The problem with Rover is its inconsistency with finding good dog sitters who are available. I’ve met just in my first session with two different dog sitters, drove in 3+ hours only for them to tell me either that they have canceled because something has come up or they would not even be able to take my dog out to pee every four hours, one guy noted. He works from 9 to 5, which would obviously not work if he took a second to read the profile before I drove over an hour, when Rover was informed about this, their decision was to credit me $20 for 3+ hours and two canceled bookings, deleting the app

Hi rover i’m a pet sitter on the app and the only thing i really have to say is can if I put myself as away or not available for certain dates could you please make so the family can’t request. I know the app said it won’t affect me but when i’m away on a trip or handling things I’m still can’t fully disconnect because I have to respond to families and tell them i’m not available.

After years and years of using rover for pet sitting I had a complete nightmare experience with a pet sitter that left my pets and home unsafe. When I complained, I was told that although my experience and safety are “important” to them, I do not qualify for any refund. They let just anyone work for them and your pets are NOT safe.

SOUNDS LIKE YOUR SITTERS ARENT HAPPY, ROVER. Owners can be verified with names like t.yuytk200, set pet as NA, get through verification for “1 pet” and then request 3. THEN, YOUR METRICS WILL BE PENALIZED. SECOND, Rover will allow owners to request you while other services are booked during the request time and then penalize your metrics for being “unavailable”. Sitters shouldn’t be penalized for trying to accommodate an owner. THIRD, fees aren’t worth the headache.

A couple months ago Rover introduced a "tiered system" for boarding pets. Basically, until you earn a certain amount from person X, they will increase their typical 20% cut (which is already a lot) to **30%** 🫪 

Basically a major incentive for people to take their services off the app. Boo capitalism. Literally no reason they needed to introduce this 'feature'.

The way the app works is inconvenient for everyone involved. After I put in the times I need petsitting, it should show me everyone who’s available during those times, as petsitters should preset what their availability is. Then, I should pick which sitters I want, and if they’re interested, then meet a few of them and select one. Currently you have to talk to a bunch of people and meet a bunch of people and apparently this lowers both parties internal rating which makes absolutely zero sense. Almost every other dogsitting app is better because it fundamentally understands sitter availability and interviewing petsitters.

A friend told us about this app.  We are so happy with the sitters/dog walkers we found.  Our dog loves them both!  No more begging family for help because we don’t want to kennel when we must travel without our dog.

We do have them come to our home instead of taking her to their home.  

One suggestion we have is the text messages should go to both of us.  When we aren’t together or one of isn’t available, the other should also know our sitter has reached out.
