There’s ads now but there are also more features so the trade off is worth it in my opinion and the ads aren’t too frequent. I would love to purchase the ad free version and support the developers but the fact there is no account or way to connect the app between different devices is a bit of a deal breaker + that there’s no website or pc version as I’m stuck doing all the planning on my phone lol. ### 4/5 — Good *2025-09-23, version 2.1.2* Works pretty solid for organization, though don’t expect to necessarily run All your planning out of it. ### 4/5 — Keeps loading at home page after update *2025-07-09, version 2.1.0* Works well before update. There are a couple things I would like to see improved to help with flow: 1. I would love it if the font size for the descriptions had like a small, medium, large or something like that so I could see some of the text a bit easier. 2. I copy and paste some stuff from ChatGPT and it asks me if pasting from the app is ok every time: I would love if there was an “always allow” option so I don’t have to click it every time. I hope I wasn’t being too crazy nit-picky, but I think changes such as these could really help the flow and functionality of this app. Other than those minor things, I love the general idea and especially the wide options for icons! ### 4/5 — Very Useful for Worldbuilding *2023-09-05, version 1.4.0* This app is awesome for organizing your entries, linking information and having tags for your world building. The only thing I would ask for is the ability to add images or thumbnails to entries. ### 5/5 — Not limited to D&D *2023-06-19, version 1.3.4* I was looking for an app to help with being a game master for the old West End Games Star Wars D6 RPG, which came out years before there was an internet, when everything we did was on paper notebooks. Everything I could find out there was heavily leaning towards D&D or Pathfinder. This app is awesome! All the ways things can link, and the myriad ways you can organize assets like NPCs and maps and towns and continents and worlds and star systems, it’s just very open to working with you and not limiting how you do things. It lets me organize all my assets in a way that makes sense to me, and then I can write up an episode overview that has the links to all the assets I might use so that with a touch of a button, I have the right description for the book shop my characters are entering or the NPC they need to get information from. The developer is also very responsive. Highly recommended! ### 4/5 — Perfect Organiser *2023-05-11* This app is brilliant at organising notes for anything you need, with the great addition of being able to add links between notes for easy access. The only reason I wouldn’t rate this app 5 stars is that it lacks a search bar that can be accessed anywhere, which would honestly make this app perfect for me. The map could also work better if you were able to organise them into groups as well, and allowing icon links in then map lead to other maps. Apart from these small issues, the app is perfect and easy to use ### 5/5 — I LOVE this app *2023-01-14, version 1.3.4* RPG Notebook helps me map out plot points, dungeons, towns and more. I love that it’s free and easy to use. I recommend it for anyone running a Role Playing Game. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Info farming *2025-01-11, version 2.0.3* There's no other reason you should have to sign up and pay for what's basically a notepad app. China has enough of your information already, you don't have to make it easier for them. Ya know what's better than paying for a subscription to a notebook app? Buying an ACTUAL NOTEBOOK. For like, $1. ### 1/5 — Won’t load backup *2024-09-13, version 1.4.6* I lost my phone about a week ago and got a new one. Redownloaded the app and went to restore a backup I had and I get the spinning wheel that says loading data and nothing happens. It just sits there like that for ages and never actually loads. ### 1/5 — Recent Updates Cause Total Crash *2024-03-26* With the recent updates, the app no longer opens completely before crashing out. **Developer response:** Hey, an update (1.4.5) fixing this issue is out now. ### 1/5 — Force Closes *2023-09-16* The app would be really good but for the fact that it refuses to stay open. In the middle of typing campaign notes, it just closes itself out. When you go back in, the notes are gone. **Developer response:** Hey, thanks for letting us know about the issue. It didn’t take me longer than 4 minutes of using this app to find out. Broken ads that literally won’t even let you close them without opening their links. No thank you. ### 3/5 — Confusing *2025-10-06, version 2.1.2* When I first saw this I thought it could be really useful for making stuff and keeping it in somewhere other than my head. But once I got it I realized it was quite confusing, I would appreciate if there was a guide so I can better navigate it. My complaint is that the type of ads that are shown in the free version are unacceptable. I’ve been shown gambling and p*rn cam site ads. I know money needs to be made but I and people younger than me should not be unwillingly exposed to such content. ### 3/5 — Pretty close to what I’m looking for *2023-10-20, version 1.4.0* I can definitely use this to organize my world, but I would like if maps can also be linked in entries ### 3/5 — Simple but could be great *2023-05-09, version 1.3.4* The linking of maps is a great start but it always starts zoomed in on the upper left corner. If linking could be made better if when you clicked a link it would zoom into that exact spot on the linked map. Adding more markers for things such as shops and other points of interest would be great along with the option add a scene that isn’t a map. You could also list npcs for those POI’s. Add a NPC section and make it so you can attach them to certain maps. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Extremely useful, but… *2026-01-22, version 2.1.3* It could use some extra functionality in the journal for play-by-post games, like turning off name links for a note—I’d love to be able to keep whole sessions and refer back to them, without linking back to a character everywhere their name is mentioned. The ability to italicize text (+ other text editor functions?) would also be nice. (My more minor request is that we be able to create trackers that reset to zero rather than full, for things like accumulation of wounds. But it’s pretty easy to just decrease them manually.) Still, it’s a very useful app, and an excellent place to save characters in a system-neutral way. Most of these apps just do D&D, and the ones that don’t usually only do a specific other system. This one is very customizable, and I bought the full version immediately after seeing what it could do. ### 5/5 — Amazingly Useful *2025-12-08, version 2.1.3* I got this to originally keep track of my campaign for solo RPG and it very quickly became my Wiki Page for everything creative. I even wrote a quarter of a novel in it just because of the ease of tags, hyperlinks and character sheets. I have since moved the draft out of it (just for formatting reasons, nothing wrong with the app.) but it is still working amazing to keep all my character and world info in. Great work on the app and I would recommend to anyone trying to keep track of multiple characters, backstories and locations. ### 5/5 — Wow, amazing *2025-10-25, version 2.1.2* Now, I’m not one to rate apps, but this app could use the input from users given its size. This app is great, I started using it like an hour ago and it actually is so great for what I’m working on with my story, this is awesome dude! ### 5/5 — Great simple Campaign app *2025-01-16, version 2.0.3* So far I really like this app, simple to use, and I’m able to do a brief layout of the campaign, creating my own “folders” for different things. Something I would like to see is some world building tools, something to kind of combine the campaigns together. I have a few different campaigns that I’ve added, but having something to build on my lore of my world it self would be nice. I have homebrew rules that are not campaign specific, right now I just have all my rules set as its own campaign section. Also the ability for my campaigns to almost be linked to each other, so if I want to reference a NPC I could search in one campaign and have it take me to that NPC from the other campaign. ### 5/5 — Perfect *2024-11-22, version 2.0.3* Love how organized it keeps my campaigns!! Perfect for any system and campaign type. Wish maps opened in the center instead of the top right and I also wish it had a dedicated section for NPCs. And I use the sci-fi one for our sci-fi campaign, I was pleasantly surprised to see that was included. It’s so customizable and not expensive and it’s awesome! One suggestion: let us draw on the maps that we upload!
