### 3/5 — No iPad app in 2026

*2026-06-11, version 1.79.413*

Needs to be compatible with iPad. Come on now, this is 2026. I know you can use the regular Roon app, but what if I want to listen to music on the go?

### 3/5 — Connectivity issues

*2026-05-15, version 1.78.409*

This app seems not ready for prime time. It’s great when it works, but works half the time. Was going to replace Spotify with this. Full disclosure, I only used Spotify for listening to music. It’s no where near able to be reliable

### 4/5 — iPad!

*2026-04-06, version 1.75.399*

Please please please add native iPad (and thereby M-series MacBook) support so we can FULLY enjoy Roon on the go!! 🙏🏻

### 4/5 — Great App, Needs Some Polish

*2026-04-05, version 1.74.391*

I love this app for managing playlists and saving music to my phone. One area that needs major improvement is battery use. This app for whatever reason just churns through my battery on a new iphone 16 pro. Maybe they should add a battery saver mode for online only use and no filters?

### 2/5 — More broken after each release.

*2026-03-27, version 1.74.391*

What can I say. This app is getting more broken after each release. List of issues wouldn’t fit here.

### 3/5 — No iPad app in 2026

*2026-03-27, version 1.74.391*

Needs to be comparable with iPad. Come on now, this is 2026. I know you can use the regular Roon app, but what if I want to listen to music on the go?

### 2/5 — No CarPlay

*2026-03-15, version 1.74.391*

CarPlay promised but not available for some reason

### 4/5 — Decent.

*2026-03-06, version 1.74.391*

The UI is great, very good looking, easy to use. It just HAMMERS battery. Easily 10% an hour, my phone is very warm when I’m playing music as well, I can’t fathom why, it seems to need some optimism.

Otherwise it can’t complain, it’s all I use nowadays.

### 2/5 — The Crash Master

*2025-12-17, version 1.71.379*

Great idea but this app is pretty bad at being stable. It crashes a lot and gets to a point where it can't even stay open long enough to even read an albums tracks. It just crashes in seconds over and over. So, uninstall it and reinstall it and maybe it works for a bit.

The other main issue is the inability to connect when out and about. Sometimes it works but really overall it doesn't for the majority of the times. It says can't find Roon server. That's the common experience with this app. There needs to be a lot of work done on the next update to fix these issues. I know others have a different experience but many have this one.

It is to the point I am considering cancelling Roon altogether as I'm not able to use it as I want to and given all I expect is it to work to play my albums when I'm out and not crash immediately or during a listening session.

### 2/5 — Works 50% of time

*2025-11-30, version 1.70.373*

I’ve been a roon user for 10+ years. Unfortunately arc only works about 50% of the time. Just like roon when in issue arises they expect you to understand IT jargon.

### 2/5 — Unreliable

*2025-10-23, version 1.69.369*

Very unreliable. Often can’t connect to the server on my home network when roon app can without problems. Downloads are disappearing and not showing in the view, files are there and storage is shown as consumed. Also individual albums are shown as downloaded.

### 4/5 — Requested Fix

*2025-10-20, version 1.69.369*

Please update the app to display higher than 1TB when setting up smart downloads. The slider doesn’t show 1.2TB, for example. Seems like a limitation that made sense until the introduction of the 2TB iPhones this year. Thanks!

### 3/5 — Loading never ends

*2025-09-26, version 1.69.369*

This app is pretty nice actually when it works but honestly it’s hit or miss mostly miss. Since the iOS 26 update it stopped working completely. One good thing is when it does work the sound quality is better than other apps. Hopefully they will fix it soon.

### 4/5 — Need to be able to download from Tidal or Qobuz

*2025-09-11, version 1.69.369*

Amazing app but data usage on the go is still the biggest hurdle when you can’t download from Tidal or Qobuz when WiFi is available. Same goes for smart downloads which don’t work at all with streaming apps

Urgent !

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — So unreliable

*2026-06-12, version 1.79.413*

On home network and went connect. Tedious.

### 1/5 — As they update it it just gets more buggy

*2026-05-25, version 1.78.409*

First it is designed by geeks for geeks. Simple to set up successfully, IT IS NOT. But it can be done if you can drill into your router settings and set up port forwarding, etc. Unlike Apple Music etc, Arc doesn’t just work. And then the updates have consistently broken it on my system. And good luck getting support. Remember it is geek-centric. You need to join their support community post your problem and hope for the best. When it works it’s great. Good luck.

