### 1/5 — Would give zero stars if possible.

*2022-08-31*

I have xfinity and one of the only channels that I am restricted from streaming is roots sports. I thought that downloading the root sports app would solve this issue but they do not even provide this service on their app. It is a slap in the face that you cannot watch your local team even after paying for cable because root sports refuses to stream their services. I do note that several other reviews have been told to contact their service provider and honestly I think root sports is the issue as almost every other channel has made the transition to streaming. Developer Please do not respond and tell me to do that as you are just going to insult me further.

### 1/5 — Need to have a monthly subscription option

*2022-08-06, version 2.0.13*

Y’all own the rights and black out every other network. Why not offer a subscription? All I want to do is watch the M’s without paying 90 dollars a month for a provider.

### 1/5 — Simply Junk

*2022-06-26, version 2.0.13*

The app is simply junk. Says I cannot use with with my current subscription. My subscriber definitely has this and is a part of the streaming package. RootSports just needs to go. All NW teams need to look for a new provider

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2022-05-17, version 2.0.12*

Root Sports - extremely disappointing
Mariners organization - disappointing
Mariners team - two thumbs up

Sorry, I am not signing up with Fubo and, Cmon, the name of the frickin ball park is T-Mobile but they're pushing ATT direct TV! No wonder the M's are destined to be "coulda beens" for the foreseeable future.

### 1/5 — Only for Cable Subscribers

*2022-04-20, version 2.0.12*

If ROOT had an option to pay them directly for a monthly fee I would do it in a heartbeat. Not worth $150/month to pay for a cable subscription to watch baseball. Would pay a tenth of that just to purchase watching ROOT online.

### 1/5 — Anti consumer app and company

*2022-04-09, version 2.0.12*

The app does everything it can to discourage your from actually using it. No casting options, it forces itself into portrait mode so mirroring it to a larger screen doesn’t work. Root is seemingly committed to remaining in the 1990s and collecting easy money for as long as they can at the expense of the consumer.

### 1/5 — No screen mirror?

*2022-04-08, version 2.0.12*

Good: I can finally watch my mariners and Kraken on the tablet

Bad: why is the screen mirroring blocked? I already have to confirm a subscription to a tv service? So why can’t I cast this to a larger screen? I’m tired of local sports being sooo restricted by RootSports.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2022-01-10, version 2.0.12*

I’ve never rated an app before, but went out of my way to give this 1 star. If zero was an option, I’d do that. Video quality is spotty at best and more often than not, quite bad. Constantly logs you out of your provider and requires you to log in multiple times. Tons of bugs and errors. Can’t streamcast to another device. Truly the worst app I’ve had to use multiple times

### 1/5 — This app is garbage

*2021-12-02, version 2.0.11*

Considering the sports you cover are in the Pacific Northwest it would be nice if you had an option for the main tv/cable providers we have. I can’t even use this app because you don’t have Comcast/Xfinity as a cable provider option.

### 1/5 — Worst streaming sports app

*2021-11-30, version 2.0.11*

Doesn’t have any casting options, doesn’t allow you to hdmi to a TV or use Apple TV. They only want you to be able to watch it from your phone and not the TV. For that they are super greedy.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with Apple TV

*2021-11-18, version 2.0.11*

All I want to do is watch the blazers game in my garage on my Apple TV. This app doesn’t support any functionality with Apple TV, not even screen mirroring! I use fox sports, ESPN, PAC-12, NBC Sports and they all allow this bare minimum basic functionality

### 1/5 — Apple TV

*2021-11-14, version 2.0.11*

I tried to use the Root Sports application to watch Blazer games via Apple TV and found the Root does not support Apple TV. When I found Root did not support Apple TV I attempted to Airplay the game and their was no picture on the TV. In my opinion unless Root supports Apple TV this application is worthless!

### 1/5 — Root Sports is a total bust including the App

*2021-11-05*

The App doesn’t show many of the cable providers and the Search only looks at the same small list. So it’s useless! They don’t answer contact emails and their main phone only has a recording to read their useless FAQs! They brag about having the contracts and blocks ESPN from showing games but what their guide says is showing is never what is actually on! We were so excited about watching the Kraken play hockey here in Oregon but instead it’s fishing, boxing, or what ever else but not what they advertise!
Release the blackout contract if you can’t provide the service! Easily one on the worst sport channels out there!

