## What is RootKey?

Your passwords are only ever unlocked on your own devices. Your vault is encrypted on your iPhone and computer; our servers hold no copy of it and cannot see inside. Buy the current major version once, get free updates within it, and never create an account.

SEE WHAT AI READ
Connect an AI coding assistant on your computer and decide item by item what it may read. Every read is logged: which assistant, which item, and when. After sync, the AI Access center on your iPhone shows it all, and you can revoke everything in one tap. Items you have not shared stay invisible to AI.

MOVE FROM APPLE PASSWORDS
In Passwords, choose Export Data to Another App → RootKey. Passwords, passkeys and verification codes are handed over by the system directly, with no server in between.

SIRI AND SHORTCUTS
Say "Search RootKey" or "Lock RootKey" to jump straight there. Shortcuts only open the app and never read out or return a password; you still unlock as usual.

Creating a vault generates a recovery key and walks you through printing it. If you forget your master password, the key resets it without losing data. If both are lost, nobody can open the vault, including us, so keep it safe.

Every line that touches your passwords and keys is published at github.com/bitbeam-cn/rootkey-crypto (MIT / Apache-2.0) with test vectors anyone can check. Security depends on your master password, not on the code being secret.

### 0.12.0 — 2026-09-19

Stop keeping expiry dates in your head.

· Expiry reminders: give a passport, card or membership its expiry date and
  RootKey tells you before it lapses — and stops once you've handled it.
· Recurring reminders: some things don't expire, they lapse unless you use
  them — a phone number recycled after six months idle. Set an interval; the
  clock restarts the day you mark it done.
· Reminders arrive as system notifications. They never name the item —
  a lock screen is a public place.
· A "To do" card on the Security tab, plus a marker in the list.

Also:
· Every so often RootKey asks you to type your master password by hand, so it
  doesn't fade after months of Face ID. Adjust or turn it off in Settings.
· The "Project" item type is now "Dev project" — it holds a code project's
  variables and environments.
· Fixed a data-loss bug: editing an item's title wiped its reminder.