### 1/5 — Not usable for years

*2026-03-07, version 1.74.391*

Do not subscribe to Roon if you think this app will let you listen to your collection when you are on a cellular connection. It continually crashes and locks up. Suggested fixes like Tailscale don’t work long term. An uninstall/reinstall/resync will work for a few hours, but it always crashes again. No logs to troubleshoot the problem. No improvement after years reporting the same issues. The app is junk.

### 1/5 — So buggy it’s not worth spending time in this app at all

*2026-02-27, version 1.72.384*

It works only half of the time, on good days. And when it works, it’s sooooo buggy with all sorts of interruptions to user experience. How can any serious company release a half-baked product like this?!

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2026-01-30, version 1.72.384*

Tried it all, does not work.

### 1/5 — App crash

*2026-01-09, version 1.71.379*

Roon does not take customer support seriously. For over a year people have complained about the app crashing with large libraries. Roon hasn’t done a thing to fix issue and yet they still believe the software is worth charging for. It’s sad!

### 1/5 — No support

*2025-12-06, version 1.70.373*

There is no way to contact technical support, just a link to a community support page. Submitting a ticket just creates a thread on this page. After a day of trying to get the product to work, I quit and cancelled the trial.

### 1/5 — Years later and still doesn’t work

*2025-11-27, version 1.70.373*

Despite reporting that this app continues to not work, the developers show no interest in trying to fix it. For years now, it’s plagued with screen freezes and hard crashes. Do not subscribe to Roon if you think this “streaming away from home” app will work.

### 1/5 — No iPadOS app

*2025-09-13, version 1.69.369*

Where is the iPadOS app? We pay 15 usd per month for the best experience

### 1/5 — Flaky

*2025-09-04, version 1.69.369*

It would stream for a few minutes, not even finish a song then stop. It says that there is a poor connection. Meanwhile Plex server running on the same computer, is streaming via Plex Amp.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Better & Better

*2026-08-17, version 1.81.425*

Don’t get turned off by older negative reviews. Roon Arc works well to bring Roon magic out your front door.

### 5/5 — Much Improved

*2026-08-05, version 1.81.425*

I’ve been a user since day one. ARC has been flawless for me in the past 6 months. Integration with Apple CarPlay is also very good.

### 5/5 — Gets better and better

*2026-06-08, version 1.79.413*

This has become an indispensable portable companion to the at-home Roon experience! The app has really improved in terms of UI/UX. My thanks and congrats to the team!

### 5/5 — Unexpectedly, probably the best music player on the go

*2026-03-12, version 1.74.391*

A long time Roon user, I held back for years before trying ARC on the go - it didn’t work without tinkering with my router settings, and if I already have a Tidal subscription, why not use that on the go. But I often missed my playlists from home, as well as music that I have on the server but not available on Tidal. Finally I read about Tailscale and gave it a try. Setting up Tailscale was very easy, but I still had to add some firewall rules and restart the Roon server before it worked. However, since I started using it, I’ve been very pleased with the whole thing. It’s a surprisingly good player app, has offline downloads for local content, and works actually more stable and smooth than the Tidal app. The only thing I don’t like is that tapping a song plays it, instead of bringing up the context menu (play next, queue). I don’t want my music interrupted and my queue gone because I hit a song title instead of the little ellipsis button.

### 5/5 — A+

*2025-09-20, version 1.69.369*

Amazing piece of software for audiophiles using Roon. Able to listen to all my local music and tidal. I use Roon arc exclusively when listening and streaming any music to a BT device. I’m able to EQ each device and save it as a preset such as my shower speaker, portable DAC, BT headphones etc. No other software allows me to do this as far as I’m aware. So many options and you can EQ with presets from the community. Must have software for the few who are at this audio level.

### 5/5 — Tut was es soll

*2025-07-06, version 1.67.360*

### 5/5 — Unity FINALLY

*2025-05-20, version 1.66.357*

Finally got around to figuring out how to set up a static ip for my server. ARC connects perfectly, brings all of my info with it, and even streams Qobuz from my server to my phone. Wild stuff! Gonna be heartbroken when it's eventually ruined.

### 5/5 — It is good now

*2025-05-20, version 1.66.357*

I've been a costumer since day one. It was really bad in the beginning (phone heating up, downloads not working properly, choppy streaming), with the latest updates it seems to be working great, the waiting was worthwhile.

### 5/5 — Great app and improving

*2025-03-02, version 1.63.344*

Amazing app and service, continues to improve. Local downloads and “listen later” list are welcome additions but headphone equalisation presets are a killer feature
