### 5/5 — This is how the port of noiz2sa should have been

*2010-07-30, version 0*

Flawless port, runs at full speed. Excellent freebie.

### 4/5 — Very good

*2010-07-27, version 0*

Although the game has flaws, it is incredibly addicting. Great replay value for free. Reminds me of Chaos Field but with 4 game modes. New update allows for iPod music to play in background if you turn off music and sounds. Want to give 5 stars but the controls are not perfect. Higher levels very challenging.

### 5/5 — Great job on the updates!

*2010-07-27, version 0*

The latest version includes an optional tweak to the controls that keeps your ship firing for a second after your finger pulls off the screen. This is awesome, because now you can reposition your finger without disrupting your shot! What a clever idea!

### 5/5 — Cool game, needs improvement

*2010-07-22, version 0*

I don't mind learning how to play without getting instructions, I don't mind the menu design being a little on the "challenging" side, but seriously the online board doesn't work at all. Please fix that. And while you are at it, please make the game record my game session, I can't keep track of what levels I've already beat.

Cheers and congrats on the fantastic port.

### 4/5 — Needs improvement.

*2010-07-20, version 0*

Espgaluda eats this game for breakfast.

First, this is bullet heaven. The music is crazy good, control is perfect, and it runs fantastically.

Since "online" is in the title, I expect Openfeint or some other established service for proper leaderboards that can be followed amongst friends. They worked okay (Orochi; #1 Psy Mode), but bugs sent me back to the menu for no reason, which was infuriating.

I also think the interface is about the worst thing ever. I never saw instructions after the first load. Most of the guidance is in the app store info. The grid of nonsense menu is a puzzle in and of itself. I assume it is Japanese-designed.

Were these glaring issues addressed and ads removed, I would pay for this app in a heartbeat, as the game that lurks beneath is amazing.

### 4/5 — Amazing

*2010-07-19, version 0*

Best bullet hell / danmaku game on the phone. I paid 8 dollars for espgaluda and this beats it, for free. 4 stars as the score boards don't work for myself or brother.

### 5/5 — I hope more people love this game

*2010-07-19, version 0*

This is my first rate and review on all the games I purchased, approx. 50+. All I want to say here is that it's a great shooting game: simple but really challenging, the music is awesome, there are 40 levels to complete in the arcade, so much replay value and it's for free. It's a must-have for shooting game lover.

### 5/5 — Yaa...pretty sick game

*2010-07-18, version 0*

Duh a freaking good game... cept they gotta work on the "online" part of the game... Highscores fail to show up too often. Still awesome game tho!!

### 4/5 — Awesome awesome awesome

*2010-07-17, version 0*

Reminds me of Rez in 2D. Controls easily, simplistic look but neat in design. Awesome beats with tracks that change every stage ( which consist of 5 levels). Give it a chance especially if you're a shooter fan. Getting it for free is a serious bargain.

Only issue is that the app won't log off when you hit the home button which drains battery. Needs to be seriously looks into.

### 5/5 — What an Amazing app!!!!

*2010-07-13, version 0*

Honestly, I don't understand why this app isn't one of the top rated apps on the app store! I hope the dev ports more of kenta cho's fine games onto the iDevices. Keep up the amazing work :)

### 5/5 — Fantastic! Parsec 47 next, please!

*2010-07-12, version 0*

Simply a stellar port of rRootage. Used to play this all the time on my notebook and older Mac, as well as a certain other Kenta Cho title; p47, another top-down shooter with the same graphical style, but way different gameplay.

Think you could craft up a similarly well-done version of p47 before summer ends? I'd absolutely love to see it. If rR Online is any indication, it'll be a blast.

Five stars, keep up the good work.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Trash

*2011-09-12, version 1.2.3*

Cheap crap

### 1/5 — DO NOT UPDATE

*2010-08-30, version 0*

They totally screwed everyone over with the update. Ads everywhere now. Shady. Very shady.

