## What is Routinist?

Routinist helps you achieve goals and build habits by scheduling time for them as part of your everyday routines.

***WHY***

I built Routinist because I got tired of having excuses for why I wasn’t taking action on my goals: I don’t have time... I’m too tired… I forgot… etc. Routinist eliminates these excuses for me.

Becoming a better you is hard. It requires motivation, planning, commitment and execution. Only you can keep yourself motivated and committed over the long term. The purpose of Routinist is to help with the planning and execution parts, so you can improve your health, achieve your goals, and continue becoming a better you.

***HOW***

Step 1: List your typical morning routine actions and estimate time for each action. This can be super simple (get ready for day for 45 mins), or as detailed as you like (floss 1m, brush 3m , shower 10m, shave 5m, etc.).

Step 2: Enter your desired sleep and Go Time (the time you need to leave for work).

Step 3: Add new actions (those small steps towards your goals like flossing or exercising) and their estimated time, and insert them into your routine.

Routinist uses this info to remind you when to wake up and go to bed so you have time for your routines and get the sleep you need. Take action during the time you most control: your mornings and evenings. Routinist removes the ‘when’ so you can focus on the ‘what’.

***WHAT***

• Build morning (and evening!) routines
• Wake up and bed time reminders
• Understand your time constraints and prioritize
• Reduce decision fatigue
• Routines sync with your Apple Calendar!
• Optimize your routine: tweak the time, order and frequency of actions for any routine any time (yes – even during an active routine)
• Complete actions, skip actions, and undo skip/complete as needed
• Continuously updated routine completion times
• Timers & notifications for each action
• Apple Watch! Complete, Skip, Pause & Resume from the notifications on the Apple Watch or iPhone notification center
• Flexibility: schedule actions on certain days each week or every x days, x weekdays, etc.
• Progress Tracking for a birds eye view of your progress
• Detailed History of every routine
• Dark Mode
• 120+ action ideas with suggested times

***WHO***

You.

Routinist is probably very different from any other app you’ve tried, and it takes some getting used to. But I strongly believe this unique approach to achieving your goals will make your life better.

“Anyone can list out their goals, but they will be quickly abandoned without the help of an app like this… No other goal app compares to Routinist. Worth the time to learn.”

“This app enabled me to establish a regular morning routine for the first time in my 45 years of life.”

“If you have different times for leaving to work/school everyday but similar morning tasks this is perfect. It is worth the time to try it.”

"Your app has enormous potential in helping others reach theirs."

### 1/5 — Still having problem restoring purchase

*2025-10-25, version 2020.8*

After clicking restoring purchase button, the app tells me purchase has been restored, but still unable to access premium feature after that, please fix, unsubscribed for now, otherwise this is one of my favorite apps for productivity!

### 1/5 — App no longer maintained. Premium no longer functional.

*2024-12-24, version 2020.8*

Sadly, this app appears to no longer be maintained. The premium features are no longer functional. You can subscribe (and you will be charged as normal if you do), but none of the premium features unlock, despite the subscription.

This is happening to both my partner and me on multiple devices. (We’ve tried uninstalling, reinstalling, restoring past purchases, everything you can imagine. This isn’t functional for us anymore.) We’ve emailed the developer several times and have received no reply. We’re really sad to say that we think this app is done.

PAST REVIEW: I love this app. It’s far better than having your routine items somewhere more rigid. Using it, you can go a little long on some activities and then compensate by cutting short other activities without having to recalibrate everything. My highest wish for the app would be for it to sync across devices so my iPad and iPhone would be in sync. (I’d probably also use it on the Mac, since I have an M1, which can run iOS apps.)

### 1/5 — Abandoned

*2024-12-12, version 2020.8*

A solid one star unfortunately. I love it and have used it for years but the functionality diminishes regularly. I’m disappointed because I’ve tried every single routine app out there and this one was exactly what I needed. Premium no longer works and the app has lost a lot of its shine. It crashes on several screens and because you can’t upgrade, it’s not worth a lot anymore.

If the developer would come back it would be a five star app again.

