### 5/5 — Great app!

*2020-09-21*

I live this sound system, combined with the Hue lights overhead and the hue strip on the table our group is fully immersed in the story line of any dnd campaign we are in!
The customer service is quick to respond to any technical issues I have thrown at them as well.

### 5/5 — OMG! Magnifico!

*2020-09-20*

This the most well-made ambient sound app of its kind!
Sounds are so beautiful! It can really take you to the fantasy world of RPGs!
And the UI is elegant and easy to navigate and yet very colorful with beautiful RPG themed illustration.

This is so amazing. I’m glad I found this app!
I hope they will continue to develop this app and add more contents. This is amazing.

### 5/5 — Must have for any RPG

*2020-09-06, version 2.9*

This app is awesome. If you are playing Pathfinder, DnD, or literally any other role-playing game, this app adds all of the ambience that you need to help players realize and visualize the world they’re in. You can pay one dollar for a set of sounds, or $10 for all of them, which is what I did. Literally worth every penny.

### 5/5 — This is a great addition to a DM’s toolbox

*2020-08-22*

Ad on Reddit got my attention. Glad it did, cause this is a useful app to add a bit more immersion to a tabletop game.

I’m still playing around with the functionality and figuring out what it can do, but what I’ve messed with so far will definitely be implemented in my games.

The only problem I see at this point is the limited musical selection, but that isn’t much of a problem given that the soundboard is the main draw. Being able to create sound effects when appropriate is a thing that my players are going to get a kick out of.

Very happy with this purchase and looking forward to using it in-game!

### 5/5 — WoW I really love it!!!

*2020-07-28*

It did not crash at all like a person Said in an other previous review. It is usefull to play D and D with or Just Listen to It. That is a good idea. The sound is so real that when a dog is barking in the background that my dog starts to bark too! Lool

### 5/5 — amazing! get this app

*2020-07-21*

first thing about this app i noticed is how very user friendly it is. the amount of customization is amazing with most sounds having frequency and volume sliders, it really lets you make it sound just the way you want. the 3 free starting sets give you a ton of options that will add life to your RPG and the in app purchases i found very reasonable(1$ per set) to take things even further.

had a slight issue with my first use of the app, but after sending feedback i got a quick and helpful response from the developer who addressed the issue and replied in under 24 hours. i was blown away by the friendly customer service and i couldnt recommend this app more. try it for free you wont regret it! (and if youre as happy as i am pick up some extra sets and support a great dev!)

**Developer response:** Hi. Thanks for pointing this out. Please reach out to us through the feedback option in the app. We are working on fixing this but have a nice present for you in the meantime.

### 5/5 — Fantastic!

*2020-07-13*

I had the thunder app made by the same people so I thought I’d give this app a shot to see how it would work out for game nights with the crew and was blown away immediately. The amount of thought put into this and how easy it is to use makes it a worthwhile purchase.

**Developer response:** 😊Wow. Thanks for the wonderful review. It’s really nice to see our effort is well used for game nights.

### 5/5 — This app changed my life

*2020-05-31*

It honestly taught me a lot about how to use my smart light & sounds combined.

### 5/5 — Absolute Gem!

*2020-05-22*

The only thing that saddens me is how long it took me to find this app! I found it as a recommended app within another hue app. I couldn’t find it through searching on the App Store. Which is a shame! Because you really are a hidden gem!! On another note, the app itself, just absolutely amazing! Love the trigger sounds and the control I have over each aspect of sound on the board (sound layering). The amount of control is phenomenal!!! I can turn off the music and keep the ambience or I can change the volume of the cave drips and trigger some bats as I narrate. Didn’t even hesitate to buy the full sound set. Worth every penny! Please please keep up the amazing work!!!

**Developer response:** This review made us blush. 😊

### 5/5 — Wow

*2020-05-10*

Look no further ... ambiance, sound, music ... a far cry from the old days of tape recorders, records and flashlights ...

### 4/5 — Nice but too expensive

*2020-04-15*

I give it 4 stars because it's a really good app and has good sounds. Also the smart light function is really cool. Unfortunately I don't have smart lights so I cannot use it, but I bet it's epic.

However, I have some feedback:

- For an iPad app with it's huge screen, there is still a lot of scrolling. I think the design could be improved with everything-fits-on-screen in mind.

- The songs in the soundscapes are mostly dark, spooky, pensive or calm / slightly happy. Which is cool, it just lacks a little of really joyfull, epic and neutral-happy songs. It would be also good to have more songs than one in the soundscapes because if the one song doesn't fit there is no alternative.