### 1/5 — Bad update

*2021-10-12*

After they did their last update to the video player 3 days ago the Quality is garbage not a clear picture like it used to be before the update, I use this app for the blazer games. But the picture Quality is not as good at all it’s blurry now. they need to go back to where the app was before the picture was great for the first preseason game for the Blazers it was perfect, and then after the update happened three days ago and I watched the blazer game last night it was crap & very blurry even when I’m in Wi-Fi it’s blurry I don’t know what they did with this last update to the video player but it’s not good at all it needs to be fixed ASAP I work 2nd shift so I use this app to watch the blazers when I’m @ wk. if the Picture quality video player was not blurry they would be getting five stars for me but until they get it fixed it’s a one star for right now

### 1/5 — What a useless app

*2021-10-05*

I have root on Comcast would like to watch it on my phone so that I am not stuck in front of the tv. The app is junk down loaded it to the phone it ask me to log in but my service provider isn’t even listed and when I type it in it doesn’t do a thing. We are in the 21 century where internet rules. Can’t even get it on my roku. Would like to leave neg 1000 stars. I am going to try to use this app I will give it 2 weeks then I will delete it.... if I was your boss I would FIRE everyone

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2024-07-23*

Refused to connect me to the Mariners game, even though I've paid for it (a lot!). Was on my cable provider's tech support for 70 minutes trouble shooting, they tried to contact Root tech support, failed, and told me they thought that "everyone there has gone home". Whatever the issue is, they both bear responsibility for this failure, since their companies have partnered on this. In fairness, when I watched the game the day before, it worked flawlessly.
However, for the premium price we are paying It seems that more effort needs to be made on their side to provide a much more customer friendly and premium service. I missed the entire game while on hold... an extremely frustrating experience.

### 1/5 — Really disappointing

*2024-01-24*

Was so excited to watch the Trail Blazers from my phone. Worked for two games. Now I’m suddenly getting an alert, “Invalid device zip.” Nothing has changed about my device or my location, no place within the app to confirm/edit the zip, and nothing has changed within my phone settings. Location services is turned on. Tried to contact customer support for this app - it says, “invalid domain.” This app has SO MUCH potential. Please PLEASE fix the bugs.

### 1/5 — Unwatchable picture glitches and now literally unwatchable with location error.

*2024-01-02*

First, the app was becoming unwatchable because part of the video frame would freeze/pixelate every 2-3 seconds.

Now, I literally cannot watch anything. Your api service to fetch zip codes is returning 0 which is marking me as unable to watch.

This is really sad coming from a service we pay so much for just so we can watch blazers game.

### 1/5 — Really disappointing

*2023-11-18*

Was so excited to watch the Trail Blazers from my phone. Worked for two games. ### 1/5 — Always an Error

*2023-02-07, version 2.0.14*

Despite logging in (Xfinity), there’s always an error or “this channel isn’t included” message that pops up when attempting to stream outside of my home…which is generally where I assume folks stream things on their phones. I pay for this channel with my cable package, but alas, the app is entirely useless.

### 1/5 — This app is terrible

*2023-01-15, version 2.0.14*

This app lacks basic features. You cannot cast to a TV like every other TV / Sports app allows, and to make matters worse, the native iOS screen mirroring feature doesn’t work (displays a black screen.) This app is at least 10 years behind the curve. Get with the program Root Sports.

### 1/5 — Why can’t you screencast to a tv?

*2023-01-04, version 2.0.14*

Great video quality but super annoying that you can not screencast/mirror the app onto a tv with those capabilities. Am I supposed to watch every thing off of my phone?

### 1/5 — No xfinity for blazers games

*2022-12-01, version 2.0.14*

You can tell by all the negative reviews that this app isn’t it… when the blazers had a deal with NBC Sports NW I could watch any game live. Root sports doesn’t have a deal with xfinity so I can’t even watch a single game live on my phone. So lame

### 1/5 — Give Root the boot

*2022-11-04, version 2.0.14*

It simply perplexes me how unfriendly every aspect of this garbage company is towards consumers. Absolute dog water licensing deals with service providers. It’s like they actively don’t want fans to watch sports. The app looks and functions like they hired some dude from Fiverr to build it. Wow, you guys are an embarrassment lol.

