Nearly every listing I’ve reviewed checked and analyzed spending countless hours looking a for a room only to find it’s yet another scammer, it shows clear scam indicators, such as requests for off-platform contact or entire apartments priced far below market value. At least 8 out of 10 were scams. The number of red flags makes Roomi very hard to trust. I wouldn’t use this app be warned. This is across the app and multiple browsers, so there’s no way for me to put up a listing. I simply can’t enter an address to make my listing. What a waste of time. ### 1/5 — Scams! *2025-07-14, version 6.13* I was scammed 3/3 tries. Do not use this app! Each time, I was asked for money to continue on in the “process” without even seeing the place or FaceTiming at least. Roomi, you owe me $100 for a “refundable” application fee I asked to be returned after being asked for $700 before anything. They’ve gone silent after I asked for my $ back, but of course were hitting me up every day when I was “thinking about it” and hadn’t sent any more $$. ### 3/5 — Google Maps API Broken *2025-06-13, version 6.13* Can’t create new listings because the google maps API isn’t working. Looks like you guys need to update your billing account for Google cloud services. Would love to use the app but creating a listing is broken…. ### 1/5 — Zero stars for zero support *2025-06-10, version 6.13* They charged a fee for ID verification and for multiple emails, but it doesn’t work. Also unable to post a listing. Email to support is restricted to one then is blocked from contacting support. This feels rackety no communication back from their team for 2 weeks now. Highly recommend not using the service or app. I will be making a complaint to the App Store and DNB. ### 1/5 — Insufferable app navigation *2025-05-16, version 6.13* I never really leave reviews on apps so you know it has to be god awful for me to actually leave one. The navigation is awful and very irritating. Also posting a listing is probably the most infuriating part as it does not let you move to the next step and won’t even tell you what’s wrong with the yellow or red box. ### 1/5 — Address bar with issues *2025-05-02, version 6.13* This company asks you to subscribe and pay 60/mo but it appears that their support staff does not respond to inquiries or ignore them. The address bar to put listing does not work whether using the app or on their website. ### 1/5 — Once awesome, not anymore *2025-05-01, version 6.13* There was some update to the app recently and it’s atrocious now. Posting a listing is impossible due to tech glitches, customer support is non existent, and the listings that DO exist are 98% scammers. Don’t bother downloading this one. ### 1/5 — Scams! *2025-03-23, version 6.13* I was able to find a room a couple of years ago with this app. Now, there are so many scammers on this app. And they all ask the same questions in the same order. “I suggest we discuss the details and requirements to get to know the due process.” “Do you own any pets?” “Why haha pets are adorable you know” “I accept pets as long as they are well trained if you decide to get one later” “How are you with guests and hope you are tidy and clean because I love my place to be well taken care of. No offense” “You seem cool and transparent” “I’m glad you understand”. And this is one of my favorites. “I'm leasing it to go stay at my mom's she sick old age you know.” “You need to be aware it’s a first come first serve situation because securing a place in nyc is tedious but I can secure it once a background check has been done.” And then they all somehow have “private investigators” and “attorneys” to do your “background check” while demanding $100. Even after I flagged their listings, somehow, they’re still on the app. ### 3/5 — very glitchy. *2025-01-28, version 6.13* Hello, i enjoy using ur app but ITS VERY GLITCHYYYY every time i click on a profile it reloads everything and it goes right to the top, removing my progress. i have to scroll all the way back down to where i started and that takes like ten minutes to do. i’ve tried using a browser but does the same thing. need to know how to block a user as well. ### 2/5 — made the app so much worse…? *2025-01-27, version 6.13* this app used to be great - I’ve found 4 different living situations from roomi between 2019-2022 and found it really helpful, but now it’s almost unusable 😫 super glitchy and can’t filter by neighborhood or other useful things which you used to be able to, and currently i physically can’t log in because the continue button doesn’t work, aka it’s fully unusable ### 1/5 — Waste of time and money *2025-01-21, version 6.13* This App will show you a weekly fee and then charge you a full month when you decide to purchase it. My niece found this out the hard way. ### 1/5 — THIS APP IS A SCAM *2026-06-15, version 6.14* LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE LISTING ON THIS APP IS FAKE I LOST $550 to this app because the landlords require a security deposit before you even meet. If you’re looking for a home and you’re desperate, than stay far tf away from this app, the room are too good to be true. