### 3/5 — Needs an update / Notes

*2023-09-16*

Great idea and integration with CAD. Though, it’s buggy and needs some UI adjustments and an overall polishing. No update in over a year - where’s the attention ESO? Notes or in this case the “narrative” should be entered top (most recent) down. I shouldn’t have to scroll all the way to the bottom to see the newest note. I’d also love to see a version/ mode built especially for in vehicle use ie: better tracking and have the new notes make a noise etc. Needs a DND (do not disturb) button in app toggle. Only need it on during certain times and is annoying to have to go into settings. Should show all active calls on homepage not just the most recent. Times also buggy and do update live while viewing.

### 3/5 — Overall Good, But Bad Bug

*2022-07-05, version 07.12.01*

Overall the application does exactly what it is supposed to do.

Bad bug though…. When I go to change settings and hit save (ie. Changing the time, etc.) the setting do not save after hitting save button. When it’s fixed I’ll increase the stars.

### 3/5 — Could do so more

*2022-03-03*

This app could do so more. System needs to be updated to be able to silence certain notifications as an example allows structure fire but silences ems call.
Look at Pulse point or almost any of the others out there.

### 2/5 — Not developed by experienced responders

*2021-06-19, version 07.10.00*

Several issues with this app.

1) if another call comes in, you’re kicked out of the call you are viewing, which is especially egregious while trying to view maps.

2) the recent location upgrade stupidly asks to change every time I open the app. I don’t have time for that idiocy while try to respond and view information.

3) preplans ignorantly open in the web browser and require a login to Emergency Reporting. Yet, I can only access the preplan, not all of emergency reporting. It is a hideous waste of time while trying to respond. Preplans then become worthless because I don’t have time to access them prior to arrival and formulate a response plan.

4) does not reliably refresh with new calls without having to restart the app.

There is potential for good stuff in this app. But these issues make it very unfriendly to practical, efficient, and rapid use during an emergency response. Too many of its special features are too far in to get data within the seconds needed.

### 3/5 — Can’t mark my self out of service if out of Town

*2021-06-13*

Calls come in delayed can’t mark my self out of service if I’m out of town for a day or 2

### 2/5 — Not all of the features work

*2013-09-10*

Firstly, a few things that drive me nuts.

Mapping feature does not actually register an address. Every time I click the map, it drops a pin on Antigua.

The selectable tone feature only works ONCE when you initially set up the app, after that the tone you selected is it until you delete and reinstall.

The pop up box when a call drops blocks the call information. If you're fire and it's an EMS call, how can you choose properly without closing the pop up and clicking the bottom menu?

The bottom menu is buggy, works sometimes.

For a tech company, this is borderline Busch League.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App closing its doors

*2024-05-10*

One star for leaving emergency responders alone and behind, suddenly and with little notice. Forcing entire departments to identify a new system, migrate all the users, and pay more for less features from one of the very few competitors.

Another useful app ruined after being bought out by a bigger company (ESO). Nothing like capitalism at its best, lining the pockets of its new owners and leaving the little guys without service. I want off this ride, this is exhausting.

### 1/5 — Volume

*2023-07-09*

The volume of the alarms are extremely loud to the point of being startling. I can’t find any way of turning them down. You can’t silence the alarms without going into the app and disabling them. Then when you’re on call you have to turn them back on.

### 1/5 — Not good

*2022-11-15*

Do not depend on the map. The mapping is bad, wrong address, wrong street. Can’t wait till we drop this app. This needs to be redone before lives are lost.

### 1/5 — Not ready for prime time

*2021-03-17*

Icons to small map has no line showing you and a route to the fire

### 1/5 — So far it a no go

*2019-03-22*

App is not good at all. Went to their website offers a 60 day trial. Doesn’t say anything else about cost or set up.

### 1/5 — Doesn't Work

*2014-01-24*

Downloaded on my iPad and it doesn't work. I then tried it on my iPhone 5 ... I was able to view a map of my local area until I navigated with difficulty to a settings menu. It asked to input a phone number, which I did, and then I could not navigate from that menu. This has the potential to be a decent application, but way too many bugs.

### 2/5 — Alert Tones Won’t Change?!

*2022-11-06*

Why won’t the alert tones save after I change them?

