## What is Roost?

Everything you need to remember about your home, in one calm place.

The policy numbers. The renewal dates. The furnace's service history. Who to call when the water comes through the ceiling at 11pm. Roost holds all of it, and shares it with the people you live with.

THE VAULT

This is the part that matters. Insurance, vehicles, appliances, utilities, documents, warranties, people. 111 templates across 14 categories, each arriving with the right fields already in place. "Furnace" is never an empty form: it knows it needs a service date, a model number, and who to call when it stops.

Photograph a policy document and Roost reads the provider, the policy number, the renewal date and the claims number straight off it. Do the same with a registration document or an invoice.

EVERY ITEM CARRIES AN EMERGENCY PLAN

The right number, the reference to quote, and the first thing to do. Visible to everyone you have shared the item with, so whoever is home when it happens can act, not just the person who set it up. That is the difference between having insurance and being able to use it at 11pm on a Sunday.

NEVER MISS A RENEWAL

Add a renewal date and Roost reminds you 30, 14, 7 and 1 days before. The Renewals screen shows a running monthly total across everything you hold, which is usually a surprise. Set your own currency and every cost follows it.

ASK ROOST

Ask about your own data: what is due, what is overdue, what your renewals actually cost, and specific ways to spend less. Nothing writes for you, and everything ends in something you confirm.

THE REST OF THE ADMIN

Tasks, with repeat rules that understand trash day. Shopping lists that stay in sync on both phones. Notes that live on the vault item they are about, so the technician's advice about the furnace is on the furnace. Routines for the upkeep with no deadline: furnace service, smoke alarm test, flea treatment for the dog.

SHARED PROPERLY

Invite your partner or roommate and you both see and edit the same vault, lists and routines, syncing in about a second. No owner, no admin, no read-only second seat. Sharing works on every plan.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN

Items you keep personal are end to end encrypted on your device. We cannot read them. Shared items are encrypted at rest with access enforced at the database level. Face ID or passcode lock, two factor authentication, and a recovery PIN so encryption never means losing everything with your phone.

FREE, PROPERLY

Ten items in each of the five sections, forever, with no card and no time limit. Household sharing is included, and shared items count toward that ten, so a household shares one free allowance. Five Ask Roost questions to try it out. Pro removes the limits.

Roost also runs in any browser at app.getroost.io on the same account.

WORKS WHEREVER YOU LIVE

Nothing in Roost is restricted by country, and every template field can be renamed, so the library adapts to whatever your paperwork is called where you are.

Questions? There is live chat in the app, and a real person replies.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.13 — 2026-08-26

Free limits are now applied properly across the app, so this release changes what a free account can add.

Free holds ten items in each of the five sections: vault, lists, tasks, notes and routines. That ten counts everything you can see, including anything shared with you, so a household shares one free allowance rather than one each.

Nothing has been deleted and nothing is hidden. Everything you have already saved stays where it is, and you can still read all of it. The limit only applies to adding something new. Roost Pro removes it.

Why it counts shared items: otherwise one Pro member could share hundreds of items into a household and everyone else would have them free, so a household would only ever need one subscription between them.

Also in this release:

You can now choose which currency Roost shows costs in, so prices are not stuck in pounds.
Ask Roost formats its answers properly instead of showing raw markdown.
Pet insurance is no longer labelled as the wrong policy type.
Fixed six places where saved details failed to load.

### 1.0.6 — 2026-08-14

Bug Fixes, The ability to make a task recurring, and the ability to live chat to customer service from the app.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-07-07

Bug & Security Fixes

### 1.0.4 — 2026-06-20

Bug Fix : All list items were automatically being archived after 24 hours of being completed, including Movies & Books, which meant data was seemingly being lost from peoples watched lists. Fixed to only archive on shopping lists, and show archived list items in a new "Archived" section of a list.

### 1.0 — 2026-06-19
