### 3/5 — It’s Good, but one Huge flaw

*2026-08-20, version 1.56.6*

Huge fan of everything RP so I thought I would give this a try. It’s very clean and easy to use. However the reason for 3 stars is because it doesn’t do the one thing I need it for which is telling me my macros. I don’t know anyone who is serious about lifting and eating right that doesn’t meal prep for the week. So if I’m meal prepping on Saturday or Sunday and it’s not telling me the macros I should use for the next week because the previous week hasn’t ended then it defeats the entire purpose of having the app.

### 3/5 — Receipts are Half-Baked

*2026-08-17, version 1.56.5*

It’s clear that the app is being built by people who do not cook. The “recipes” function does not record the recipe yield making it not really useful for anything mor complicated than a bowl of cereal (ok, maybe a salad).

Overall I got an impression that the latest version was hastily vibe-coded with minimal QA or interface design. Not too bad, but far from ideal.

I liked the new scanner and label reader functionality. Not sure if they’ll be able to afford tokens for it for $99 a year without tuning it out of usefulness.

All and all if you are a gym enthusiast who doesn’t cook and eats packaged meals it remains a good option. Otherwise look elsewhere.

### 3/5 — Could use some improvements

*2026-07-04, version 1.54.4*

Unfortunately already paid for a year’s subscription but most macros are not accurate even when you upload a photo of the nutrition facts on the package. It seems to just spit out some random numbers. I like the idea but it needs some healthy improvements before it’ll be worthwhile. I’ve been having better luck just tracking on my own.

### 3/5 — USA only database

*2026-06-24, version 1.54.3*

The food database only has what appears to be US foods. I spotted a few UK supermarket items when searching but these are custom entries by UK users. People familiar with other tracking apps will need to add all their regular foods or find closest in macros from the selection provide, cross referencing with other apps.

### 3/5 — Only for pros. Not for the everyday man and woman

*2026-06-08, version 1.53.6*

So I really wanted to love this app because their hypertrophy app is GOATed. Unfortunately it’s not the most user friendly app and that matters for me because it’s what motivates me to track even through imperfect days, vacations, family and friends coming over when we order food etc. this review is meant to give my opinion and may change if the app gets better. All love.

For one, the roster of labels it can scan is not as good as other apps. I have had a not small number of products that I could not scan. And it’s not easy to just find normal food items that estimate a general macro breakdown based on weight that’s not tied to a brand. That already knocks off a star.

Second, even though the app has gotten significantly more forgiving than when I used it a few years ago, it’s still hard to be flexible. For one it locks you into a measuring unit that you have to change in a separate setting tab (so you either choose Oz, grams etc. unless there’s a way I don’t know). Why can’t we switch it per item added? Why am I forced to measure milk in grams and rice in oz? Why can’t I just select units that match the label or help me estimate per item?

Third, it’s incredibly hard to add in food items add hoc. Sometimes I’m out, I just want to add a snack or food item I had outside, I can’t just do a quick macro log, instead I have to either set up a whole new food item per gram, or add in a new meal and just check it in. It’s not smooth at all.

Fourth, why doesn’t it show macros and calories remaining? Most other apps show you not JUST what you consumed but what you have left. It’s a small thing but it helps (I’m not the best mental math guy so im
Always pulling out my calculator).

What ends up happening is I’m not motivated to log as much as I could. Yes it does a great job if you have every single meal planned to the gram, it does a good job estimating how many macros YOU need for the best results, but it’s been hard to use for me. Maybe I’m not disciplined but it just makes me want to switch. I’ve lost 25lbs by using a different app but wanted to give this a go again.

If you’re not a pro or have your entire life planned out, you have life that requires flexibility, meeting friends, days that vary, you’re working late and need to order take out etc etc it’s not the most user friendly.

### 2/5 — Not enough options!

*2026-05-24, version 1.53.4*

I fast for 36hrs on Sat-Monday and the app won’t allow the option to encode such. Also when it comes to fitness I train primarily M-F with Saturday being light cardio and Sunday no more than a nimble around town at most. The problem of these apps is they never allow full customisation. I downloaded this app cos I enjoy Mikes content but within 10mins and paying for the monthly sub I realised this app isn’t workable for my needs.

### 3/5 — Good for some

*2026-04-20, version 1.52.5*

I would’ve liked to have a preview before I paid for the subscription. As much as I like the strength app, the interface for this is busy and unusable and I’d like a refund.

### 2/5 — Free trial

*2026-03-24, version 1.51.9*

For something that doesn’t have a free trial, I would expect it to have majority of the calorie scans and also also let you put the correct grams of a food product to the T. For a 100 dollars I think I should of just just went with fitness pal. This app should be honestly attached to the fitness one for these prices. 3 days in using this thing and I honestly would want to get a refund and try out a different app.

### 2/5 — Not working

*2026-03-22, version 1.51.9*

Now since updating, when you plan your next week and add workouts, it adds calories to your day. Which is normal. But then when you try to save it says that you’re trending over your goal. Customer support is almost nonexistent for this app. Absolutely no help online.

