## What is RoutineArc?

Your to-do list isn't a plan. RoutineArc turns it into one: tap Plan my day and what's due is fitted into the gaps between your events. No account, no tracking.

ONE-TAP DAY PLAN
One tap builds a day plan around your events, your work hours and what's due — ordinary arithmetic over your schedule, not a guess, so it's instant. It honours what you said when you captured, like a hard stop or "this one before that one", and when the day can't hold everything it says how many tasks didn't fit. Export the plan to PDF, or let the On Deck card walk you through one thing at a time.

CAPTURE THE WAY YOU SPEAK
Type or dictate naturally — "dentist tomorrow at 3pm", "lunch with Sarah at Cafe Roma thursday noon" — and RoutineArc turns it into tasks, events and notes with the date, time, place and priority filled in. Scan a photo or screenshot to pull its text into items.

BEAT TASK PARALYSIS
Priorities P1–P4 on an Eisenhower matrix you can touch: hold a task and drag it into Do First, Schedule, Delegate or Eliminate. Plus subtasks, tags, recurrence and a weekly review.

FOCUS WHEN IT COUNTS
Pomodoro, countdown and stopwatch modes, focus and break lengths you set, and per-task sessions started straight from the list. Strict Mode fails a timer you walk away from.

END EVERY DAY ALL CAUGHT UP
Evening Triage shows overdue tasks one at a time: roll it over, finish it or delete it. Keep It Honest flags anything you've pushed three times.

A CALENDAR YOU CAN TOUCH
Day and week views with drag to reschedule. Tasks with due times sit beside your events, so the day is one picture.

HABITS, NOTES AND INSIGHTS
Daily habits with streaks, searchable notes, and insights into your focused time and how long tasks really take.

ON YOUR HOME SCREEN
Five widgets: Day Overview, Home, Tasks, Priority Matrix, and Day Briefing. On iPhone, turn on Live Activity and the current block follows you to the Lock Screen and, where the iPhone has one, the Dynamic Island.

ACROSS YOUR DEVICES
With iCloud sync on, your tasks, events, notes and habits are the same on each of your devices, in your own private iCloud, and Handoff lets another device pick up the item you have open.

ON-DEVICE AI
With Apple Intelligence, understanding what you type, summarising a note, and suggesting subtasks run on the Neural Engine — nothing is sent to a server. Without it, a fast deterministic rules engine takes over.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account, no analytics, no tracking. Everything the app itself sends goes through Apple.

SEVEN DAYS, THEN YOURS TO KEEP
Free for seven days — no sign-up, no card. Then RoutineArc turns read-only until you unlock it: everything stays readable, searchable, exportable and deletable, and you can still tick tasks off and defer them. Backing up and restoring by hand stay free for good. Unlock monthly, yearly or once for life; the automatic daily backup and iCloud sync come with monthly, yearly and the Unlimited lifetime unlock.

Works fully offline, in Light and Dark Mode, with eight color palettes, adjustable text sizes and high contrast. It does not sync with Apple or Google Calendar: your events live in RoutineArc.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.5 — 2026-10-16

NEW IN 2.5

Your tasks, events and notes can now be on each of your devices, through your own iCloud. RoutineArc still has no account and no server of its own.

SYNC ACROSS YOUR DEVICES
• Your tasks and their steps, events, notes, habits, saved places, focus time and what RoutineArc has learned can be the same on each of your devices, kept in your own private iCloud.
• It is off until you turn it on: in More > Settings > System > Sync Across Devices, turn on "Sync with iCloud" on each device. It needs iCloud signed in, and comes with monthly, yearly and the Unlimited lifetime unlock, not with Essentials.
• Changes go across when you open RoutineArc, when you come back to it, and shortly after you change something. While it is open, it also looks for changes from your other devices about every ten seconds, and iCloud usually tells it at once when another device sends one. The card says when this device last synced.
• Handoff: with sync on, the task, event or note you have open on one device can be opened on another nearby. On iPhone it appears in the App Switcher, and on iPad in the Dock.
• If two devices change the same item, the later change is kept. A delete wins over an edit to the same item, even a later one.
• With iCloud sync on, settings, task photos and business rhythm duties stay on the device where you made them.
• To use the same business rhythm and work schedule on every device, turn on "Sync business rhythm and work schedule" in the same card.

