It would also make a lot more sense if they used an actual aeronautical map, rather than the useless ambiguous map with virtually no usable markings on it. I really wish they would update the app to make it usable. The only other way to use the nav function is the enter latitude and longitude coordinates manually, as the radio itself will not allow you to enter waypoints by their identifier. ### 1/5 — It doesn’t work *2020-04-16* Não conecta o BT e quando conecta da erro no App. ### 1/5 — Only imports sky vector gpx *2019-07-01, version 1.01* This serious limitations means this app and the Icom ic-a25ne are of very limited use for navigation - the app needs to be able to import other gpx formats. But it doesn’t connect from an iPhone X to the multi-dollar IC-A25N, so don’t worry about it! Why not actually spend some tine and effort developing a workable app? Why not give us the ability to program the radio via our iOS device? So many missed opportunities here. Seriously, you make top of the line radios and you cant even make an app that connects to it? No support, no tutorial, nothing. I am able to connect my phone to the radio, but when i try to do anything it immediately disconnects the app ( though its still connected with the phone?!) I have my radio as a backup to my panel mount radios but i still expect the features to work for the $549 i paid. ### 1/5 — “May not work with all iPads or iPhones” *2018-05-21, version 1.01* Really? An App on the Apple site that advertises that it doesn’t work? C’mon Apple, I thought you screened developer’s apps before posting them. And...the app does NOT work with either of my iThings. ### 1/5 — Can’t connect at all with my iPhone or IPad?? *2018-05-18, version 1.01* This app does not connect at all with the unit, making the GPS function on the A25N unusable. Tried using both my IPad and IPhone. Can you please fix the connection issue?? ### 1/5 — Needs update *2017-11-23, version 1.01* Need the ability to directly select common VFR/IFR chart navigational aid (VOTACs, VOR, RNAV waypoints). This would make the user interface much easier. Perhaps at a minimum a user selected chart based on geographical location. The concept of the application is great and the ability to upload a route to the radio is a nice feature. There is much to be added before I wound consider anything close to five stars. Developers, please consider these features. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Radio good, App terrible. *2024-10-03, version 1.1.0* The radio pairs with my phone via Bluetooth easy enough, but when I try to transfer waypoints etc. from phone to the radio, it says Bluetooth not paired. When clearly it is! ### 1/5 — Needs desperate update app not functional *2024-08-23, version 1.1.0* This app is a good concept but it is crashing since there have been no updates for years to the software. Icom company please please update your app so that the software is compatible with the radios!!! ### 1/5 — Useless *2024-07-03, version 1.1.0* Seriously it is garbage. ### 1/5 — Useless *2024-01-30, version 1.1.0* App is basically useless, once I finally paired the radio, was difficult to edit functions let alone program new ones. Makes the GPS portion of the radio almost useless. Not worth spending the money on the navigation version of the radio unless you only want it for VORs (even then, the VOR function on the radio is clumsy)… ### 1/5 — Will not connect to the device. *2023-04-06* The app says that the a25n is not connected. The radio WILL connect to the phone and the phone says it is connected but the app does not recognize this. Result: the app is of no use. ### 1/5 — App stinks doesn’t even work with radio *2023-02-26, version 1.01* The app doesn’t even coordinate with aeronautical charts. On top of that it doesn’t even function with the radio, please fix this!!!! ### 1/5 — No Conecta con el Talkie *2023-01-15* El IPad y el IPhone conecta perfectamente con el Icom Ic A25NE, pero este software no conecta con el Talkie. ### 1/5 — Awesome Radio- terrible app. *2022-12-12, version 1.01* You have to use this app to program GPS Waypoints to the A25N for any GPS Navigation. While that portion of this app does technically work, you’re also supposed to be able to program frequencies and other information (in fact-the data pops up in the app when you create a waypoint, but it does not allow you to edit any of the fields). You also cannot see any list of the waypoints you created. You have to use their app. ### 1/5 — Not working! *2021-05-12, version 1.01* Needs update to latest iOS version ### 1/5 — Crap - doesn’t connect *2021-01-24* Does not connect. Useless. ## Most praised reviews (4 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Won’t connect to IC-A25N *2021-04-02, version 1.01* Tried iPhone 12 Pro Max and also an iPad Pro. ### 3/5 — Of limited functionally *2021-07-01, version 1.01* Works with my iPhone and A25NE radio, however it is missing fundamental functionality like being able to program frequencies and their lat Lon, if it was developed in to a companion app it would be of use. Shame they don’t allow remote programming as it’s a pain doing it in the radio! Even better would be if they could remotely display and operate the VOR from the app… ### 3/5 — Feature Request *2018-04-23, version 1.01* Some useful suggestions: -ability to create and edit a station list that can be downloaded to the transceiver ( men location nr - station name- frequency) because it’s tedious work to do this on the icon -even better to specify a region and its possible to download the station list and transfer it to the icon - perfect solution: create a BT-communication channel to Skydemon navigation software. During flight Skydemon offers a tab with all important stations for the current position , tapping a station name in Skydemon will automatically select the frequency on the icon ### 2/5 — $500 radio the app should have more features *2019-04-21, version 1.01* Add in the ability to add to memory from the app and I’d give it 4 stars. Haven’t tested flp, VORs, or waypoints yet. And please add the ability to reorder the groups. It makes things really convenient for those who travel.
