### 4/5 — Good app, needs minor adjustments

*2019-02-20*

I like that the intervals are highly adjustable. The one change I would make is that I wish there was a setting so that the task would come due one interval after it was last completed. So if it’s a 1 week task that you complete on Thursday, it comes due next Thursday. Id also like if my husband could purchase the app and share my list, and as we completed tasks it would update the other persons list too. I’d like that, but otherwise it’s a good app.

### 4/5 — Good routine tracking app

*2018-12-29*

I really don’t like cluttering my Things app with normal routing things, so I tried this app to enter all of my regular habits. So far, I really like it. It allows you to set custom intervals for tasks (every 2 weeks, 1st Wednesday of each month, day 15 of each month, once every 3 months), making it very flexible. You can also set custom alerts for each task. There are a lot of settings, but they aren’t too hard to set. It can even be set to uncheck the tasks at the next interval automatically. One thing that it doesn’t do, though, is keep stats on how often you complete your routine, but I don’t really need this for what I am doing.

There are a few things I wish the app would do differently. For one thing, if you set an alert, it goes off at the time you set it even if you have checked off the task as completed for that day. It allows you to set a task for a time interval, but you can’t set, for example, a weekly task that can be completed any time during the week. You have to at least set a day.

You can set alerts before the time to complete a task, but you can’t set alerts to fire after the time interval if you haven’t completed the task or have repeating alerts if the task is not addressed.

It has a today page to show what you need to do today, but it doesn’t allow you to customize it to see more upcoming tasks.

Of course, it lacks any kind of cloud sync, but I can live with out this.

### 2/5 — Great in theory - notifications don’t work

*2018-08-09*

The notifications only go off sometimes. There also no quick way to see if you even have a notification set, which is a pain. Also, after checking off a task for yesterday, it didn’t refresh for the next day despite being a daily task, totally defeats the purpose.

### 3/5 — Great...almost.

*2017-11-14*

I love this app. It’s easy and extremely useful. I am unable to actually use it because the notifications do not get my attention. I have ADHD and I tend to need notifications/alarms that are loud and persistent, especially if I’m hyperfocused on something. For some reason I do not get the sound/haptics on my watch and even when I change my settings I don’t hear the notifications on my iPhone ☹️. I intend to send the developer an email and hopefully they can improve the notifications!

### 2/5 — Not for me

*2017-09-07*

This app is ok if you purely only want repeating tasks. It would be nice to have the one off tasks (i.e. To Do Lists, etc.) as well. It would also be nice if you could rearrange the order of the tasks. Not what I wanted so I've deleted it.

### 2/5 — Missing notifications which kills this app

*2017-01-09*

Please add notifications. To me this is worthless without

### 4/5 — Problem With Latest Update?

*2015-04-14*

This has long been a reliable app — simple, straightforward.

The latest update, however, seems to have impacted the UI. Entries appear correctly in landscape orientation, but not in portrait.

I am contacting developer, and am wondering if others are experiencing this?

### 2/5 — Needs Cloud Sync!!!

*2015-04-12*

I have had this app going all the way back since my original iPad. It fills a specific niche need. However, as I have added iPhone (4s, now 6), then iPad Mini, I have discontinued use of this app. Why? Because I had set up such a comprehensive list on my first iPad, and I have kept believing that in short time, the developer will update the app with a sync function. I even emailed them about it to specifically request that feature after waiting for several months and it didn't appear! They assured me it was planned for future development. When I got notification that it had been updated recently , I though the time had finally come . . . Not so. Very disappointed. Cannot understand why the developer after 3 (?) years of sync through the cloud being available, has still not made this feature a part of the app. If it had it, it would be a Five-Star App again!

### 2/5 — Seems like a good idea

*2015-03-03, version 3.0.5*

I probably would like this app as the idea is what I've been looking for however the buttons don't seem to be working correctly and inputting new tasks is very difficult.

### 3/5 — Great app, needs sync

*2014-12-21, version 3.0.4*

This is a great app but PLEASE add sync capabilities through the cloud.

### 4/5 — Useful app

*2014-10-22*

A useful app that I use to help build healthy habits (workout, journal, take vitamins) as well as chores like laundry, etc. My one suggestion would be to allow us to go back to previous days to see what tasks/habits went unchecked so you can get a clear picture of what you missed. Unless I'm missing something, it starts fresh each day with no history of future viewing options.

