### 4/5 — Nearly perfect

*2021-03-15, version 1.5.13*

This is an awesome slider, my only gripe is that most of my shots are done with an iPhone. This means I have to start the slider and then work the camera settings while the slider is in motion. All of this could be avoided by adding an app to the Apple Watch!!

Hint hint

### 2/5 — This app needs an update

*2021-01-16, version 1.5.13*

This app is limiting honestly. For timelapse on the phone the maximum Quality is HD!! I hope you add the 4k option. As well for stop motion or manual time lapses add an option to manual move one step in the controls. Last update was more than 8 month ago it has potential but you guys beed to work on it. As well if it would make huge improvements if you guys make it compatible with the Filimic pro app as it has all the necessary controls for video and timlapse and should be way easier to develop.

### 2/5 — Features don’t work

*2020-04-10, version 1.5.12*

Controls the slider fine, but the timelapse fester (which is headlined in the App Store photos) doesn’t work. After time lapses the app crashes. This has led to wasted hours. Support says the features aren’t supported despite being advertised in the App Store.

The hardware slider has been great but the software support for it has been really disappointing.

### 4/5 — CAN YOU PLS UPDATE THE APP????

*2019-12-29, version 1.5.11*

I love this Slider, amazing heavy duty and smooth. But recently had issue with the app, crashes non stop and can’t control the slider. Pls update the app.

Thank you

### 4/5 — U don’t need hardware

*2019-12-17, version 1.5.11*

The opening set up made it appeared as u need their hardware to use the app. But actually not true, u can still use their app to take time lapse without their hardware.

### 2/5 — Not updated to take advantage of iPhone 11 Pro Max

*2019-10-26, version 1.5.11*

No zoom on the time lapse, no .5 camera option , no long exposure— not fully using what this phone is capable of.

### 4/5 — App Works Great

*2019-02-25, version 1.5.10*

No problems using the app as of yet.
Saves fine and does the job.
It would be very useful if we could specify exact intervals though if it could be included in future updates?

### 2/5 — ?????

*2018-11-26, version 1.5.10*

I need to get a rhino gear in order to use this app?? Oh can i use this without having a rhino gear???????

### 4/5 — Pretty good once you get into it

*2018-07-25, version 1.5.8*

Kind of a pain to get into the app if you don’t have a slider. But once your into the app it works good. Easy to use.

### 3/5 — Simple interface. Just ok.

*2018-07-02, version 1.5.8*

No exposure ramping feature when using with dslr/mirrorless. So best for time lapses where exposure isn’t changing.

### 3/5 — Ease let us use the app without the gear

*2018-05-31, version 1.5*

Please make it like before woch we could use the app without any gears please :((

### 3/5 — Updated but still missing vertical

*2018-05-31, version 1.5*

I don’t understand why you still force users to turn horizontally. It’s creatively limiting. The new update brought a slightly faster start up time, but the whole “connecting to RŌV” when just using an iPhone on a gorilla pod is confusing

### 4/5 — Simple and easy

*2017-12-12, version 1.4.3*

I was using ProCam and found it frustrating.. i paid for the 4k max setting to use the whole sensor read out.. with Storyteller you just get it.. love the simple and easy to use interface. Switching to this!

### 2/5 — Awesome Features When It Works

*2017-11-29, version 1.4.3*

The intro video takes too long when it's a fresh start, so that's kind of annoying.

The functionality is awesome and the fidelity of the controls when you're setting up a shot are perfect. Unfortunately, the app crashes way too often. I had around 4 crashes in my 6 attempts and one of those was an hour long timelapse that looked like it was working but when I looked at the video again, it was under a second instead of a 1hr long 10sec timelapse.

### 3/5 — Almost cool

*2017-11-18, version 1.4.3*

All the features are cool with shooting and stuff. I like the intuitive manual brightness and focus. However, all my footage from outside the app is unreachable I’m account of the app crashing after I tap the plus sign. Kind of frustrating. Not quite unusable, but the regular stock iPhone camera is quicker to reach and if I can’t use that, then it’s a hassle. I have an 8 plus and would love to be able to use this more.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Just stopped working.

*2023-12-09, version 1.5.13*

Used it twice for photos and did alright. Tried to use it for video a month later and it just doesn’t go. I connect to the app, hit go to home and it just doesn’t move. Tried everything and it’s clearly just not working anymore.

### 1/5 — No updates for 3+ yrs

*2023-08-18, version 1.5.13*

Spent good money on their hardware and they have just abandoned the app. All the other reviews hit all the notes. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

### 1/5 — Drops Settings

*2023-07-20*

Forever dropping settings. The unit nearly chopped my thumb off. No safety stop on this thing so keep your hands away.

### 1/5 — App no longer functional in 2023

*2023-07-03, version 1.5.13*

This app no longer works (tested on iPhone 11 and iPhone 13). After taking the Timelapse footage, once you try to hit save, it will get stuck on an infinite spinner and won’t save your footage.

