## What is Rove?

That amazing trip is spread across five phones. Half the photos never make it to you.

Rove brings them together, without making everyone join another social network or upload their camera roll again.

ALL YOUR FAMILY PHOTOS, TOGETHER

See your own photos alongside the family photos. Rove will display photos taken from family members in near proximity.

Make a separate Space—a private photo timeline—for your family, friends, a trip, a child, or any group you want.

YOUR PHOTOS STAY WHERE THEY ARE

Rove uses Apple Photos. Your full-quality photos and videos stay in Apple Photos and iCloud. There is no second photo library to fill and no long upload.

FIND THE PHOTO IN YOUR HEAD

Type what you remember: “Disney last summer,” “beach sunsets,” “photos with the dog,” or even words from a screenshot. Rove finds the matching photos on your phone.

SEE YOUR WHOLE LIFE

Scroll through your days like a timeline. Pinch out and your memories become an explorable photo map. Move through one trip, one year, or your whole life.

CLEAR OUT THE JUNK

Rove finds screenshots, likely copies, and blurry shots. Review up to 200 at a time, see your progress, and pick up where you left off. Nothing is deleted until you say so.

MAKE SOMETHING NEW

Bring a favorite photo to life as a short video. Change a picture with a simple request. Or make a new image or video from words. Once your request is sent, you can leave Rove while it creates. Come back to Your creations to watch, save to Apple Photos, or share. Unsaved results are available for seven days.

SEE YOUR MEMORIES EVERY DAY

Rove Live keeps a small album fresh with photos from your timeline. Choose it once for your iPhone wallpaper, Apple Watch face, or Apple TV screen saver.

Rove does not replace Apple Photos. It makes the photos you already have easier to share, find, and enjoy.

### 1/5 — Fails on multiple counts

*2024-10-13*

I’ve tried this application for several months now hoping that it could provide a solution to organizing approximately 42000 photos in an efficient and accessible way. It has failed on both counts. Not only after several months of use has it failed to upload anywhere near all the photos but the approximately 20000 that have been uploaded are inaccessible due to the constant pending operations notice which at first would go away after several attempts to call up the node and edges screen. So, essentially, the photos that are uploaded, are no longer viewable, and the rate of successful uploads and classification is such that it may never complete.
I have notified the developers of the pending operations notice and not received any response and since there has also been no fix made in an update it is a waste of time and money to continue the grindingly slow upload in hopes that something miraculous will occur upon completion.
It would be fantastic to see a developer present a true directed graph database for this purpose with enough server resources to handle to upload and content classification and the retrieval/query process as well. Perhaps someone will make the attempt with neo4j or similar semantic database and adequate computing resources for the job. As for now, I will hope that Apple’s photo library with tag support coupled with Apple Intelligence integration will make the query and self-classification provide something approaching the semantic/directed graph database capabilities.
I cannot recommend this product for more than a couple of thousand photos and even then not if the content should be expected to grow.

### 4/5 — Directed graph database

*2024-04-11*

Finally, someone has had the sense to put together a graph database which avoids all of the ridiculous restrictions and constraints within relational databases and allow one to be able to create queries that meet many, many types of situations rather than ones that had to be anticipated at the time of the creation of the database. Remains to be seen here is the implementation of the human interface and creating nodes relationships, etc. and how easy it is for the average person to do these things. The application itself contains little information or help and could be greatly improved with prompting and guidance based on context. There are videos to help guide the neophyte through exactly what a graft database is and how to form relations, attributes, etc. however the ones I have viewed are rather rudimentary. I am still working my way through these and intend to come back and expand on this review based on the information contained in the videos. The potential is definitely here. The opportunity to make this into a true semantic database is here as well. The ease with which the graph can be created along with the ease with which you can be cried I’ll be the determining factors as to whether this succeeds means organizing photos. I’m very excited to a found this application. I wish the same fundamental techniques such as directed graphs would be applied and many more situations, as people will find their intuitively much easier to use and traditional databases. We’ll see how the implementation plays out.
I return at this point to say that after several days of processing, only 221 of over 42,000 photos have uploaded and received default classifications. Please, please find a means of expanding processing on the server end or I’ll die of old age before my photos reach the server. I’d also like to see a way to incorporate the tag information that has been added on the iPhone end as data for network nodes. Lastly, if only this followed fully the directed graph/semantic graph model, the incredible power obtained for queries would make this the premier storage/retrieval means for commercial image and video data systems. Companies with products such as Neo4j have the server-side software already available. What is lacking is the ease of use front end work.
My decades of photos and videos are precious beyond description to me and the ability to find exactly what I’m looking for is the key to making the collection useful. Please continue to develop this product. To me it would be worth many times the current cost if developed further in these directions and server speed issues are resolved.

### 5/5 — Content creator’s problems solved!!! Finally 🙌🏻

*2021-08-13*

I have +90,000 photos on my phone which are completely disorganized! Rove solved that problem by letting me organize them like I would in my brain! I now have folders for my personal stuff, home decor which has inner folders (nodes) inside separating the decor style. The same for fashion, blogs, cooking, etc!!! It’s a content creator’s dream! Thank you Rove for creating something I needed 🤍

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 7.3 — 2026-09-08

This update preserves dates and tags when bringing older Rove photos into your library, helping your memories stay organized in the timeline and search.

We've also improved the optional advertising-permission flow and made your current choice clearer in Settings. If the permission prompt hasn't appeared, you can request it directly from Advertising measurement. Tracking remains optional.

### 7.2 — 2026-09-07

Creating with your memories is now much smoother.

• Choose any photo from Apple Photos when making an image or video.
• Tap your selected photo or finished creation to see it full screen.
• Generated videos start playing automatically, with clear Play and Pause controls.
• Your latest unsaved image or video stays in place while you try another idea.
• Restoring an existing Rove membership now takes you straight back into the app.

More control over advertising measurement:
• Choose whether Rove can share app activity and subscription events with Meta to measure Rove ads.
• Review your choice in Rove Settings and open iPhone Settings to change it.
• Keep using Rove normally if you decline. Your photos, searches, name, and email are not included in this measurement.

We also fixed layout issues after creating an image, improved the creation screen, and separated free trials from paid subscriptions in advertising reports.

### 7.0 — 2026-09-06

This is the biggest change Rove has ever made.

• No more uploading your camera roll. Your photos stay in Apple Photos and iCloud.
• See your Personal Library, iCloud Shared Library, and selected Shared Albums together, with an easy setup guide.
• Search the way you remember: “Disney last summer,” “the dog at the beach,” or words inside a screenshot.
• Pinch the timeline into an explorable map of your life.
• Clear clutter in batches of up to 200, track your progress, and continue later. Nothing is deleted without your approval.
• Open Favorites as a photo grid, then swipe through your photos and videos full screen.
• Share the full-quality photo or video straight from Rove.
• Bring a photo to life, change one, or make a new image or video from words.
• Leave while Rove creates. Come back to Your creations to watch, save, or share the result.
• Choose a heads-up when your creation is ready, shared album photos arrive, or an old favorite is worth revisiting.
• Keep favorite memories moving across your iPhone, Apple Watch, and Apple TV with Rove Live.

Your existing Rove membership still works. Restore Purchases is available in Settings.