### 2/5 — App used to be good

*2026-03-09, version 1.51.4*

I’ve had the app since it first came out and was using the diet templates before that. While I love updated features like being able to scan a label and having it import immediately for new or custom foods, the rest of the app just seems really difficult to navigate and difficult to use. My diet meal timing constantly makes no sense when I configure it and it doesn’t seem to reconfigure when I add workouts or change my sleep times. I prefer the old version of this app.

### 3/5 — Updates are losing their touch

*2026-03-07, version 1.51.3*

Long time user of the app since 2020 and have even beta tested a few things. I enjoy the new things of course however the constant updates to the user interface has been making the app less and less intuitive to use, and thusly less enjoyable. A lot of great features are hidden behind extra buttons which have made it a hassle to even check in with them. For instance I enjoyed having the food separated by their primary macros and RP recommended, now everything is search based and feels like just any other calorie counting app. I also enjoyed the ´save macro’ feature and the newest update has either completely removed that option or hidden it, it saved a lot of time in many ways.
I enjoyed this app because it made things that you would have had to do by hand streamlined and effective but more and more I have to just do it by hand then update the app so its defeating the whole purpose.

Overall it works great for the basic things but the updates are getting a little out of hand.

### 4/5 — Good but

*2026-02-27, version 1.50.45*

App is good but the accuracy of the calories matching what the package says do not match

### 1/5 — The diet worked but the app sucks

*2026-02-13, version 1.50.45*

I’ve used RP before. I came back to it after a 2 year break. The new app seems too complex and confusing. The old app was great.

### 2/5 — Not as user friendly

*2026-01-22, version 1.50.45*

The app was great, I used it for years just as a daily tool to make sure I don’t have any caloric creep. It was changes a few months ago and is practically unusable now. Very difficult to navigate and confusing compared to the earlier iteration. Still effective just too difficult to use

### 3/5 — Excellent app for locking in - but poor food database outside America lets it down

*2026-01-21, version 1.50.45*

This app has been the most successful in getting me to my goal weight whether it’s a cut or a bulk. The meal planning functionality is a complete game changer for me, especially. However, the barcode database in Europe is very, very poor. Almost nothing is recognised (while competitor apps like MacroFactor work flawlessly). It’s the one thing that will inevitably push me back to macrofactor once I get to my target wait and transition to maintenance where I introduce more varied “fun” food, and I’d hate to do it.

This has been an issue (lack of barcode food database in the EU) for several years. Yes you can add manually a custom food, but it somewhat defeats the point of the scanner. The databases must exist - other apps have them

I would love, love, love for an expanded database of food to be added (for the barcode scanning feature). You’d have a customer for life

Thanks in advance ❤️

### 1/5 — Do not download it from the UK

*2026-01-18, version 1.50.45*

Seems overly complicated and has no database for UK foods so have to enter everything manually. Spend more time logging than making some of the meals…

### 1/5 — About to delete

*2026-01-08, version 1.50.43*

Doesnt let you change units of measurement. No tutorials on how to use. Tiny writing. Complicated and difficult to use with no guidance.

### 4/5 — Love it but there is 1 major bug!

*2026-01-07, version 1.50.41*

Handy format and workarounds for night shift workers. The app makes it easy to stay on track and hit those goals!!

Only downside is it keeps glitching if I add/adjust my workout shake… sometimes it will clear everything I already logged for the day and set the day to 1 meal following my workout?! I have to go back and add all the meals back in 😣 Fix this bug and it will be great.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No option for workout shake

*2026-08-12, version 1.56.5*

The app does not have an option for intra workout shakes when making a schedule. If you want to use one, you have to click on every single day individually and go add it. INSANE. It’s like Dr Mike put a bunch of amateurs in charge of it. Use to be way better. Also locks you in hard to “it’s way” of doing the meals. Doesn’t show you your calorie or macro total for each day until the day is passed. So if you’re looking for live updates, this is NOT the app for you

### 1/5 — Nothing Unique Or Special Here

*2026-06-19, version 1.54.2*

This is basically a meal and macro tracking app, no different than any other tracking app. I was thinking that there was meal planning included, but there is not. No different from My Fitness Pal and basically just as expensive. I just wasted $20! If a tracking app is what you are looking for, there are cheaper and easier to use options out there.

### 1/5 — Too difficult to navigate

*2026-06-10, version 1.53.6*

I’ve had success using the fundamentals of RP but the app has gotten so complicated it’s not worth the headache any longer. Checking in meals, redistributing macros for the day (and saving that setting for the length of the diet), realistic redistribution (ie don’t tell me to eat 300g of red meat to reach a goal- tell me to add another meal!)…. But over all what was doable is just too time consuming to find the simplest of things.

### 1/5 — Sucks Big Time

*2026-05-28, version 1.53.4*

This app does not add up the daily totals. After you spend all day imputing the meals you’re eating, it simply just reminds you what your target total for the day was. If you want to figure out your daily totals you have to write them down and add them in paper. What’s the point?