### 1/5 — I don’t write reviews unless the app is truly awful

*2021-06-25, version 1.5.13*

I bought the slider on a whim because these ROV motion devices appear to be on clearance. That said, the app makes the hardware close to unusable. When I tried to access the camera on myiPhone 11 Pro, I heard this weird buzzing from phone that I’ve never heard before. As it turns out, it was the optical image stabilizer going crazy in the phones wide angle camera. The resultant video was just this vibrating blurry mess. I only spent $70 on the slider when a year ago they were over 300. But even at that price it seems to be money wasted.

### 1/5 — Provide us point a to point b movements

*2020-09-18, version 1.5.13*

This slider dose not allow us to select the particular a to b positions, instead we need to run the full length of slider... which is point less .. i was mailing rhino gear for so long to implement this feature but no use ...at this point i will never invest in rhino gear...

### 1/5 — Horrible!

*2018-12-12, version 1.5.10*

The iPhone connects to the slider, but suddenly I have a black screen which affects all the other camera apps on my phone! The app works great with small camera but not so much with the iPhone. Why does it take 38 seconds on FAST to go from one end to the other on the iPhone side of the app, but 15 seconds on the small camera side?

### 1/5 — Can't use without Bluetooth?

*2018-12-03, version 1.5.10*

For some reason the app won't let you do anything without connecting to bluetooth. The app is junk now since it's unusable and expects me to use it with some glider

### 1/5 — Buggy and poor ui despite claims of improvement

*2018-07-26, version 1.5.9*

If I start a time lapse with my camera, I start it tells me I can disconnect. So I disconnect, if you reconnect it adds random number of hours, sometimes as long as 36! UI is poor on time lapse, you set shutter but you cannot set interval between shots, or duration only clips length. The clip length is the least important, interval and duration are far more important, the clip length is what it is, and edit it in post anyways. Very poor design. Giant boat anchor.

### 1/5 — Time lapse feature seems to be broken

*2017-11-16, version 1.4.3*

IPhone 8 Plus. When starting a time lapse, the screen goes black and nothing happens. The app is slow to respond in general and doesn't inspire confidence.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Please Read if you are having trouble connecting an iPhone!

*2021-07-03, version 1.5.13*

I tried connecting my brand new iPhone 12 max pro and received this error: rotate phone 90 degrees. Nothing happens no matter what I did because if you click the “X” it closes the app.

After searching for hours I found the problem. You have to drag from the upper right corner to the middle of the iPhone screen. There is a “landscape lock” that you’ll need to uncheck. Once you do that the product works great!

### 5/5 — Very good app !

*2020-06-02, version 1.5.13*

Love how easy to setup and hoping the beta version can become official soon !

Would love slot shoot in 4K 60p and Auto focus and exposure locked as well (since the beta version the ISO shutter and focus kept switching ....

### 5/5 — One of the best!

*2019-11-08, version 1.5.11*

I like this app for us beginners. Recommending this app for all the camera lovers.

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2018-07-27, version 1.5.9*

I love it!

### 5/5 — Great!

*2017-12-15, version 1.4.3*

Best photo/video tool on the App Store by far. Extremely user friendly and intuitive. Good job Rhino!

### 5/5 — Useful and As Advertised (and FREE)

*2017-11-14, version 1.4.3*

I really like this app because it provides manual control over time lapses similar to working with an actual camera, and it yields a great result.

The shutter speed options especially are extremely useful, making my iPhone the easiest way to make a nice looking time lapse, even though I have thousands of dollars worth of camera gear.

Plus, this app is entirely free! Most other apps have less features and cost money. There is just no down side to downloading this.

### 5/5 — Amazing UI

*2017-02-25, version 1.2*

Wow, what a work of art, so much hard work and dedication must have gone into this app. Bravo Rhino.

### 5/5 — so sick

*2016-11-11, version 1.1*

I'll be using it to shoot all of my time lapses

### 5/5 — Fantastic tool from an awesome company.

*2016-11-04, version 1.1*

Even in version 1.1, there are plenty of ways to shoot great video or timelapses. Simple to use, excited to see what's next for this app.

### 4/5 — The beta version is the best

*2024-06-25, version 1.5.13*

I’m using this app in combination with a ROV pro slider. I noticed the Betta version was available but never payed attention to it until recently. I wish I had used this on a earlier.
There’s lots of controls that make your iPhone act like a pro camera and also you can activate the slider with a clap via the microphone.
I still wish the PRO slider would be operated via remote control without the need of the app.
That would free up the iPhone to use other shooting apps and other devices like the Insta 360 Flow stabilizer for example. That would allow to do parallax fx in selfie mode.
Other possibility would be adding tracking face to the app so you can do sliding and tracking simultaneously. That would be awesome for blogging.