### 1/5 — CHARGED WITH NO PREMIUM BENEFITS

*2024-08-11, version 2020.8*

I love everything about this app and have had for over 7 years. It was so helpful to where I really just lean on it periodically, like when I incorporate a new routine or use as a reset when I feel a routine needs tweaking. Even though I take long breaks from it, I still happily paid the premium of what was previously $2.99 a month, because I believed in it.

So imagine my surprise when I access the app and it tells me that I do not have a premium subscription, which is now $4.99. It’s not the increased cost that bothers me. What’s concerning for me, is that I have still been charged $2.99 monthly by Routinist for at least the past year. This charge has appeared on my Apple receipts monthly, and as of today, the monthly charge of $2.99 appears on my subscriptions page in the App center.

So yeah, Routinist has charged me $3 a month for NOT having a premium account. For at least a year not even joking.

### 5/5 — A great help for the time blind

*2024-07-28, version 2020.8*

I was looking for an app like this for a long time before I found this one. I was even looking into learning how to create apps, just so that I could have something that would work for me. Fortunately, I found an app that does exactly what I need in order to manage my time well.

Of all the time management apps that I’ve tried, and I tried a lot, this is the only one that works backwards from the time you need to leave the house, and depending on how long each task takes, tells you when you need to get up.

### 1/5 — Abandoned

*2024-07-27, version 2020.8*

Agree with this:

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. THE DEVELOPERS HAVE APPARENTLY ABANDONED THIS APP. MY PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTION NO LONGER WORKS AND CANT BE RESTORED. IVE CANCELLED IT.

I even cancelled my subscription and then started it up again. The premium functions worked one day and then stopped again. This app should be removed from the App Store.

### 3/5 — Lovely abandonware

*2024-06-13, version 2020.8*

I love this app, but there is NO WAY it is worth $60 per year for an app that does one thing and hasn't been updated since the Covid pandemic.

### 5/5 — Really helps me time block my morning

*2024-06-06, version 2020.8*

The other reviews have led me to believe that this app is no longer being actively supported by the creator (who, if I recall correctly, also has ADHD and I assume has lost interest/motivation for now in favor of a new project). That’s the only thing that has prevented me from getting the paid version, as I find this app much easier to use than other routine/time-management apps I’ve tried. Fortunately, the lack of updates has not interfered with this app’s functioning at all, and I definitely recommend it!

I only wish I could add additional routines (something that’s available in the paid version), and I kind of wish the bars extended to visualize the extra time spent when I go overtime on a task. I also wonder if timer circles would work better for me rather than timer bars/lines. However, I love that even in the free version you can enter up to 15 tasks and that you can constantly move those tasks around or edit them when you need to change things up from one day to the next.

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2024-04-07, version 2020.8*

Have found this app so helpful in understanding how long tasks will take and not forgetting any steps in my morning and night routine. I also am motivated to race the clock so I find myself getting more and more efficient. I really have found it so helpful.

### 2/5 — Premium doesn’t work

*2023-10-07, version 2020.8*

I pay for the Premium plan and don’t have access to my Other Routines. Keep saying I don’t have Premium. I restore my purchase and it continues to say I don’t have it but i pay every month.

Version 2019.1:

SUMMARY

Routinist was built to focus on the time you can most easily control, your mornings and evenings. However, many of you have requested the capability to create mid-day or one-off routines for the things that don't always fit into your mornings or evenings (Gym, Study, Lunch, etc).

*** NEW PREMIUM FEATURE ***
• Other Routines -> Premium Subscribers can now create unlimited additional routines. I think you'll really enjoy interacting with these updated, yet familiar routines. And I hope they help you accomplish even more.

*** SOME OF MY NEXT TO DOs ***
• Calendar Sync - Add the ability to pick which Calendar your routines are assigned to (routines currently appear in the default Calendar).
• Other Routines - Add the ability to set start time reminders for these mid-day routines (I would suggest trying Apple's Reminders app in the meantime).

Please email routinistdeveloper@gmail.com if you have thoughts/questions/suggestions/etc.

Thank you for your support!
