### 3/5 — Nice basic app

*2026-06-13*

This app has worked well in the past with my ID-52 but lately it has started crashing when I use the map function to see a station location. Annoying

### 1/5 — Load of trash

*2024-01-26, version 1.21*

Does not download a full list of repeaters no analog 2 or 70 , digital only absolute rubbish data is out of date does not support the id-52 waste of time

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2024-01-06*

I was really looking forward to this having just got the ID-52a and I thought, for sure being that Icom has such a large presence here in the US for amateur radio that they would surely have an iOS app that would work well with their flagship HT being that the vast majority of people in the US use iPhones. Unfortunately, the app is completely unusable because the very first step of connecting through Bluetooth doesn’t work. It’s able to find the radio but it’s not able to connect the radio and phone. I have, of course, tried every possible solution and nothing works. A real disappointment, considering the manufacturers name.

### 1/5 — Bluetooth connectivity

*2023-02-28*

I have downloaded the app and tried to pair my iPhone 12 to my Icom ID-52. The phone will find the radio but when you tap connect the radio will not pair with the phone. I’ve tried resetting my phone and radio both. This review will be updated after the problem is corrected!!

### 1/5 — Poor repeater list

*2023-01-08, version 1.21*

The repeater list should be more extensive and include FM repeaters.

### 1/5 — ID-5100

*2022-11-29, version 1.21*

Please add support for the ID-5100 with the BT module!

### 1/5 — App won’t connect

*2022-11-13, version 1.21*

App sees the ID52 but won’t connect, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iOS 16.1. Bluetooth enabled, using app to discover and connect, only it won’t connect, ever. Need update please!

### 1/5 — Zip zero nada

*2022-09-07, version 1.21*

I have a new ID-52A, updated Apple phone and tablet, everything running the most current software.

Doesn’t work. Can’t get it to connect on either device.

Time to give up… tooooooo bad. The concept is fantastic. The execution, not so much.

Time to delete another App that doesn’t do what it is supposed to do.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2022-07-02, version 1.21*

This software doesn’t work. I followed their directions on transceiver settings and no go. Complete garbage.

### 1/5 — Cannot connect app to iphone 13pro

*2022-06-14*

Literally bought this id52 strongly based on simplistic use of this app to load repeaters etc. it will not connect via app/bluetooth. Latest firmare, latest ios 15 updated. Called icom support and they try to make it sound like its an unheard of issue. What a joke

### 1/5 — Don’t bother

*2022-04-30, version 1.21*

Id-52a is not paring. Incomparable. Does the app work with any radio?

### 1/5 — No reason for lack of support

*2022-04-01*

It is important that consumers see the lack of customer service and support for reviews. The issue in company’s like icom is it is the leadership who is at fault not the rep or worker. Remember in business it is always top down!! Leadership is always at fault and need removal as supervisor or CEO. Great thing is we can always put our money in your competitors revenue and in time you will need to wake up. Terrible leadership and it shows by these reviews!

### 1/5 — Can’t get the app to connect

*2022-03-24*

I paid extra for the Bluetooth card for my ID-4100A and was looking forward to being able to use this app. In spite of triple checking the transceiver settings described in the “instructions”, and in spite of the fact that the app instantly sees the device, whenever I try to actually connect it tries for a few seconds then fails. The instructions go on at length saying that the app may not work on certain phones and certain operating system versions or with other apps installed. Therefore I tried it on two different phones and an iPad and the same thing happens. I have never seen any Bluetooth application fail to work and blame the platform like this. I contacted support and so far have not had a response. It seems clear that the app just needs some attention by the developer to actually work as promised, no excuses.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App crashes on map screen

*2026-04-04*

This app works for everything except when on the map screen. The entire application will crash when looking at the map section. Icom needs to fix this.

### 1/5 — Fails with ID-52A Plus on iPhone 16 and iPad Pro

*2025-06-05, version 1.30*

Update, 2025-06-05. Got further along but still not staying connected to the app. I was mistakingly trying to pair using the iPhone’s Settings: Bluetooth: Pair. However; just using the ID-52A Plus’s Bluetooth pairing function and then pair in the RS-MS1Ii app. It says paired but then a notification on the iPhone says not connected. Tried numerous iterations of settings from YouTubers but no luck. This app, as advertised by Icom for the ID-52A Plus, does not work for my iPhone 16 Pro and iPad Pro. This is the major reason I upgraded from ID-51A. Bluetooth is a very mature and well understood technology and so there is no excuse for Icom to not fix this ongoing problem.