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP, YOU WILL GET SCAMMED ### 1/5 — 404 Error *2026-05-01, version 6.13* Something has been terribly wrong with Roomi. I used to use this app to find roommates - but now I cannot even get into the app, for it only give me a 404 Wrror page. It’s sad, because Roomi once gave me two tee shirts with their logo on it for free, and I still have them! What happened, guys??? ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2026-04-24, version 6.13* First off, app gives a 404 page often and won’t let you click any buttons to navigate elsewhere. The location search feature doesn’t work at all, not in the app and not on the website. Results for Colorado USA show New York results. ### 1/5 — Scam *2026-03-23, version 6.13* Every listing on this app is a scam have filed a police complaint with the NYPD as well as the FCC. ### 1/5 — Is this whole app a joke or a scam? *2026-03-13, version 6.13* I posted a listing last week as I was urgently searching for a roomate, and contacted some potential candidates who seemed to be recently active. As I try to check responses the day after, I can’t access the website as they are “going trough some major update and offline for a few hours”. Fine. As I try to log in again after that, my password all of a sudden does not work, I try to the reset it and never receive the link (checked spam already, tried trough several browsers and app with the same bad result). Tried to contact customer support and messaging does not work. I was about to pay for verification and so glad I didn’t, but this feels infuriating nonetheless. The concept is good as there is such a need for a good platform to match good roomates and none of the existing ones are remotely viable. ### 1/5 — Glitchiest app I’ve ever used *2026-03-11, version 6.13* This app absolutely sucks. I’ve used it multiple times over the years and nothing ever gets better. Missed out on so many potential great roommates due to the issues. Haven’t received notifications or been able to reply in the past and most recently they did an update where you couldn’t access the app or website for a day and then when I logged back in it had made my account and listing in active (as well as all of the people I was talking to so now I can no longer chat with them). Embarrassingly bad! ### 1/5 — Scam *2026-03-10, version 6.13* There’s literally no way to cancel your membership. You have to delete your account. It’s also filled with fake or old listings. I contact 10 people and no one responded. At first, I thought it might be a scam, but I decided to give it a try and paid the $100 fee. A day later, the background check came back clean. However, not long after, I got a call from my parents telling me I didn’t need to rent a place anymore because I could move in with my aunt in New York. I reached out to the property owner, explained the situation, and thankfully, he was very understanding—he refunded the entire $100. That experience taught me the value of background checks and also showed me that there are honest people out there. A background check gives peace of mind and helps ensure you're making a safe and informed decision. ### 5/5 — Consistently worked great for me *2023-05-24, version 6.4* I’ve used this app to find a place to live and later to find roommates for my current apartment. I never paid for the extra features, yet I have always been able to find the right people for rooming/subletting really fast (within a day or a week at the most). I found my roommate through this app, we actually ended up in the same class as she transferred to my university by coincidence after that we were became best friends. I have had to find a roommate again and went back to Roomi. A lot of new features since I last looked for a roommate -mostly upgrades. I was able to find someone expected to move in in a few weeks! Thanks again Roomi!! I always recommend to friends looking for a roommate in a pinch. I used Roomi back in 2018 and had a great experience. When I went back more recently I saw some of the negative reviews, none from recently but still made me hesitate. But I was pleasantly surprised. Roomis AMAZING customer service helped me land the perfect roommate even in the midst of a global pandemic! This company listens to their Roomis and really cares! I was most impressed by the quick response times and desire to help me. Highly recommend giving this app a try!!! The boost feature DOES work despite some old comments. This app creator really listens to feedback. She was professional, thorough and customer centric. I had issues creating an account and she problem solved the issue not just during the week but over the weekend. It truly went above and beyond and I hope Roomi creates avenues for Karen’s professional growth. But I want to give a shoutout to their Customer Service team! Karen C spent the last month trying to help me figure out what was wrong with my account. Throw the holidays and everything, always checking in with me. Always wanting to make sure she did all she could to help!
