It works; but, pictures are not all that inspiring.
28 May 2026: The developer sent me a note based on my evaluation. He is gradually making changes despite this being a solo-developed app effort. I still reserve my opinion; but, continue on a daily shot to see what the effort is doing and allowing in captures. I’ll bump to 3 stars for now based on reply and explanation.
18 May 2026: This is a great idea, especially the premise of sharing ‘today’s shot’ and seeing whose is best; but, I don’t know how these are posted other than by manually sharing like all other photos. Some “rolls” of daily film are just really bad being too washed out by the ‘characteristics’ of the roll/filter. The rolls do not seem to be labeled according to type or filter making it difficult to title other than by the date. Maybe the app will be improved over time; but, for now, I would hold it in storage because it will not be a goto camera of choice.

Response from developer
Thanks for downloading Roll and taking the time to leave a review. Roll is intentionally not designed to be a main goto camera app, but more of a creative tool focused on experimentation and unpredictability, similar to shooting real film where not every roll turns out perfect. I’ve now added a library in version 1.1 where you can revisit previous photos and see which rolls and filters were used for each shot. I’m also considering adding an official hashtag for sharing daily shots in the future to make the community aspect easier and more visible. As a solo developer, I’m continuously improving the app based on feedback like yours, and hopefully if you give the latest version another try, the experience feels a bit better now.
Really good!
Genuinely a really good app. I just wish there was a library for the photo you take every day and which film it was taken with. Already addicted and with some updates I think this app could be great.
Interesting take. Great filters
Absolutely loving this app. Pushes a narrow scope for creativity, which is a great challenge. I loved all the effects (rolls) provided so far. How many rolls are going to be there, I wonder 😅
very very cool
brings that feeling back. reminds me of huji but better.. animations could use some work but i know this is early days. also a library in the app would be nice but im sure that takes up space. for what it is, its nice.. a time/date on the pic would be wavy. okay now i’m just giving out free advice. anyways its good.

Fun app 2010 style
The app reminds me of all the fun apps we used to have in 2010.