- 18€ is too expensive. I understand you put hard work into it and I see that it's worth money, but not 18€. 2€ would be okay. 5€ if it is really good. 10€ if it is exceptionally amazing. Procreate can charge 10€ but not this app, I'm sorry. I know everyone wants everything for free on the app store and it's hard to keep up to the expectations so maybe you can find a way inbetween to go.

We think our pricing is competitive. Note that it’s not a subscription at the moment, but a one time price which unlocks every world currently available and upcoming worlds. (A lot are to be released).

Thanks again!

### 5/5 — So much better than Syrinscape for iPhone and iPad DMs

*2020-03-13, version 2.3*

This app is incredible and works so much more smoothly than any of the other options. I use iOS shortcuts to trigger all of my music ambient sounds, so the shortcut integration and ability to mix with Spotify are incredible. The sounds are great and customizable. Developer is incredibly responsive and is actively working on this app. I reported a couple of bugs which will be fixed in the next release. It just gets better and better!

### 5/5 — Can’t wait to experience the future scenes!

*2020-02-23*

The music clips are high quality and the scenes are very customizable. Very easy to use and intuitive. My only request is to add more single shot sounds and have a tab where I can access all the sounds in one place rather than restricting specific single sounds to their scene.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Buggy

*2026-05-13*

Paid the $15 to unlock all sounds because I liked them, but little did I know the app is constantly crashing as well as having to re-download all of the packs individually nearly every time I open the app.
I liked the simplistic nature of the app and ease of use, but the constant crashing and re-downloading assets forced me to delete and go back to PocketBard.

### 1/5 — Can’t even try

*2019-12-29*

This app crashes after loading scenes,

please fix!

**Developer response:** Please delete and reinstall. Send an email to appsupport@vandenbrakel.nl we’ll work it out.

### 1/5 — Crashes when opens

*2019-08-19*

Can’t even get the app to open, let alone work.

**Developer response:** Hi,

This should be fixed. Let us know if you have any problems.

### 1/5 — Crashes with IKEA

*2019-07-25*

App crashes as soon as the IKEA button is pushed, so can’t use it with my Tradfri setup

**Developer response:** Hi. This issue has been fixed. Thanks for the feedback. Hope you enjoy the app.

### 3/5 — Good but more needed

*2022-11-12*

I really like the app. Beautifully made!!!
Paying 25$ is a high price for only 37 world sounds in my opinion. Not enough combat music. I’d really like to see at least 100 options of music. It’s a 3 star for now mainly because of the price with not a lot of content.

### 4/5 — Awesome stuff

*2026-06-14*

I got the complete set but mostly use about five during game play, the others I just have fun tinkering with. I have it set up to Hue lights and that’s pretty cool too. I recently have been having a glitch where the program just shuts down and closes if I use “Deadly Dungeon” or “Horrifying Tomb” (I think that’s what they’re called) and those were the most common ones I use. How can we fix this bug?

### 4/5 — Good controls and features but not many free options

*2025-11-30*

The ambience is really good and the controls are fantastic, and the light control options are very cool. But there are only 3 free options and everything else is paid dlc, and well other apps do that too they normally have a few more free options to play around with, that said this one is has a lot of interesting stuff and features. (*edit* I may buy the all worlds dlc, because compared to the other apps which are monthly subscription based and way more expensive this is actually immersive and properly sets the tone while sounding good)

### 4/5 — Good app an I’ve only used the free version

*2023-01-20*

The free version so far has been a great help I love the way you can switch off music at a flick of a switch especially when the moment calls for no music, its also nice because it doesn’t just stop abruptly it fades out which is nice and not jarring

So far this has caused me to want to spend the $16 on the full version and see how my games can turn into an add filled adventure with YouTube to a fully immersive adventure with RPG soundscapes

Thank you for making this app cheap and really easy to use would recommend to any game master out there who is looking for music and ambience
It’s almost criminal how this app doesn’t have any full reviews or more traffic.
Well done I can’t wait to see what this developer has to offer in the future

### 4/5 — Almost perfect!

*2022-08-13*

This app is fantastic in terms of how many boxes it checks! Crossfades between scenes, configurable presets within scenes, audio mixing with other app (this is a big one for me!).

The only thing missing is the ability to import our own sounds. I don’t tend to run games in a traditional fantasy setting and so most of the preset scenes aren’t useable for me. I have a big collection of SFX I’d love to be able to import instead

### 4/5 — Good

*2022-06-08*

That App is really good, Price maybe a bit to high but Overall good. Two Things that im really missing..
Rain Sounds in Most of the presets.
AND!! Please make it possible to save our custom soundsets in the Main menu. So we can change easy from tavern Inn to our custom market sound? That would be nice.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Perfect! Though it needs more content…

*2025-10-17*

I do really appreciate how the app can be used while simultaneously playing music from another app. Syncing Spotify and this makes a perfect atmosphere. However, I think there should be more biomes. Maybe jungles, victorian cities, libraries, or even sci-fi/cyberpunk cities and spaceships.