### 1/5 — Worst video app?

*2022-09-07*

This app is the worst video app that I have interacted with. You have to log in multiple times and even then it rarely works. Close and restart the app? Doesn’t matter. I’d say I get through to the actual content about 33% of the time that I try to use this app. And I have the necessary cable subscription. So. Bad. Mariners, for the love of god baseball is already hard to watch on tv, don’t make the actual process of getting the content impossible too! Ditch ROOT!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Xfinity Customer - App Works

*2024-04-28*

I almost didn’t bother downloading the app because of all the negative reviews stating that streaming doesn’t work for Comcast customers. That may have been true in the past, but to those like myself who are interested now, I can confirm that it works for me.

It was easy to sign in using my Xfinity info, the video quality is good, and there have been no loading/buffering issues. There is a small delay from TV to app but that’s to be expected. Don’t hesitate to give it a try.

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2022-11-02, version 2.0.14*

Love this channel and the content they provide. I love that I keep seeing improvements and continued efforts toward making the app better.

### 5/5 — App is not working for me

*2019-07-26*

Every time I try to load the app it tells me there is an error and I can’t get it to stream. Live stream on the website is also not working. I won’t leave a bad rating because obviously something is just messed up right now and didn’t know how else to tell Root Sports.

**Developer response:** Hello jendjjfke, thank you for your feedback. Please contact customer support for assistance.

### 5/5 — Too Easy!

*2018-04-23*

I was looking for a way to watch a Major League Rugby match on Root Sport that airs at the same time as the news programs my wife wants to watch. I saw a review that indicated DirecTV customers could access the broadcast so tried it. So easy! Perfect stream! And it performed better than the DirecTV app that was blocking the rugby even though I have rights to that channel. Too bad Comcast folks aren’t getting in, but that’s a Comcast issue.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your great review Ya kiwi !!!!

### 5/5 — Great if you have access, don't blame the developer if you dont

*2018-04-18*

With the current state of Root Sports streaming access, you must have a cable or satellite provider other than Comcast that carries Root Sports in order to stream when you're away from home. This app is pretty and seamless, remembering your credentials between sessions so you can launch it easily. The negative reviews are unfair and complain about Comcast's refusal to support streaming, which is not the developer's fault.

**Developer response:** Hello Qlrfb ! Thank you so much for your great review and for supporting our App !!!!

### 2/5 — App Breaks too Often

*2023-07-01*

When it works, it’s fine but it breaks too often. Take for instance tonight, it logged me out, I logged on and it says error, please refreshing or logging back in. I’ve tried four times and still doesn’t work. This happens often where it logs me out even though I’ve clicked the boxes and/or it errors. Streaming quality is fine

### 2/5 — Root Sports, you can do better…

*2023-01-05, version 2.0.14*

It’s great that you finally reached a deal with Comcast. However, you need to give users the ability to cast or airplay to a TV. I’m not sure why there is resistance is to adding a simple feature like this. Do better.

### 2/5 — Works, but no screen mirroring?!

*2021-10-27*

I have Directv, and can easily watch the games on this app. But let’s say I go to a buddies house and he has a smart tv, it will not let me screen mirror from my phone to the tv. It lets me pull up the channel programming menu and mirrors that, but once I click the program, the screen goes black on the tv while my phone is showing it. I guess I’m wondering why you can’t do that? It’s literally the only app on my phone that won’t let you screen mirror.

### 2/5 — Get it together

*2020-07-26, version 2.0.8*

Even with a Wave Broadband subscription, Root can’t figure out out how to allow customers within Seattle city limits to watch Seattle Mariners games. I’m “out of region”. Give up your exclusive contract to a company that will allow people to watch games and perhaps people will watch baseball again.

### 2/5 — If you don’t have cable you can’t use this app

*2018-03-30, version 1.1.1*

I ditched cable. Would love to give you real MONEY to use the app and stream. But there is no way to do that with this app. Please take this feedback. People are dropping cable. That means I have $180 more a month I can spend to buy exactly what services and channels I want. I was prepared to do just that, but alas I cannot.