KEEPING WHAT YOU HAVE
• Before the first sync on a device, and before a sync that replaces a lot, RoutineArc saves a copy of what is on that device in Backup & Restore.
• Restoring a backup or importing data first backs up what you had on this device, and tells you which backup that is. If it cannot, nothing is replaced.
• On a device that syncs, restoring a backup replaces what your other devices have too, as each of them syncs.
• On a device that syncs, clearing focus history erases it on your other devices too.

BUSINESS RHYTHMS
• You can now choose more than one business rhythm in More > Settings > Planner > Business Rhythm, and the plan and the day's tasks follow each one you choose.
• "Only on days I work" is on by default: with a work schedule, a rhythm's tasks show only on days that have a shift, and what you did not finish on your last shift comes back on your next one. Turn it off to see them every day.

ALSO IN THIS UPDATE
• When a capture needs an unlock, the words you typed or spoke are kept on Today under "Not saved yet". Add them once you unlock, or discard them.
• After a purchase, RoutineArc says what is now unlocked, and how many kept captures are waiting.
• Plan my day lists, at the top of the Day Plan, what it could not keep, such as a task that would finish after it is due.
• Focus you start on the Focus tab without a task is now recorded, and counts in Insights' total and week.
• On iPhone, if you turn on Live Activity, the focus countdown of a Pomodoro, a Timer or Focus Mode shows on the Lock Screen and, where the iPhone has one, in the Dynamic Island.
• A large photo you add to a task is saved at 2048 pixels on its longer side, so it takes less room. Photos already added are unchanged.

LARGER SCREENS
• In a wide window, such as on a Mac or a 13-inch iPad in landscape, the tabs move to a sidebar.
• On a large screen, Today and More use two columns, Focus puts its timer beside its settings, the Tasks list is wider, and the Calendar's day and week use more of the width.

### 2.3 — 2026-10-12

NEW IN 2.3

RoutineArc plans your day entirely on your device — no account, no cloud.

WIDGETS THAT FIT YOUR SCREEN
• Day Overview and Home show whole tasks, the most important first, and Home keeps its date on one line.
• The large Day Briefing keeps its date, footer and full-size clock on smaller iPhones, and Tasks and Priority Matrix give titles more room.
• Widget dates follow your device's order, a task ticked in a widget is kept until the app saves it, and CSV-imported events appear.
• On iPhone, if you turn on Live Activity, the expanded Dynamic Island, where the iPhone has one, no longer cuts off "ENDS IN".

DATES AND TIMES YOUR WAY
• Times and dates follow your device, also when its region differs from its language: 15:05 on a 24-hour clock, Wed 23 Sept with the day first. Today, the Calendar and tasks always use the Gregorian calendar.
• A change to the 24-hour clock or the region shows as soon as you come back to RoutineArc.
• Where the day comes first, a typed or spoken 5/10 now means the 5th of October. A date unreadable in your device's order is left off, with a note saying why.
• "Dentist on Friday" becomes an all-day event, not an hour at midnight, "conference Oct 5-7" one event across those days, and a dateless event a task.
• All-day and multi-day events show on each day they cover, an event past midnight shows its part of each day, and a date-only task no longer reminds you at midnight.
• Overdue counts go by calendar days, and dragging an event across a clock change keeps the time you dropped it on.

VOICEOVER
• Task rows say their status, priority and due date, with actions to mark done, start focus, break down and delete.
• The app now says what changed: a deletion and how to undo it, what a capture added, a task marked done.
• Screens have headings, buttons say they are buttons and checkboxes whether ticked, and the Undo message no longer covers the bottom buttons.

REMINDERS, FOCUS AND THE PLAN
• Tapping a reminder opens its task or event, even when the tap starts RoutineArc.
• Pressing Allow when you turn reminders on is no longer reported as a refusal.
• Moving an event or task now moves its "Time to leave" alert with it.
• Control Center, Notification Center or a call banner no longer fails Strict Mode or stops a stopwatch, and Strict Mode keeps the screen on.
• A focus session that ends in the background counts its own length, and one running when the app is closed or swiped away is kept. Focus time is recorded when focus starts from a task.
• Stopwatch laps show the time that really passed.
• Export to PDF shares the plan on screen, named for its day, instead of every task you have.
• Plan my day treats an event running since last night, like a night shift, as busy until it ends.
• The Calendar's red current-time line shows at every hour of today, and the day view opens at it.

