## What is Rolly and the Lost Lexicon?

An adventure where spelling is spellcasting.

The world's words are fading. Null the Unspeller has shattered the Great Lexicon, and letters are raining from the sky. As Rolly (a brave little adventurer with a word-boomerang), you set out to gather the scattered letters, weave them back into real words, and light the world up again.

In Rolly and the Lost Lexicon, the words you know ARE your power:

* LETTERS ARE LOOT. Monsters and chests drop letters. Collect them into your satchel and weave them into any real word to earn XP and grow
stronger — rarer letters are worth more.
* SPELLING IS MAGIC. Solve definition riddles at Word Shrines to unlock nine spells — a fire bolt, a dash, a heal, a shield, a whirlwind, a deep freeze, and more. Cast them by spelling
   the answer.
* EVERY WORD TEACHES. A built-in Lexicon holds 3,000 words with clear, kid-friendly definitions and their part of speech, a daily Word of the Day, and synonyms and antonyms for
the core vocabulary. There's even a quiz corner for coins.
* A REAL ADVENTURE. Explore a meadow hub, a village, a whispering woods, cinder caves, a sunken marsh, and the Tower of Silence. Battle bosses, clear dungeons, help villagers
remember words they've lost, and chase down runaway letters — then face Null himself, whose shield can only be broken by spelling a word mid-fight.
* GEAR UP. Find weapons, hats, glasses, boots, armor and rings, and build your own Rolly with a live stat-compare menu.
* MORE WHEN YOU'RE READY. A five-floor postgame dungeon with five named guardians, a hidden optional boss out in the deep water, word-titles to earn, and a fourth difficulty
   unlocked by finishing the story.
* MADE WITH CARE. Hand-crafted pixel art and an original soundtrack, four difficulty levels, dyslexia-friendly text and text-size options, and no way to lose your progress.

For parents and teachers:
* NO ADS. NO IN-APP PURCHASES. NO DATA COLLECTION. The game is fully offline and never asks your child for anything. What you buy is the whole game.
* It quietly builds spelling, vocabulary, and reading confidence while kids think they're just playing an adventure.

Grab your boomerang. The Lexicon is waiting to be found!

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.1.0 — 2026-08-05

NEW: THE SECOND READING
Finish the story and you can begin the game again in a harder world. Rolly starts over at level one with no equipment and foes are more challenging, but every word he ever wove comes with him, and he half remembers the journey like a fading dream.

NEW: CUSTOM CONTROLS
A full Controls screen. Rebind twelve actions for keyboard and for controller, and every hint in the game learns your new buttons.

NEW: A GENTLER START
A new game now asks a few questions about how you like to play, then teaches you one thing at a time, in a meadow that will not hurt you until you've learned the controls.

NEW: A RICHER EXPERIENCE
Separate volume sliders for music and sound, and a Screen Shake switch. New sounds for spin attacks and critical hits, and a third tier of praise when you weave especially valuable words.

NEW: MONSTERS REPOPULATE AREAS
The areas throughout the game now slowly repopulate with creatures, so stages never feel emptied.

ENVIRONMENT UPDATES
Added variable rain and drifting fog to the town and meadow areas.

FIXED
* Menus no longer run off the edge of the screen at larger accessibility text sizes. The Items and Equip lists were the worst of it, and both are rebuilt.
* The save slot panel no longer covers the Word of the Day on shorter screens.
* Rolling credits rebuilt, without the spoiler that used to slip in.
* Higher difficulties are genuinely harder now, and bosses can really defeat you.
* Several small graphical fixes.

ALSO: a new app icon, and a new title for anyone who reaches three hundred words!

Still no ads, no in-app purchases, no accounts, and no data collected. This game never needs the internet.

This was a big update... thanks for playing, and for your support!
