I’ve got so many penpals already and watching the birds fly across the Atlantic is quite fascinating to me. My only suggestion would be about the stamps. It saddens me a little that the UK only has one overall stamp combing us all, when we’re so different from each other. I think the other countries would appreciate their own stamp but I also think the other countries have such potential for stamp designs. I deleted all my social media earlier this year and had resigned myself to being left behind technologically. Then Roost came along and suddenly I feel like I’m having fun online again like I did on Neopets, and YouTube and Club Penguin icirca 2006-7 (hah). I’ve gotten all my friends to get it (they think I’m involved in a pyramid scheme) and all the penpals have been interesting and cool so far. I’m grateful this app exists, and I hope it evolves without losing the integrity of its foundation. Bless and thank you <3 ### 2/5 — Some of the pigeon images use AI… *2026-08-15, version 1.4.30* This would’ve been nice to know as a disclosure at the very least, its noticeable on snails specifically, like the roman or Italian snail (why does the roman snail have feet? The Italian snail’s eyes aren’t where they need to be as well.) Sorry to the people i was messaging ig but a heads up would’ve been nice that Generative AI was used for some portraits, even if they get replaced later on down the line with real art or photos. Hire artists, or don’t bother at all. I read the article about what the creator had to say on the issue, and I think that if you can’t make an app without this level of AI assistance there’s really no point. You took the most appealing, human part of the project and ruined it. Support artist, put time and effort into what you do. L devs. Aside from that, the app is laggy/buggy on certain menus and confusing to use. The point of the app is basically a digital pen pal service but it’s difficult to find someone you might actually want to connect with because of the limited feed of users they give you. ### 1/5 — Hire human or learn to code *2026-07-17, version 1.4.13* So we will keep seeing more AI made app like this one? Obviously even the interface is designed by AI. Sad. ### 1/5 — Inaccurate bird images for an app centred on birds *2026-07-07, version 1.4.8* Even though entire repositories of bird images exist, they decided to use AI generated images for the birds. The concept itself is cute, allowing you to digitally send “snail mail”. How it works is basically you have a bunch of birds in your flock, you can send them to penpals and friends. Once the birds go to someone else, they can use your bird to send a message to anyone or you can recall your bird! I currently have a penpal in China, it's great! It takes like a week for it to deliver, it really feels like real postal. My specific address isn't shared and it feels very safe to talk to strangers. Very cool and much prefer this to "Pidge". there are actual real species of birds, you can also play mini games to upgrade these birds to fly faster. They have some snails and turtles and bats too!
