to the MACi Mini while the AIRWAVE is plugged into the iPad.