### 1/5 — Shampoo-drinkingly awful UI

*2026-05-14, version 1.53.2*

This app has gotten me shredded but the new AI features make this app unusable. The old interface was better, the new interface is impossible, I don’t even enter my macros every day because the AI automativally adjusts the macros of my other meals if I only enter in one meal. Also, it’s impossible to schedule a workout without it doing weird stuff like giving me crazy macros or moving my workout where it doesn’t belong, like before any meals or after any meals instead of where I want it, which is after my first and second meals. There doesn’t seem to be a way to fix this even when I manually type in exactly what time I want my meals and my workout to be, without it freaking out. The only solution seems to be scheduling my week perfectly, because going off script in anyway just bricks the app. This app used to be awesome.

### 1/5 — Wonky

*2026-03-10, version 1.51.5*

It’s fair share of bugs and customer support is nowhere to be found when you need it

### 1/5 — Latest update is terrible

*2026-03-05, version 1.51.1*

They changed the UI with no warning, made the app worse, and didn’t put any information how to use the new UI online. Rollout was terrible. They pretty much told me if I didn’t like it, too bad. When my subscription is up, I’ll be looking elsewhere.

### 1/5 — Was a great app but now it’s not

*2026-03-02, version 1.50.45*

I love pretty much everything about the app - the diet itself works great and the app’s features really help with compliance and adherence. There are a few things they could improve (like letting you enter your weight in decimals instead of whole numbers during weigh ins) but they constantly improving the app and the support is first rate.

Update: the new update stinks. I don’t know who they have doing their ux design but it’s terrible. The food list update is terrible, the meal check in requires you to open the meal and go to a pulldown (why??), and it doesn’t appear to remind you when your next meal is. They took a good product and made it kind of suck which is a shame

### 1/5 — Horrible UI hard to use

*2026-02-19, version 1.50.45*

I got this as I am starting my cut. Used to use MyFitnessPal but figured I’d try something new. Bought this and immediately regretted it. The UI is terrible and there aren’t any added features compared to other CHEAPER apps. Worst part they don’t even give you a free mode or trial to give it a try before buying. Gotta pay up front and if you like it great but if you don’t they just take your money. Do not recommend! If you just want to track calories MyFitnessPal is 100% better

### 1/5 — The update sucks

*2026-02-16, version 1.50.45*

Before the updated version, I had successfully cuffed twice and the app was very straightforward and easy to follow. After the update, copying meals don’t adjust the portions onto the meal I am copying to adjust the macros. I didn’t realize this until I went back and saw I had gone over my macros. Adding custom foods when logging meals throws errors.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great tool to lose weight

*2026-07-22, version 1.56.2*

A bit complicated at first but becomes best in class once you figure it out. Lost over 20 lbs using this! It keeps you honest

### 5/5 — So easy

*2026-06-29, version 1.54.4*

Makes creating and following a proper diet incredibly easy. The app takes up less than five minutes of my day and saves way more than that by allowing me to plan ahead.I have lost over 40 pounds with most of that being pure fat. Can not recommend enough.

### 5/5 — Great results.

*2026-01-05, version 1.50.41*

So excited that RP came out with an amazing app to help keep track each day. I found it very user friendly and love that I can duplicate meals since I eat the same thing most days. The reminders “time to eat” is so helpful since I live such a busy lifestyle...it helps me space out my food appropriately!

### 5/5 — Best tool for making weight!

*2026-01-04, version 1.50.41*

I've been using this since before it became an app and was only a template. The app just makes it a thousand times easier. I've used the RP diet Coach & Planner for years of competitive sports including powerlifting, weightlifting, strongman and jiujitsu. It's helped me make weight for cuts as well as just maintaining a healthy bodyweight in between. Highly recommend this app for weight loss, muscle gain or maintenance

### 5/5 — Game changer

*2026-01-02, version 1.50.41*

The best tool I have used that tracks my macros AND meal timing! People don’t realize the importance of meal timing when trying to be in a deficit. 💪

### 5/5 — Best app ever

*2026-01-01, version 1.50.41*

Downloaded RP Diet Coach in 2020 expecting macro math.
Instead I got structure, sanity, and abs that showed up.

This thing tells me exactly what to eat, when to eat it- No food shaming. No “good vs bad” nonsense. Just “hey, eat this amount, trust the process, go live your life.”

I stopped overthinking. I stopped spiraling. My body changed and my brain calmed down.

If you’re tired of guessing and blaming yourself, this app is the problem-solver.
10/10 would let RP control my macros forever.

### 5/5 — Love the RP Diet app

*2025-12-22, version 1.50.39*

This is seriously like a Coach in your pocket! Love how it’s customized to MY goals and keeps me on track by adjusting macros when needed. Super easy to use & just love it. Definitely is an app I will use for the rest of my life.

### 5/5 — m

*2025-12-09, version 1.50.35*

The app is amazing!!!! already down 10 pounds in a week

### 5/5 — Mid series

*2025-10-17, version 1.50.23*

Con todos y Muy bonitos

### 5/5 — Huge Improvements over previous RP Diet app

*2025-10-12, version 1.50.19*

I have used RP diet app for most of my cuts over the past 8 years. This is by far the best version of app. The interface is more intuitive. Rebalancing macros is effortless and allows better diet flexibility. Now, I spend far less time messing with app and can just focus on hitting my diet goals.