### 5/5 — Top !

*2024-12-29*

Wirklich eine mega App! Ich nutze sie für meine Pen and Paper, als Hintergrundmusik, Ambiente und Special Effekte. Natürlich erfordert das etwas Übung. Aber es funktioniert wirklich super !

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2024-02-05*

Love the variety, love the fact it stays playing when you switch to another app, love the one off random sounds you can customise frequency on. Just need a running water add-on for the cave setting.
I do need to switch to another app for combat music, unless I haven’t noticed that somewhere in this one, otherwise would be perfect for my entire game.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2023-08-22*

Love using this in my sessions. I’d love to see support for more smart bulb brands added (GE CYNC specifically).

### 5/5 — Love this app

*2023-04-05*

I got this app awhile ago and it was my favorite out of all the apps for hue lights. I don’t play RPGs but loved the fantasy scenes. This sure wants to make me learn how to play though. I play other types of board games. Sadly I lost this app when my phone died and I guess I didn’t have it backed up. I searched for this app to get again but I must say this is a very hard app to find. By accident years latter when buying another hue light app this one finally popped back up. It is way better than I remember including even more fantasy scenes.

### 5/5 — Stellar

*2023-03-10*

This app is a huge boon to any gaming setup. When I first opened it the amount of options felt a little overwhelming compared to other apps of a similar kind; however after a few minutes of noodling it clarifies itself and is actually quite intuitive.

The biggest recommendation I can give this app is such: Although other comparable apps within the sector have perhaps more intricately designed musical compositions—they still operate on a loop—which becomes grating. If you’re reading this review you know what I mean. That wolf howl loops for the 10 millionth time. That one flurry of notes you loved the first 30 times becomes incredibly irritating. By adding the complexity of a simple sound board (something I’m used to seeing but absolutely understand why at first glance it’s a lot), allows the players or DM to shush that silly sound effect. Or apply a significantly smaller occurrence.

For example: I’m playing a game called Sleeping Gods, sailing the high seas. Though just clicking one the options ‘Sailing Overseas’ is great-it inevitably falls victim to the loop conundrum. This app beautifully skirts it’s by allowing me to drop out the music, or add thunder or whatever. You can really strip it down to bare essentials-these small effects allow the larger, orchestral, sound effect ridden moments to really shine! Earn it.

I hope they continue to expand their offerings in app. I understand their want to have some type of ease of use but their should be a master board option that allows you to access every sound effect across all genres.

PS I was inspired to write this review because the storybook in Sleeping Gods told me I entered a damp forest and I went to the app to find a comparable genre and found one titled Damp Forest.

### 5/5 — Why isn’t every DM using this???

*2022-12-26*

Syrinscape seems to be the big supporter dnd sound board. It’s not good, with a horrible interface.
I’ve used so many. Same story. Janky music, bad interfaces, and in the end just went back to a Spotify playlist. Not with this app.

This sound board is clean, works well, you can overlap your Spotify music on top. I just hooked it up to my hue lights and it’s crazy this thing is so cheap. It auto changed the colored lights. Things light lightening light up the room.

We even used it for our Christmas doing Spotify music over the tavern background. It was great ambiance.

Crazy that this thing doesn’t have 10k reviews.

### 5/5 — Just what I was looking for

*2022-02-11*

I can set an audio and visual scene with just this app, tap to toss in immediate sound effects, set the mood, increase tension and energy. App was a little buggy when I first got it but subsequent updates have smoothed it out and improved it greatly. I run it now during every gaming session.

Update: This app just keeps getting better as they release more scenes. I couldn’t more highly recommend.

### 5/5 — Very much worth it

*2022-01-27*

I’m amazed at low the number of reviews for this there are. As stated by other folks, this is high quality and VERY user friendly, the latter I really appreciate it. The most valuable $15 I’ve spent on a DM resource.

### 5/5 — Nice All in one soundscape edible in all ways

*2020-11-25*

I like this Program. I can edit the soundscape completely.
Every part in the soundscape like thunder , background music ,voices and many more.

It is cheaper you buy all soundscapes together for only 20 bugs

You don’t believe what is possible with this nice program.

Unbelievable good program.

I use it for my funny german story's