CAPTURE
• Scan text, Attach photo and Camera Scan now open the camera or photo library.
• The send arrow saves on the first tap, even with the keyboard up, and scrolling Today hides the keyboard.
• A capture saved only in part says what was saved and clears the bar, so resending adds no duplicates.

YOUR DATA AND BACKUPS
• If RoutineArc cannot read your data, Today says so and offers to export a copy, and nothing is written until it can.
• Changes save one at a time and whole, so a restore, an import or a quick second tap no longer undoes a change or saves it twice.
• A restored backup's settings apply at once, and no Undo or suggestion from before the restore can write into it.

PURCHASES
• If a renewal payment fails, you stay unlocked through Apple's billing grace period, and Today asks you to update it.
• Restore says when it could not reach the App Store, instead of saying no purchase was found.
• After the free week, a save that needs an unlock opens the unlock screen, in front, instead of doing nothing.

ALSO
• Driving Mode is gone: its notification could be swiped away, so it could not stay pinned as promised.

### 2.2.1 — 2026-09-23

NEW IN 2.2.1

RoutineArc plans your day entirely on your device — no account, no cloud. Version 2.2.1 makes the app easier to read, closes a few ways it could change or lose what you wrote, and makes sure alerts actually reach you.

EASIER TO READ
• In dark mode, button labels were white on a bright colour and hard to read, including Save, +, and the buttons on the unlock screens. They now use a dark label that stands out, in every colour theme.
• Priority labels, due dates and the red Delete buttons are a deeper shade where they sit on a light background, so they are readable in every theme.
• The emerald, amber, rose and sand themes use a slightly deeper main colour in light mode, for the same reason.
• With High Contrast on, text fields now get easier to read, not harder.

YOUR TASKS AND EVENTS STAY AS YOU LEFT THEM
• Ticking a repeating task done from its edit screen ended the series without a next occurrence. It now creates the next one, the same as ticking it in a list, and it stays free after the trial.
• Dragging one occurrence of a repeating event in the Calendar moved the whole series and removed its earlier dates. It now leaves the series alone and offers to edit the series instead. Scrolling the Calendar from a repeating event scrolls again.
• Dragging the same event twice now starts from where the first drag left it.
• If a save fails, for example when the device is full, the form now stays open with your text and says so, instead of closing as if it had worked. A second tap on Save no longer creates a duplicate.
• On iPad, pressing Save in the side panel could reopen a task you had just completed in the list. It no longer writes over what changed beside it.

ALERTS THAT REACH YOU
• A focus session or timer that ends while your phone is locked now sends a notification. RoutineArc asks for notification permission the first time you start one.
• If notifications are off for RoutineArc in iOS Settings, the app now tells you, with a button to open Settings, instead of scheduling reminders that never arrive.
• Choosing a reminder while reminders are off now offers to turn them on, instead of silently doing nothing.
• Strict Mode no longer fails a session because the notification permission prompt appeared.

TRIAL AND PURCHASES
• Buying from the "free week is up" screen now takes you straight back into the app, instead of back to that screen.
• A subscription that lapsed or was refunded is described as exactly that, not as a free trial that ended.
• After a reinstall, the welcome screens no longer promise a fresh free week. The week you already had may simply carry on.

PHOTOS AND BACKUPS
• Photos attached to tasks were kept where iOS can clear them to free up space. They are now kept with the task, and photos attached in earlier versions are moved the first time 2.2.1 opens.
• Photos brought back by a backup restore are kept the same way, so they stay with their tasks when you move to a new iPhone.
• A photo you remove, or one whose task you delete, is cleared from the device the next time RoutineArc starts.

ON IPAD
• The priority matrix beside a task no longer squeezes its headings into broken words, and the task filters fit on one row.
• Insights no longer ends in an empty graph heading when there is nothing to plot yet.

### 2.2 — 2026-09-23

NEW IN 2.2

RoutineArc plans your day entirely on your device — no account, no cloud. Version 2.2 makes it a real iPad app, gives the unlock screen four ways to pay, and fixes a handful of things the app was telling you that were not true.

ROUTINEARC ON IPAD
• It fills the screen and rotates, instead of running in a phone-sized window.
• Tasks, Notes and the Calendar's day view show two panes side by side when the window is wide enough: the list on one side, and whatever you tapped open and editable on the other. Narrower windows and iPhone keep the single column.
• Beside the day view you also get the full details of whichever event you tap, and a list of the tasks due on the day you are looking at.
• A new launch screen that matches the app's own background, instead of a flash of white or black on the way in.