### 4/5 — Pretty good.

*2014-09-09, version 3.0.2*

I love this app, as I needed one specifically for my daily repeating tasks and it delivers. However, on the iPad version, I'd really like it if more text was visible (the tasks names get cut off after maybe 5cm across the tablet leaving LOTS of room where more text could have been shown). For example, one of my tasks is 'morning stretches after waking up or showering' and it only will read as 'morning stretches after w'. There's lots of space left to see the rest of the name!

### 4/5 — Good app

*2014-08-25*

Well designed app.

### 2/5 — NEEDS SYNC !!!

*2014-04-18*

1 device = 5 stars
2 or more devices = hassle!!
Please add syncing capabilities!!!
Love this app, but...as often as you need to check off tasks, syncing is desperately needed!
Syncing between devices will bring my rating back up to 5 stars immediately! Right now, I cannot recommend this app anymore to family & friends :( hope to be able to again soon

### 2/5 — Meh...just ok

*2014-01-29*

Could be so much better, but it's pretty nominalistic in features.

### 2/5 — Very confusing

*2013-12-06*

Needs to be much simpler. Much much simpler. Couldn't even make one task. Lots of the options are masked by some bug too

### 3/5 — Good, but no multiple device sync

*2013-01-22*

While this is a universal program, there isn't any way to sync information from one device to another. Manually entering things of multiple devices is cumbersome. Would be 5 stars if iCloud or another method of syncing on multiple devices was possible.

### 4/5 — great concept. challenging

*2013-01-15, version 2.6.2*

works great on my iP4 iOS5. great gameplay fun and addictive

### 3/5 — Basic but reasonably effective, up to a point

*2012-10-27*

It does about what you would hope it would do, and no more. It's fairly simple to operate. The key reason I use it is that it allows me to keep the in-built Apple Calendar and Alarm Clock apps clear of regular tasks, and (crucially for me) when the "alarm" comes up for these regular tasks the sound will not override the "Silent" setting of the phone. So I don't constantly have my phone alarm going off at work to tell me to do some arm stretches or get ready to set off for my Pilates class.

However there's no decent information on the Context and Tags on the support page - what do these mean, how might you use them, what difference does it make to the display / operation of tasks? Who knows.

Also, there's no way to specify that (say) a daily task should occur on only some days of the week. This is a significant oversight - even Apple's own very basic Alarm Clock achieves this. Instead I suppose all you can do is create the task as a weekly task, multiple times over for each day of the week when you want it to apply.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn't sync!!!

*2014-02-23, version 3.0*

Read about this app on a blog, it sounded great, but after buying I discovered it doesn't sync between devices!!! Without that ability, it's not worth $2.99!!!

### 1/5 — Doesn’t let you choose several days (weekdays)

*2014-02-12*

IT seemed to have all we needed, downloaded it and realised it doesn’t let you choose days of the week - it only lets you have tasks daily (every single day), every few days, weekly etc.
I needed to set daily tasks for weekdays only - doesn’t do it!
Waste of money.

### 1/5 — Does Not Sync between iPhone and iPad

*2014-01-13, version 3.0*

WASTE of $

### 1/5 — Ipad1 out?

*2012-10-02, version 2.6*

Upgrade will not download to ipad1. Are users done with upgrades for this iPad? Requires ios6!!

### 1/5 — Scheduler not Routines

*2012-04-12, version 2.5.4*

Terrible app and now to be deleted from my iPhone. Routines doesn't sync to my calendar app and having to set a time of day is dumb.

### 1/5 — Awful

*2011-09-25, version 2.5.2*

Crashes on almost every screen change. Check off does nothing. Must have been written by monkeys.

### 1/5 — Potential

*2011-03-31, version 2.5.2*

This app. has potential, but I can't get past having to set a time to do everything. That is a SCHEDULE, not a ROUTINE!

### 1/5 — I agree - it doesn't work

*2011-02-04*

Got this to remind me of simple daily tasks (take pills in AM, read for an hour, etc.) but it doesn't even do that. Daily tasks sometimes roll as 'completed' on the next day (so now at 9am I've taken my evening pills, eh?), weekly alarms are bizarre (a Saturday task with a 'one hour before' reminder comes up on Wednesday) and there are no badges so if I don't look back at the program, I can't if anything is hanging undone. The program is useless.