### 1/5 — Fails with ID-52A Plus on iPhone 16 and iPad Pro

*2025-05-31*

Error message on iPhone and iPad: “Connection Unsuccesful “ICOM BT(ID-52)” is not supported” Forget Device?” Bluetooth, as advertised by Icom for the ID-52A Plus does not work for my iPhone 16 Pro and iPad Pro. This is the major reason I upgraded from ID-51A. Bluetooth is a very mature and well understood technology and so there is no excuse for this failure to fix their error(s).

### 1/5 — Not for ID-50

*2025-05-26, version 1.30*

It would not have been difficult to make this app function with a USB connection to an iPhone, but it is Bluetooth only, so it’s not compatible with the ID-50

### 1/5 — iOS 18 does not work

*2025-02-23, version 1.30*

ID-52 and does not stay connected to iPhone 15 Pro on iOS 18

### 1/5 — Useless

*2024-11-17*

I bought the icon ID 52 plus completely unusable to program and now I’m out like 800 bucks wish I would’ve went with another brand. The only thing I can get the radio to do is whether an FM radio.

### 1/5 — Don’t bother- doesn’t work

*2024-11-01, version 1.21*

Clearly they no longer support this app. Bluetooth implementation no longer works. Android app works. Try that.

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2024-10-13, version 1.21*

Does not work either on the IC-705 or ID-52. Brilliant radios but this software that is supposed to support them is absolute rubbish.

### 1/5 — IS-52 and iPhone 13 won't connect

*2024-08-21, version 1.21*

The app is worthless. Cannot connect to iPhone 13 Pro Max. Tried two phones. Pairs and connects, then drops the connection. Too bad. Gave up.

### 1/5 — ID-52

*2024-05-24*

Connects and immediately disconnects from iPhone 14 with most current iOS. such a frustrating waste of time. The app looks useful, but cannot get it to connect to the radio for more than two seconds.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Once again quick fix from the Icom Devs

*2024-12-20*

I reported a connection bug a few weeks ago and the excellent devs from Icom knocked this out quickly. Thank you! Once again, I am an Icom user for life. Their support is second to none!

### 5/5 — Works fine

*2024-09-21*

The app works great for me. Connected to my 705 even from another room.

### 5/5 — IC-705

*2023-06-05*

This app gets some bad reviews. It works for me and has some interesting features.

It works with my IC-705. It allows me to send and receive pictures along with view stations and repeaters on the map.

I tried the text feature but it did not work. The issue may be because the radio I was attempting to message using the text feature was an IC-9700.

Hopefully ICOM will continue to develop and improve this app.

### 5/5 — Reported a bug with picture crashing the app and they fixed it FAST!

*2022-03-25, version 1.21*

Could not be happier. One of the issues I had with the app is that it would crash when selecting a picture to send. I reported this to Icom US support a couple of weeks ago. Today they released a bug fix for the app that fully fixed the issue.

I already love Icom HW but this great service and taking care of my issue earned Icom a customer for life.

### 5/5 — Works well with my ID-52

*2022-03-21*

No problems so far with my ID-52. Quite surprised actually to have a handheld companion app even if I don’t use it for anything.

### 5/5 — Works as described on supported radios!

*2021-12-29*

I won’t fault the program for not supporting radios it doesn’t claim to support. I have a 4100A and this app works like a champ. There are many basic functions that I prefer to use by app instead of radio, but don’t expect to be able to do deep menu work by phone, just the stuff basic menu functions.

I really like the ability to pull up the map and select repeaters by map. The past contacts are very nice to see on the phone screen instead of just the small radio screen. Yes, I am pleased overall.

### 4/5 — Almost perfect. App closes when opening the map and moving about. Annoying!

*2026-01-30*

App closes when opening map! Annoying.

### 4/5 — Needs better pairing instructions

*2024-04-10, version 1.21*

Took me a long time to figure out how to pair the app to my ID-52. It’s very counter-intuitive. The trick is to use the menu setting “pairing reception” on the ID-52 NOT the “pairing / connect” option as you would expect. Once I got the app connected it’s pretty amazing to be able to have stations appear on the map in real-time. I hope Icom will continue to work on the app as it would be interesting to see what else might appear in future.

### 4/5 — Works great!

*2022-12-17, version 1.21*

This app does a great job operating Dstar on my IC705. The interface is simple to use and has a great set of features.

I would like the ability to import repeater lists via the Files in iOS or from One Drive, Drop Box, etc. The instructions say to sync the files with iTunes but I’m not sure how that will help.

Exporting the downloaded repeater list creates a CSV file but I cannot find it in the iOS file system. The CSV is only within the app.

The android version (RS MS1A) does exactly as I am describing above and works well.

### 4/5 — Worked ‘out of the box’

*2022-02-05, version 1.20*

So pleased to see this available now for Apple. Paired with the ID-52E easily and repeater list updated via Bluetooth.
