It would have been nice to find that out before spending all that time and energy on setting up my account. So…. 0 stars. Simply because all I get is a white screen. ### 1/5 — FRAUDULENT *2022-08-24, version 1.2.1* This app is filled with fraud and scammers. People giving you sad stories as to why they need a roommate so you feel bad and then taking your money. DO NOT use this app. ### 1/5 — Not working *2022-08-12, version 1.2.1* I try to log on and it acts like it’s working but then just stops and remains at entry screen or goes to white screen. I did my profile set everything up just for it to tell me that there wasn’t enough people in the area I’m looking (Austin, Tx). It told me to give it a few days and people will reach out. 2 people did but I didn’t think i would vibe with them so I didn’t respond. Since I didn’t respond the app deleted my entire account. ### 1/5 — Address locator doesn’t work *2022-05-11, version 1.2.1* I tried putting in the city where I was looking for an apartment and roommate, but I got a weird error message: “City size must be between 1 and 3”. I tried different formats (just the city, city+state, just the zip code), but nothing worked. I even put in “1” because of the error message, but it still didn’t work. I can’t even get started. ### 1/5 — Does this app work?? *2022-05-02, version 1.2.1* I can’t even enter in the city I want to live in! Keeps having the error “cities size must be between 1 and 3” …. what does that mean??? 1 and 3 million????? HELP! **Developer response:** Hey Helpthisgirl. I'm very sorry to learn about your frustrating experience with our app. To be completely transparent, we are experiencing some bugs and technical issues with the app and it's not working as intended. We hope you'll give us another chance once the app is working normally again. -Aaron ### 1/5 — Scammers! *2021-11-08, version 1.2.1* I was excited to find this app. Unfortunately, there seems to be a lot of scammers in this app. They all ask for some form of payment before even getting to view the place in person. I had one lady even ask for a picture of my ID (front and back) and my social security number before she would even consider letting me view the place in person. ### 1/5 — Scammers *2021-10-26, version 1.2.1* This site is loaded with scammers. Beware!!!! Be cautious… people are using gake names to get info i was a target. ### 1/5 — Is Aaron Ageist? *2021-03-04, version 1.2.1* Upon signing up, believe only a few people are willing to answer the numerous questions. Had issue with quality of “matches” as well? Found no way to delete my info from app nor quit using it, so sent request to do so. Apologize for hurting anyone’s feelings. Aaron responded: “I'm sorry that we weren't able to help you with finding a roommate. Our user demographic tends to be on the younger side (ages 20 - 35 or so). I will go ahead and delete your profile from the app.” Thanks for saying, in essence; you’re “too old” for our ‘selective’ demographic, old man. Found the response ageist & insulting. May be true, but calling anyone too old, too dark (or any another protected demographic) is blatantly insulting & inflammatory. SO if anyone is 36 or older, according to our email exchange; maybe this isn’t the right application for you. I’ve tried many other apps and websites to try to meet people, especially someone I could trust and potentially room with, due to the very high rent in the city. Other apps showed me people looking for a roommate, without any information about that person. I thought that was a little sketchy, especially because I would be living with this person. Roomaters is the first app I’ve seen that takes in to account a users personality. The personality test on this app is super helpful and led me to find my current roommate, who is also new to the city. We get along great and even formed a quarantine crew with our neighbors. Although we ended up finding an apartment to stay in without the help of Roomaters’, their apartment search feature is very cool and helped us understand the area better. First of all not only can I find a roommate but we can find our next apartment as well. All in one! My favorite part is their personality test created by a psychologist to help you narrow down the roommate pool and increase your odds of a successful pairing! This is genius and will help alleviate some of the unknowns before move in.
