You only see small banner ad and a 5s ad to save progress. It’s chill and very refreshing compared to the average free smartphone games. Make sure to get all your characters lv 4(☀️but blue) in warrior, thief, and priest class for their 1.5x bonus that carries across class. Don’t bother filling the skill plate and only get the skills for the characters that will use them. I wish there was a better in-game explanation for how that worked, where the skill plates are (🌈☸️), and that you could UNDO a mis-assigned skill plate (say, before using it). All the same, it’s amazing to get this kind of game, made with love, free on mobile. Its a nice old school turn based rpg, I think their growth plate concept is neat and they have some interesting mechanics that are really engaging. Only criticism i have is the lack of equips/items and a lack of loot. You usually end up just looting the same stuff over and over. While i get kemco pumps out rpgs faster than you can say silver dragon, some more unique growth plates and end game items wouldnt do harm. ### 4/5 — It’s a fun old school turn-based RPG with a few modern improvements thrown in. *2025-11-05, version 1.1.5* The only complaint I have are the menus, whether it’s items or spending EP on class advancement, the menus are a multi-layered, poorly designed and engineered mess with terrible markings and indicators, particularly for a button oriented touch screen interface. Other than that, the game has been great. Seriously, it’s hard to tell what character I’m on or what their current class and level are. I have to go look at other screens then switch back to know if I’m adding the right class to the right character. My first game was the original Zelda. I remember naming Link before I knew how to spell. I own almost every Final Fantasy. I could list all the games I’ve played over the years, but I’d be here awhile. This game reminds me of those, but with cute and clever dialogue instead of The traditional “regal fantasy” you’d see in most games like this from the 80s and 90s. The characters, so far, are memorable, even antagonists. The job system makes me long for Final Fantasy 5, my favourite game. You fill out a grid, learn The abilities, repeat. It isn’t needlessly tedious or grindy. Everything is super straightforward. The plot, so far, is captivating. Theres so much happening at once, you WANT to pay attention. You WANT to talk to the npcs, just for the dialogue. Cons: stuff isnt expensive, but gathering gold is a bit annoying, especially once you start getting more party members. Getting an ad every time you save is annoying, but way more preferable to in-app purchases (which are nigh non-existent, thank god). I’m missing exploring the map and finding loot in urns and bushes or through hidden walls. Getting AP is reasonable, but you progress through the story so fast that it’s easy to get behind. The missions that pop up at the start of battle, for me, are impossible to complete at times. I give it closer to a 4.5, but I’m satisfied enough to go full 5 stars for the review. It brings out my nostalgia while being its own creation with unique mechanics and interesting characters. A must-try if you grew up on old pixel games. ### 3/5 — Eh *2025-09-29, version 1.1.5* This is fair as far as Final Fantasy knockoffs go, but the plate system doesn’t really make sense to me. I know there’s a tutorial, but I can never remember those things. I learn by playing the game, but this one isn’t very intuitive in some points. Then I bought a suit of armor, but then neither of my party members could use it. I gave up fairly early. Like others have said, the dialogue is a bit excessive. Where it fails is when it takes up 3 whole minutes of inescapable moment to request you write a review for them, giving you no reward and giving you no chance to make the characters shut up about it. THE WORST PLUG EVER MADE BY GAME DEVS. Secondly, once you get to the pirate town, the game bugs out and won’t let you continue the quest line even after you talk to everyone you can and should be required for the quest.
