It’s a huge pain for my employees. Also, report exports are pretty bad; spent more than a year with bad data in my P&L because the report doubles some taxes. ### 1/5 — Never Actually Got to Use It *2025-05-19, version 3.2.93* This service lets you get just far enough that you complete the registration process, but if you don't have your withholding ID number yet you can't make any progress. But they are more than happy to start billing you and running any trials before you can utilize it. I would have been using this service for payroll if I'd actually been able to utilize the trial period. I reached out to customer support and they were unable to assist me. What is the point of putting an email address if you will not electronically notify people they have a 1099. So much additional work needed on my end not worth h to e costs ### 1/5 — Terrible option for payroll *2025-01-18, version 3.2.80* There’s no customer service outside of AI chat bots that are unhelpful. The ADP roll app is a complete waste of time for business owners. Switching to a new payroll system asap. ### 2/5 — Unable to receive help *2024-12-10, version 3.2.80* I’ve been with Roll for little under a year. It’s ok until some issue or glitch that either messes with your payroll account or ability to get into the system. The issue is it is difficult to get to a human customer service representative to troubleshoot shoot. The AI can only help with common issues. I am a small business owner but we don’t have time to deal with week long issues, being bounced around on the phone or not being able to run a payroll on time. I suggest pay for a regular service that has a customer service line accessible. ### 1/5 — App not functional 9/13 - Current *2024-09-14, version 3.2.80* The app isn't opening. Is the app non functional on weekends? I wouldn't know or be able to ask the "24/7" chat feature because the app won't open. ### 1/5 — Just nothing but problems *2024-06-28, version 3.2.80* I’ve had this service for about 6 months and it has been absolutely terrible . I try and schedule a payment with them for Friday and they are always causing me to go negative in my account because they want to pull all your funds Thursday in the morning instead of Friday when it comes pay week Friday . Then , when I wait to do same day pay for my Contractors , I get a multitude of problems ! They say I have insufficient funds to cover that charge which I do and I go to the help department show them that I have sufficient funds to support my payroll and then they tell me I have to wait and it’s happened pretty much every week I’ve done pay . Then, when I do pay for same day deposits , it won’t go through until Monday ! Which is dumb because I submit my payroll hours before the cutoff time for the day and I pay an extra 3 dollars for them to do same day when clearly it’s not same day anymore now 🤣. I’ve had these problems for all 6 months I have been with them and at this point it is absolutely ridiculous and if you need any help from the banking team pushing through the money then it probably won’t be until Monday when they come back because they leave at 5 and are not available on weekends . I’m fed up with this service which I liked overall but they way they pay my people is ridiculous and my contractors have family’s that they need to support ! Again absolutely ridiculous. ### 1/5 — Garbage *2024-05-17, version 3.2.76* Too difficult to operate from a pc . This IPhone reliance is GARBAGE . Make this trash service easy to operate from a PC tech clowns !!! ### 3/5 — No Control *2024-05-01, version 3.2.76* The entire app leaves you at the mercy of an AI chatbot that hides your payroll data behind a chat window. You must converse with a broken AI that provides you with optional answers. For instance, if you request to change a check date to sooner, if will offer you to change it for two months later with no option to cancel that conversation. Absolutely trash. I’ll be switching back to standard payroll, this is a terrible terrible design. ### 1/5 — Clunky interface *2024-03-22* It took forever to set up, then it has made errors. It missed processing my payroll this month, even though I have screenshots showing it should have processed. Customer assistance is basically non-existent. Thank you. ### 1/5 — Go with a different service *2024-03-15, version 3.2.76* I downloaded Roll by ADP because I wanted to run payroll for my S Corp. Intuit’s prices have been steadily increasing and this seemed like a good option based on YouTube reviews. I filled everything out, including sensitive financial information and power of attorney forms, then every time I logged in after that it started me from scratch as if I had never registered. I had an email from my bank confirming that Roll was connected to my business account. I emailed customer service because my two help chats in the app were not helpful. Customer service said they had no record of my name or my company. The next day, all of my corporate information appeared properly in the app, but it repeatedly says that they are still finalizing my company setup and to try again in a few minutes. This has now been going on for a day and a half. Not sure when those few minutes will end… This concept has so much potential, but it simply doesn’t work in its current form. I’m going to give it one more day and then I’m going to cancel and go with a more expensive service. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — App is a mess *2026-07-04, version 3.2.101* Despite asking many times for a quarterly report so I can file with the state, this app is unable to retrieve one. I am also being asked to login repeatedly and there is nothing I can seem to do to stop this. I think I need a different payroll service. They ran a 177k payroll in error after I was given confirmation that it was voided. Now they won’t give me my money back for 3-5 days for me to run the correct one. Zero customer service except chat and I’m not even sure they are human. ### 1/5 — Black screen *2025-10-03, version 3.2.99* The app hardly opens normally. I kept just seeing a black screen and could not get into my profile. ### 1/5 — Worst payroll app I have ever used *2025-08-28, version 3.2.99* I have used 3 different payroll apps and never had the issues I have had with Roll. To start you have to input employee information in a chat like format, which takes longer to setup and then to change one item it makes you answer all of the questions again. I cannot begin to tell you how slow and annoying and time consuming this is. It also did not properly account for my employees deductions and I could not manually override it to fix it - nor could they, resulting in delayed payroll. Do not recommend.
