## What is RookFlow?

A map of grappling, in your hand.

RookFlow is the GrappleMap: 601 named jiu-jitsu positions and 1,733 moves between them, drawn live in 3D, in an app that works with the radio off. A position is a place. A technique is a road. What you can do from where you are is exactly the map's edges.

It opens on a gym, and its rooms are doors. The mat holds HELM, DRILL and ROLL; the office keeps your game plans, the weights room your training log. Long-press to move the rooms around.

THREE DOORS ON THE MAT

HELM — You are halfway through a roll. See what you can do from here. The moves out of the position sit under your thumb: drag one through its real keyframes, let go past halfway and it commits. Switch on Handles and the body is the menu: pull a joint, take its move. Or search the 601 by name, tag or the source it was checked against.

DRILL — Pick a chain. Rep it till it's yours. Moves on a loop, with a rep counter and a goal. Five classics on the shelf, or make your own from any two positions. Half speed, mirrored, step by step. Switch the voice on and it calls each move by name, so the phone can stay by the wall. Send a chain as a link, or as a video.

ROLL — Five minutes. Somebody's gotta tap. Two people sparring through the map, with a broadcast scoreboard and a coach's notes. In the academy, a real gym shot in the round, as Dummy, Stick or Shonen.

RECALL

Recall hides the next move and asks you for it. What comes back is what you own. Each rep grades itself by how fast you answered, and a spaced-repetition schedule (FSRS) says when the chain comes back. One reminder a day says what is due. The home-screen widget shows today's reviews and your streak, and at its larger sizes you answer them right there.

THE REST OF THE BUILDING

• Training log: classes, open mats, competitions. What you worked on lights up on the map, and what is going cold comes back to you.
• Game plans: what you go for from a position, and what you switch to when they stop it, grown one move at a time. Drill a branch, or send the plan as a link.
• The clock: rounds on the bags, circuits on the turf, breathing in the zen room, seven in all. Keep your own setups. The bells play over your music.
• The dojo: warm up, drill, roll, three half hours on one clock. Follow it through and you have taken a class.
• The wrestling room: the standing part of the map, until a takedown lands. Then a handshake, and again.
• The rooftop: where the device can do AR, the mat stands on your own floor, at full size.
• The ladder: training pays points, points climb levels, and levels and feats give your gym paint, decor and new looks.

OFFLINE, AND HONEST ABOUT IT

• The map ships inside the app. Nothing loads.
• No account needed. No ads. No tracking.
• Without an account, four things leave the device, and none says who you are: a short note each time the app opens, a crash report if it crashes or gets past an error, anonymous usage statistics (which screens are opened, and twenty-eight things done in them), and the GrappleMap repository's star count on the credits screen. The first three can be switched off: scroll below the gym and tap Privacy.
• Without an account, your log and plans are never sent.
• The map is Eelis van der Weegen's GrappleMap, in the public domain. We added 248 moves: 25 cut from Harmony4D's motion capture of real sparring, and ways out of the positions that had none. Each was watched before it went in.

iPhone and iPad. On iPad, landscape puts the position beside its moves. On iPhone, a running clock counts down on the lock screen.

RookFlow is an independent tool, not affiliated with or endorsed by any federation or academy.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.16.0 — 2026-10-13

At blue belt, your gym opens beside RookFlow HQ: you name it, and the ladder builds its rooms there.

• Already blue? It opens for you too, and stripes and belts grow its ground.
• Signed in, your progress and both gyms come with you to another phone.
• The shop shows at a glance what is yours, what is next and how to get it.
• Dark is now the default; a theme you picked stays. For Light or Auto, tap Sky at the foot of the gym.

### 1.15.0 — 2026-10-09

The daily reminder names the move of the day; tap it, or the widget, to drill it.

• Injured? Pause your streak from the reminder, and end the pause early.
• Common positions say what they are in plain words, in HELM and on a long press in recall.
• Left idle, the gym shows itself, room by room. HELM draws the pair in your room and look.
• More screens fit at the largest text sizes, and RookFlow now speaks Indonesian.

### 1.14.0 — 2026-10-05

Earn belts and stripes as you train, from white to black.

• Back up your belt with an optional Apple or Google sign-in. No account needed.
• Recall a chain without a miss, then challenge a friend to beat your time.
• A move of the day, the same for everyone, in the gym and on the widget.
• Guided paths in DRILL: Fundamentals, then Escapes, Passing and From the feet.

### 1.12.0 — 2026-10-02

Set how many days a week you train, and share links a chat can preview.

• The ladder asks how many days a week you train: 2, 3, 4, or 5 or more. Each week is judged by the target it had, and the weeks you meet it in a row add up. Logged sessions and finished classes count.
• Fairer counting: a class you skip through is no longer a day on the mat, a phone clock set right again no longer costs you today, and a room's clock the phone closed while it ran still counts when you next open RookFlow.
• Shared links get a page of their own, so a chat can preview them. Without the app, the page names what was shared, with the map a tap away in your browser. A game plan's name and moves never reach our site.
• Meet a goal in DRILL and RookFlow may ask what you think of it. Rate RookFlow opens the store's review page whenever you like.
• After your first goal, DRILL offers a daily reminder at the same time tomorrow, once.
• Recall shows a chain once before it asks a move you have never drilled.
• The ladder slides open more smoothly, and the Level up card waits until a screen has closed and you have finished editing. In AR, the row along the top keeps clear of the close button at large text sizes.

### 1.11.0 — 2026-10-02

The ladder opens on your gym now, and the tour pays 25 points.

• The ladder opens on a picture of your gym: your rooms on their plot, the rooms still to come around it, and the bigger plot it grows into.
• Under it, the five stages from Garage to HQ are stops on one line, gold as far as you have come.
• New and Next up show the things themselves, each on a card with the shop's own picture of it.
• Feats are badges: a ring fills as each one comes along, and a tap shows what it asks and what it hands over. On a tablet, the ladder has two columns.
• The ladder's pictures fade in once it has slid open, so the slide stays smooth.
• Finishing the tour pays 25 points, once: +25 rises off your level on the gym as it ends, and if they make a level, its Level up card waits until they have risen. Took the tour before this version? How it works offers it again, with its 25 points.
• Bug reports come to us now: Send opens a mail to us in your own mail app, with the report written in and the picture of the screen attached. Change the address or throw the mail away if you like; nothing goes until you send it. Turn off its new switch, Send a picture of the screen, and the picture stays out. With no mail app set up, Send opens your share sheet instead, or with no picture, copies the report to your clipboard.
• The gym stops the moment a sheet or a card opens over it, so the opening has less to draw.
• Under a sheet or a card, the gym now holds still as a picture of itself, so sheets slide in more smoothly.
• Picture has left Settings: every device draws on Automatic, which gives up shadows and glow before it gives up frames.
• In AR, ROLL's position name keeps clear of the buttons along the top.