FOUR WAYS TO UNLOCK
• Monthly and yearly subscriptions, an Essentials one-time unlock, and the Unlimited lifetime unlock. Monthly, yearly and lifetime also turn on the automatic daily backup; Essentials does not.
• Every price comes from the App Store itself, so what you are shown is what your region is charged.
• If you already subscribe and would rather own RoutineArc outright, you can now buy the lifetime unlock. That row used to be greyed out, so the only way to own it was to have never subscribed in the first place.

A DONE TAP ON THE WIDGET STICKS
• Ticking a task off on the widget wrote it down but never told the app, so the task was still sitting there open the next time you opened RoutineArc. It shows as done straight away now.
• That closes the worse half of it too: ticking the same task again, from a list that had not caught up, could leave a repeating task with two copies of its next occurrence.

WHAT THE APP SAYS WHEN SOMETHING RUNS OUT
• If a subscription lapsed, RoutineArc used to announce that your free week was up — about a week that had ended months earlier. It no longer says that. Everything you have written is still there, still searchable, and still yours to export.

BACKUP AND RESTORE
• When an automatic backup is skipped, the reason now matches your situation instead of guessing. Every backup already on your device stays listed and restorable whatever you own, and backing up by hand, restoring and exporting stay free for everyone.
• Handing RoutineArc a file that is not a backup was already refused, with "Nothing was changed." It had, though: photos embedded in that file were written to your device before the refusal. Nothing is written now until the file has been read and accepted.

THE STATUS BAR, IN LIGHT APPEARANCE
• The clock, Wi-Fi and battery at the top of the screen were white on a near-white background — on every screen, for as long as the app has existed. They follow the theme now.

AT LARGER TEXT SIZES
• The day's progress ring no longer runs off the edge of the screen, the Add Task button no longer disappears behind the title, and the calendar's hour labels stay on screen.

### 2.1 — 2026-09-16

NEW IN 2.1

RoutineArc plans your day entirely on your iPhone — no account, no cloud. Version 2.1 is a reliability release: what changed here was found by auditing the app rather than by adding to it.

WIDGETS AND THE LIVE ACTIVITY
• If your iPhone runs iOS 17, the widgets and the Live Activity were missing altogether. The extension had been built to require iOS 18 by mistake, so it could not install at all. It now matches the app's own iOS 17 minimum.
• On iOS 18 and later, nothing about the widgets changes.

A PLAN THAT SEES EVERY MEETING
• A repeating meeting now reaches the whole of Today. "Plan my day" books around it instead of straight over it, it appears in Today's Schedule, and the next-event line and the morning and evening summaries name it.
• Before this, a weekly meeting set up three weeks ago was invisible to the planner, which laid a task straight across it. A day with several repeating meetings will now come back with fewer tasks placed, because the time really is taken.
• The drive time for a repeating event with a location is reserved again, and the completion circle beside one now completes it.

NOTHING LOST WHEN YOU CAPTURE
• Correcting a date in the capture confirmation sheet can no longer cost you the capture. A half-typed "2026-07-04T15:0" used to end the save in silence — the phone buzzed as though it had saved, and nothing was written. It now stops, names the item to fix, and leaves everything on screen.
• Every item is checked before any of them is written, so one bad date cannot save the first few and quietly drop the rest.

A BACKUP THAT IS EITHER THERE OR NOT
• A backup interrupted part-way through writing now leaves nothing behind. Before, it appeared in your list with a real date and size, indistinguishable from a good one until a restore tried to read it — and it could push out an older backup that was perfectly good.
• Restoring is unchanged: your data is written in a single transaction, a file that was cut short is refused, and a file that is not a RoutineArc backup is refused with a message saying so.

THE SMALLER THINGS
• A task due on a date with no time no longer sends a "due now" alert. It was firing at an hour nobody chose — often the evening before, on the day before the one you meant, on any iPhone set west of GMT. The task still appears on Today and in your lists, and a task with a real due time is unaffected.
• A long press on an event now asks before it deletes, and says when the event repeats, so it is clear that the whole series goes. It always removed the series; it never said so.
• Deleting an event still cannot be undone, which is why it now asks. Deleting a task still can, with Undo.
• The three summary pills on Today were drawing their numbers in near-black on a dark card, which left the streak count invisible in all eight dark themes. They are readable now, and filled buttons pick their text colour by measured contrast, so a Delete button reads clearly in every palette.
