In 2025, there really is no excuse for a streaming app to not have picture-in-picture functionality that allow users to multitask and continue to watch their movie in the streaming app, while they do other things on their device such as check email. All the best streaming apps (Prime Video, Google TV, YouTube, Fandango, etc.) have picture-in-picture capability. I’d love to see ROW8 get on board with this ASAP. ### 3/5 — Resuming where you left off is a pain *2022-03-06, version 3.1.2* Glitchy. I have been able to watch multiple movies with the family hassle free and I intend to continue to use them. Great selection! ### 1/5 — ROW8 has turned to ROW-hate for me *2021-02-23, version 2.2.4* I rented Cloud Atlas, it’s in my account history. I had to pause mid-way to take care of something. Somehow I got back to the main menu, now it won’t let me finish it, or start it over. On my Roku it won’t even find the movie, it restarts the app when I search for it. When I click to re-rent it from the Roku search menu from ROW8, it flakes out and won’t let me. I can find and watch it from the ROW8 app on my phone but NOT my TV? WTH? I can’t fine support anywhere else at all, so this review is my last resort. Please help ROW8, please tell me I haven’t just been scammed out of $3 for this movie I can’t finish. ### 1/5 — Scammers *2021-02-01, version 2.2.4* I paid $2.99 twice for the same movie and it won’t play. Not to mention on the app it says I have no order history, my bank account says otherwise. This is the most disgusting app i’ve ever come across, save your time and money. I have 2 days to watch it and this app seems determined to run out the clock. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Bad system *2026-03-12, version 3.4.6* No matter how many times I try to restart my phone or do anything to get the app to refresh the movie I’m watching just continues to lag stutter and blur not to mention sometimes I can’t even watch the movie because I’ll play like five seconds and then completely freeze And for some reason near the end of the movie, it started doing this weird thing where the audio would jump like 30 seconds into the movie and start playing audio from parts that I wasn’t even at yet if you’re not gonna take the time to develop an app that has a good system and that doesn’t have many bugs then you shouldn’t charge people 3 to 5 dollars for every movie Please if you wanna watch a movie go find a different app. This is not it. ### 1/5 — App crashes upon opening on both iOS devices *2025-08-02, version 3.4.3* The app now crashes upon opening on both my iPhone and iPad. Please fix, as this is obviously an issue on Row8’s end. I so want this app to be great. But an app crashing as soon as it opens is not great. ### 1/5 — Needs picture-in-picture capability *2024-11-13* This app desparately needs picture-in-picture capability. In 2024, the best streaming apps are those that have picture-in-picture capability so that users can continue to stream their content while doing these like multi-tasking to check email or work in other apps. It’s as if the developers of this app did not put any real thought into it. This app doesn’t provide the ability for picture-in-picture or even split-screen viewing. Please update this app as expiditiously as possible to provide picture-in-picture capability. **Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to share your product feature suggestion. We appreciate your input and will carefully consider it as we continue to improve our product. ### 1/5 — Terrible customer support *2023-10-06, version 3.2.6* Firstly, I was unable to purchase the Equalizer 3 from my iPhone because the buy button simply doesn’t work on my iPhone 14 Max Pro. I contacted their customer support via the iPhone app to report the bug for the third time and every time they respond via email with something along the lines of “it works on our end, maybe you should restart the app”. 2nd, I used my (Android) Galaxy Fold to purchase the movie instead. I received my Google gmail invoice showing my payment to Row 8 and order number and now the movie doesn’t show as purchased in my Row 8 library. I contacted Row 8 customer service again to gain access to my movie and they tell me “we are happy to hear from you, and we are sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue. In regard to your inquiry, the last transaction that appears in our system on your account was your purchase of Gran Turismo, which was on 9/27/23. We also do not have a record of your current transaction. As such, it appears that you may have encountered a transaction error.” Now I must jump through hoops and prove to them I bought the movie from their platform. ### 1/5 — This App is a Joke *2023-08-14* If I could give it 0 stars I would. Video quality was terrible, laggy and customer service was a joke for the price I paid to watch a movie. **Developer response:** Thank you for reaching out. Typically video quality is related to your internet connection at the time of streaming. The slower the connection, the lower the picture quality. The faster the connection, the better the picture quality. From what it sounds like, you experienced a buffering issue which is usually remedied by a restart of your modem/router as well as your device. They scammed me for $5.49. I will try and find a way to report this app. They offer movies at a lower price and they don’t play. It plays an ad for a different movie then it freezes when the actual movie happens. That’s why they don’t take PayPal. Garbage. Don’t waste your money or time. ### 1/5 — Wow *2022-05-24, version 3.1.5* Never had a problem till today. Just bought the movie Sonic 2. Checked my bank account showing a $18.99 purchase but I couldn’t see the movie?? So I purchased it again thinking it was just lagging and not cost me another $18.99 till I checked my bank account again only surely it did just that so I was charged twice smh if y’all ROW8 fam reading this I would really like my money back but I know I can kiss those extra 18 bucks goodbye. Tried on roku, online, and through app. Only get error, and no number to call for support. Only able to send email that says I’ll hear back in 24hours.