### 2/5 — No widgets or watch face complications?

*2022-10-02, version 07.12.01*

GPS is spotty and fairly innacurate. That we’re on iOS 16 now and still don’t have a) widgets, b) Home Screen widgets, or c) Apple Watch complications for watch face is a surprising lack of development.

Features haven’t been added in years. Not months. Literally years. It’s a few seconds to open the app every time. No lock/code to protect the data (we use on our firetruck iPads and lock for this would be good just as TRACcess does). A Do Not Disturb bypass was the most welcome and most recent feature addition - over a year ago. Adding preplans is a pain online. Same for fire hydrants or notes for special houses (hoarding, group home, etc). The screen for “fetch” and “pin” is a nonsensical layout since day one and hasn’t changed. You’ll have more luck inserting a USB stick correctly before you figure out how to login in the first try. Overall this app is 2 of 5 stars, and that’s probably being generous. This is what happens when a big company buys a good app then lets it stagnate.

### 2/5 — Needs much improvement

*2022-08-02, version 07.12.01*

It is a very important and useful app for first responders however it is missing many useful features such as the option to mute or sleep the alarms coming from the app notification with out needing to silence or do not disturb my phone. Another useful feature would be to integrate the radio feed into the app so you can listen in to the feed from your department without needing a separate app for when your out of your district radio coverage. The biggest most important feature I can’t stress on enough is quicker response from when a call goes out as Rover has anywhere from an instant response to waiting over five minutes for the call log to show. The app fails to load when I click on a notification to load the app. You should make it easier and quicker to view a call, not needing to click on active call or whatever have you to view the call logs… time is important and you keep wasting it with these useless features and poor app response. Also having a limit for ten calls is ridiculous. My department gets more then ten calls daily and I can’t use the app to backtrack calls.
Having the app restart when I’m viewing a call and a new call comes in is unsafe and just plain rude. I’m reading a call log for an incident I should not have my screen change to a new incoming call without my do so.

### 2/5 — Os updates error with location settings

*2021-06-27, version 07.10.00*

The last update creates an error in sun Hong with your location setting preferences. Keep getting “Background location error”. I have updated Os, and reinstalled the app multiple times. Clearly this app developer wants to track your location in the background despite them telling you they don’t track your data…

### 5/5 — Great app for first responders

*2018-03-28, version 6.9.0*

This really helps us when we respond to a call in rural Vermont. Would be more helpful if it included our response to Mutual Aid calls in our district. Currently we do not hear when we are dispatched for mutual aid to an area town under their incident command. This system often works when our pagers don't!
We usually get the Rover alert before our pagers go off.
It is helpful to know when members without radios are responding direct or to the station.

### 5/5 — Excellent Resource

*2017-04-19*

We were searching for an application that would suite the needs for a volunteer fire department and every day usage. This application exceeds our expectations with the endless abilities to completely customize for our daily usage. Customizable features such as display use and look to complete designing of forms and checklists such as apparatus check sheets, rosters, fuel cards, etc. I definitely recommend this resource to any Emergency Services Organization.

### 5/5 — Great app gives info you need

*2015-11-02*

As an Asst. Fire Chief this app helps me know who is going to be there and also information on hydrants and pre-plans say nothing about location with mapping, type of call and the ability to message the whole department easily.

### 5/5 — ROVER App

*2013-04-13*

Awesome app!

### 4/5 — 10/10 like the app

*2024-04-09*

I been on my Fire Department since 2021 and the rover app is great to see what hydrates or whoever is responding. Yes we all have some type of issues with the app but it’s oh ok. Overall I think it’s a great app as for us firefighters.

### 4/5 — Car play

*2023-02-26*

Needs to be available on car play. Works pretty good as long as your 911 center is compatible.

### 4/5 — Has some Issues big overall Good

*2022-05-21, version 07.12.01*

Has a few bugs. Best thing about this is it shows who else is responding to a call if you happen to be away from your radio or don’t hear someone check on.

### 4/5 — Silent mode

*2021-05-23, version 07.08.00*

Other emergency service apps provide a feature that can override silent mode. I think that would be great to have. It’s actually almost essential.

### 4/5 — Great App, needs some updates!

*2018-03-13*

Wonderful App for my department! Helps us advance into the technical age! Really wish they would make the app more compatible with the iPhone X, though. Other than that, it’s amazing!

### 4/5 — Replaces Pagers!

*2015-11-02*

Replaces Pagers! Great app for volunteers