### 1/5 — Controls need work

*2010-07-19, version 0*

Too easy to pause the game when shooting. Deleted after 3 min

### 2/5 — Old port had better controls.

*2010-08-02, version 0*

Movement was pretty stuttery, and using the secondary weapon often didn't work. Bullet visibility was also rather poor. On the other hand, framerate was generally rather high.

### 3/5 — Awesome

*2010-10-14, version 0*

Awesome port of an awesome game, proved that shmups work on the iPhone with it's control scheme and most likely served as a model for espgaluda and dodonpachi iPhone and probably inspired cave to port them

### 3/5 — Not bad at all!

*2010-08-21, version 0*

Good port, just add openfeint with achievements and this game is pretty much perfect! :)

### 3/5 — Great port

*2010-07-11, version 0*

I played lazrhogs port for a long time but was dismayed that it never had the sound or music. This version adds the original music and sound, as well as some framerate and graphic enhancements.

I would give this 5 stars but the controls could be more consistent. In ika mode, sometimes I can switch modes with a quick tap, sometimes it takes a double tap or a firm press to switch. In the later levels this can mean life or
death.

### 3/5 — A perfect port, but...

*2010-07-09, version 0*

This is an amazing port of the game; it runs like butter on my 2nd gen touch.

There are problems that need to be adjusted immediately:

- Online scores don't work, and there is no way to register your screen name

- Game doesn't save your progress. When you beat a level the grey square changes color to indicate you cleared the level, but when you exit the app and return everything is grey again

This is the best port of rRootage, if these two problems are fixed, I'll be a very very happy man!

### 4/5 — Good

*2010-10-10, version 0*

Many bullets. but good free game.

### 4/5 — Awesome. And free.

*2010-08-16, version 0*

Amazing. I want more fdom the developer. Free! Get it!!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Excellent classic Japanese space shooter gameplay

*2016-04-12, version 1.4.3*

Multiple modes keep things interesting
Graphics are simple but effective, interesting vector shapes

### 5/5 — Great port

*2016-03-02, version 1.4.3*

It's a 100% free port of an awesome game. This is the real deal here.

The ads are restricted to a bar at the top of the screen in menus ONLY: you will NEVER see ads while playing! Though you can still disable those for a little cash, if you care.

Only possible gripes are the finickiness of the two-finger controls, but the mobile medium is often difficult for these types of games as fingers cover the screen, so I can't really complain. Especially as you can have the ship move relative to your finger rather than following it, which is a LOT more useful than it sounds.

### 5/5 — Cool 7 refreshing

*2016-02-26, version 1.4.2*

Go ahead, add it to your library

### 5/5 — Essential bullet hell

*2014-02-25, version 1.2.3*

This game has a huge range of difficulty, from casual to near impossible, all immediately playable. Great if you're a bullet hell veteran, but also a great entry point for people who are intimidated by the genre.

The iOS port does have a few issues. The biggest is that lifting your "joystick" finger while your "ability" finger is down will cause the ship to slide in one direction, often resulting in death. It also lacks an area to place your thumbs, and it is possible to accidentally exit.

Minor issues aside, it's still a great port of an incredible game. Hours of gameplay.

### 5/5 — Great game

*2012-09-29, version 1.2.3*

I'm having a lot of fun playing it. The vector graphics look gives the game the retro feel of the original.

### 5/5 — Tohou

*2011-07-01, version 1.2.3*

Y does it remind it of tohou

### 5/5 — Good shooter but gets ridiculously hard

*2011-04-09, version 1.2.1*

I get frustrated too easily for this, but shooter fans should love it.

### 5/5 — Best shoot'em up in the AppStore

*2010-11-15, version 0*

I love this game it's fun and has a lot if levels, but I wish I could listen to my music while playing it 

### 5/5 — Dope

*2010-08-20, version 0*

Great game! Never ending bosses! Just awesome! definitely a download!!

### 5/5 — Thank you devs!

*2010-08-11, version 0*

Finally works on iPod touch 3G 32GB!!!
