## What is Roll Disposable Camera?

Roll is a disposable camera for the digital age. Load a roll of 12 shots, capture what matters, and wait for your photos to develop — just like real film.
No filters. No previews. No infinite retakes. Every shot counts.

HOW IT WORKS
Start a roll (1, 6, 12, or 24)
Shoot without seeing your photos
Wait for your roll to develop
Discover your moments all at once

WHY ROLL
In a world of endless scrolling and perfectly curated feeds, Roll is a reminder that the best moments aren't optimized — they're lived. The constraints aren't limitations. They're freedom. No previews keep you present. The wait makes the reveal feel like opening a gift.

### 5/5 — A blast from the past

*2026-04-16*

I am loving this app! It is a fun nostalgic throwback. The viewfinder feels like you are looking through a disposable camera. The limited camera roll makes taking pictures with your phone feel more intentional. Also really love not seeing the photos right away and feeling a similar excitement to waiting for your roll to be developed at the 1hr photo.

### 5/5 — Absolutely delightful

*2026-04-15*

I’m already on my second roll and having so much fun using this app! Simple, easy, and produces high quality photos that really match what you think of for disposable cameras. Love that it even supports a dark mode and light mode too.

### 5/5 — So refreshing to see a “real” concept in a fake world.

*2026-04-14*

I looove how small the viewport is… makes it even more of a surprise to see how the photo “turns out”.

Such a cool, true, and classic concept in a weird and fabricated world we live in these days.

### 5/5 — A very charming app

*2026-04-14*

This app surprised me. I love disposable cameras but often forget to take them with me in the moments I want them most. I started using this in those moments and found myself taking more intentional and sentimental photos, more similar to those I’d take on a film camera. Needing to fill a “roll” before getting to see any of the images was actually so exciting. And I found by the time I got my images back I had forgotten about some of them and it mimicked that same feeling of warm memories you get from a roll of film.

### 5/5 — Love the nostalgia

*2026-04-14*

Great app. Reminds me of spring break 2002 with my disposable camera.

### 5/5 — A refreshing way to be more present!

*2026-04-14*

Such a fun throwback! 📸 I love how this app makes you take the photo and keep living instead of stopping to check, retake, and overthink everything.

Not seeing the pictures right away is the best part. It brings back that surprise and makes the whole experience feel more real, spontaneous, and in the moment.✨

Super simple, fun, and nostalgic! 😎

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.7 — 2026-08-12

Mainly bugs fixes, specifically on video/shorts were broken.

### 2.6 — 2026-07-31

Home Screen widget, Shoot & Share, and new film looks.

Add Roll Capture to your Home or Lock Screen — one tap to shoot, always see how many shots you have left. On iOS 18+, add Roll Camera in Control Center too.

Home is clearer: Shoot for rolls and the camera, Share for carousels and rolls ready to post.

Three new film looks: Fade, Grain, and Summer. Camera zoom is easier too — tap the zoom chip for quick presets.

Carousel maker is richer: more layouts, text, textures, and clips.

Still private. Still on your device. Still for the moment.

Update, add the widget, and let the good times Roll.

### 2.5.1 — 2026-07-16

Carousel maker — from your gallery.

Open a developed roll, tap Share and build an Instagram-ready carousel right in Roll. Shuffle layouts, rearrange frames, add text, then save the slides to Photos and post.

Same photos. Same film look. Made for the feed — without leaving the app.

Still private. Still on your device. Still for the moment.

Update, share a roll as a carousel, and let the good times Roll.

### 2.5 — 2026-07-14

Short Clips are here.

Hold the yellow shutter to capture a 3-second clip. Let go early to stop. Each clip uses one shot on your roll — same finite film, same no-preview rules.

When your roll develops, clips play with a warm Super 8 treatment (grain, flicker, imperfect charm) alongside your film look. No generative AI.

Still private. Still on your device. Still for the moment (not the feed)

Update, hold, and let the good times Roll.

### 2.4 — 2026-06-03

Three new film looks when you develop a roll: Fade, Grain, and Summer.

Camera controls are easier to reach: flip camera sits next to aspect ratio at the bottom, and the shutter is a bit smaller so it stays out of the way.

We also improved how Roll asks for notification permission so you can get a heads-up when a roll finishes developing.