### 1/5 — Date & time worthless

*2010-12-25, version 2.5*

Maybe it's an iPad thing, but you can't set due times for any time but the current time. For "weekly" tasks, there is no two week option, and for monthly tasks, I can't set the due date for any day but today. So, setting a reminder to throw out my contacts every two weeks starting a week from Monday is impossible. I'd have to set up two monthly ones and do it on that day for it to alarm next month. If I were that good, I wouldn't need reminding!

Upgrade to the paid version?? I can't even enter the first two tasks I thought of.....

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Uncluttered yet has everything

*2025-05-20*

I love using this app to organise my routine tasks for the week. It has so many options for organising the tasks yet it never feels cluttered or too complicated like so many of the to-do apps out there.
It’s also great for habit forming.

### 5/5 — Love Using it Every Day

*2020-08-10*

I live a very busy, active lifestyle with 4 children in tow, this app helps me stay focused on the daily/weekly tasks that need to get done. Would be great if the tasks could easily be re-ordered. Other than this, love it!

### 5/5 — Uncluttered yet has everything

*2019-07-12, version 3.5.5*

I love using this app to organise my routine tasks for the week. It has so many options for organising the tasks yet it never feels cluttered or too complicated like so many of the to-do apps out there.
It’s also great for habit forming.

### 5/5 — Great solution I have been looking for

*2017-03-23*

I have tried many, many checklist apps (some free, many paid) to get something where I could make routine checklists for each part of the day. I really want to keep these constantly repeating tasks out of my task manager (OmniFocus) to prevent clutter. While there are changes I would make based on my personal use of the app (weekly tasks with no particular day set), default view hiding checked off tasks), overall the app is so smooth and so much what I have been wanting that I have to give it 5 stars. Minor request: would be nice to have the items completed not be visible.

### 5/5 — Fantastic and unique

*2016-04-20*

Having looked into 5 other mainstream apps for productivity this app offers a unique simple solution to tracking things you do every day/week/month/year

I have my daily tasks set so they do not repeat on my days off, brilliant as other apps didn't offer this. It allows for variables: most apps want you to say which day you're doing something whereas this app has the freedom for you to say "yeah I've done that this week already" it sounds simple but again really hard or impossible to do on others apps

If I had to ask the developers for one thing it would be an Apple Watch supporting app for effortless reminders or just to view the app on the watch face like the "Things" or "todoist" apps allow you to. I'm not buying those apps as Routines is the unique solution I'm after but an watchOS app would be amazing.

Overall recommend this app to anyone that does the same stuff every day or week that never wants to miss a thing. Has really helped my productivity and increased my integrity.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2014-01-03*

Does what it is saying. Completely satisfied. Tried with lot of other applications, but this is very useful to track your daily activities. Highly recommended.

### 5/5 — Very good app

*2012-10-15*

This app is unique in the variety of ways to set it up in settings. To counter done of the bad reviews you CAN set for auto uncheck for your tasks. The daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly can sll be customized and , yes you can add and edit tags. Well thought out.

### 5/5 — Routines

*2012-09-18*

This is the single best routine app out there. You define your routines by day, week, month & year. Then you simply follow them & check them off. My daily routines include a complex regimen of medications & reminders for myself & hubby. Checking them off as I go helps me see what I've done & what remains at any point. The push reminders are terrific, keeping me on schedule, and I can either hit one button to reset for tomorrow at day's end or go into settings & have the app do it for me. Through options I have choices of how I want my day divided; same for week & months too. I have my year divided into the months of the year so as not to forget year end stuff, January stuff, etc. It's one of the top five apps I have, and I have purchased over $600 in apps so far. This is truly a fundamental app to life organization!

### 5/5 — Routines is a great app!

*2012-05-05*

I am writing this 5 star review to offset the poor reviews listed below. Routines is a wonderful app! I have been using it for at least three years and have never had a problem with it.

### 5/5 — Tomas Shlips

*2012-01-20*

Statistics, as someone mentioned before, would be a perfect addition. But overall this is a good app that does everything it was created to do.

I don't like to leave ratings or reviews and actually am really critical to most of apps I own, but this time I felt a need to leave a good word and encourage developers to continue their work.
