## What is Roots AI?

Beside every name in the tree, a person appears: their face, their house, the way they took tea on the porch.

A TREE THAT GROWS WITH THE WHOLE FAMILY
Start with yourself and go back to your great-great-grandparents. Invite relatives — each one adds their branch and what only they remember. Living and departed in a single tree.

YOUR FAMILY'S COAT OF ARMS
Create a coat of arms from your surname, your place and your family's history. An emblem you can keep and pass on to your children.

THE STORIES THAT WOULD OTHERWISE DISAPPEAR
The memory keeper asks the questions — you simply answer. Your answers become a coherent story about the person. Not a form, but a conversation.

A FILM ABOUT SOMEONE YOU LOVE
Your photographs, a narrator's voice, music, and titles with their name and years. Download it, send it to family, keep it.

TRANSFORMATIONAL GAMES
«Leela» — the ancient Indian game of self-knowledge: 72 squares, a reading for each one, and a journal of reflections. «Ikigai» — four circles that help you see what you live for.

PLACES OF REMEMBRANCE
Mark a burial site with exact coordinates and build a route to it. The map works offline — cemeteries often have no signal.

TRADITIONS
Commemoration dates for six religions, prayers, and reminders so you never miss an important day.

Russian, Kazakh and English. You decide what the whole family sees and what stays with you alone.

iRitual — so that your lineage is not lost to time.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.1.8 — 2026-09-12

Family Copilot is an AI helper that builds your family tree through conversation.

Tell it about your relatives in your own words – it works out who is related to whom and puts everyone in place. It knows what to ask next, and if you cannot remember something, it will pass the question to a relative for you.

Nothing enters your tree without your approval: you confirm every person yourself. Made a mistake? One tap undoes it.

We have a new name: the app is now called Roots. Everything you made – your tree, books, coats of arms, photos – is still here.

Also in this version: a calendar of family dates on the home screen, relatives' faces in the tree widget, cleaner generations and spouses in the tree, support opens straight from the tree, plus fixes for Google and Apple sign-in and GEDCOM file import.

### 1.1.7 — 2026-09-04

Family events are here – a calendar where birthdays and memorial anniversaries arrive from your family tree on their own. Add your own event, give it a photo, invite relatives and discuss the details inside the event, without starting a separate chat.

### 1.1.6 — 2026-08-28

The app now opens in your phone's language – English and Kazakh from the very first screen. Signing in with Google no longer resets your language. If your phone has no browser, we explain it and offer email sign-in instead.

### 1.1.5 — 2026-08-27

Family network. The home screen now shows how many relatives you have, along with a network screen and a ring of close family: you can see who is near and how your circle grows.

What's New is now a feed: we tell you what has appeared in the app and why it matters to you.

Portraits. The crop in the circle is saved exactly as you framed it: photos no longer drift or get cut in the wrong place.

Relations. Cousins and second cousins are no longer filed as distant.

Sign-in. If it fails, the app explains why instead of staying silent.

Memorial date reminders arrive on time again.

Also: profiles keep places of life and maiden names, you can add a birthplace when adding a relative, and search opens with the details you started on the website.

### 1.1.4 — 2026-08-18

The family feed is now a real feed: full-width photos, a heart and replies under every post, and a notification when someone responds. The feed opens from the second button at the bottom.

Hearts and replies also appeared on a person's page – they are shared with the feed.

On a memorial day the candle is now lit by you, and below it you can see which relatives have already come today. The prayer calls the person by name, and the candle appears even when no faith is set.

The app greets your relatives on their birthday and invites you to write to them.

Years of life can be approximate – "around 1890" or "1941–1945" – instead of inventing an exact date.

The family tree picture can now be saved to your phone gallery.

Whoever accepts an invitation owns their page: the portrait and photos on it are theirs to manage.
