## What is RookFlow?

A map of grappling, in your hand.

RookFlow is the GrappleMap — 601 named jiu-jitsu positions, 1,485 transitions between them and 7,722 hand-placed keyframes — as an app that works with the radio off. Every position is a place. Every technique is a road. What you can do from where you are is exactly the map's edges: nothing made up.

Pick any position and see what is actually possible from it. String moves into sequences. Or just watch a match play out, move by move, at your own pace.

THREE WAYS IN

HELM — You are halfway through a roll. Explore all possibilities. The live pair on top, every legal continuation in the thumb zone below. Drag a move to scrub through its real keyframes; let go past halfway and it commits. Set a destination and follow the route there.

HANDLES — The body is the menu. Grab a joint. No list of moves: every joint with somewhere to go is tinted, and touching one draws the paths it takes as trails on the figure. Navigate the database by grabbing a limb.

ROLL — Five minutes. Somebody's gotta tap. Two people sparring their way through the map, a broadcast-style scoreboard, and a coach's notes in the corner.

FIND ANYTHING

Search all 601 positions by name, tag or citation. The filter chips only show tags that would actually split what you are looking at, each with the count you would keep — 161 tags, no taxonomy to learn. Every position lists its sources: the books, videos and instructors it was checked against.

3D, ON DEVICE

Both grapplers are rendered live from any angle. Rotate, zoom, step through a move forwards or backwards. Roll in the academy, a real gym photographed in the round, or in the dark room. The pair can wear the Shonen look, inked like a manga.

OFFLINE, AND HONEST ABOUT IT

• The map ships inside the app. Nothing loads, nothing syncs.
• No account. No ads. No analytics. No tracking.
• Two things ever leave the device, and neither is about you: an anonymous crash report if the app crashes, and the GrappleMap repository's star count on the credits screen. Offline, a dash appears where the number would be.
• The data is Eelis van der Weegen's GrappleMap, in the public domain. RookFlow renders it exactly as written.

Put the roll in your room. Point the phone at the floor, tap, and the pair are there at full size.

• AR: a three-metre mat or the cage, on the floor or the table. Pinch to scale, drag to move. The camera never leaves your phone.
• Helm lays every move out at once, as a grid of cards.
• The referee's reset puts both back on their feet, centre of the mat.
• Phones on older graphics drivers get their frames back.
• Crashes report themselves now, so they get fixed.

### 1.6.0 — 2026-09-06

The pair are drawn on the GPU now: real bodies, real light, sixty frames a second.

• Roll in the academy, a real gym photographed in the round. The dark room stays.
• Shonen, a new look for the pair, inked like a manga. It comes with the app.
• The roll has a replay camera and a strip that winds back the last ten seconds.
• Helm opens on the feet, and a busy position folds its moves into groups.
• Light, dark or automatic: a theme button in the settings fan.
• A frame-rate gauge in the settings fan.
• Counter is retired.
