## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App Doesn’t Work properly

*2024-12-06*

Neither scanning the QR nor searching the QR serial number seem to work. I just get an “Error Occured” screen. This has been an on and off issue for the past few months.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback, and we apologize for the frustration you've experienced. We're happy to let you know that we’ve identified and resolved the issue causing the QR scanning and serial number search errors. Please update to the latest version of the app, and everything should work as expected.
If you have additional feedback or need technical assistance, please open a ticket with our Service Desk within the Chemicals app by selecting "More" in the lower right, then selecting "Contact Service Desk".

### 1/5 — Slow and unresponsive

*2024-04-25*

Please improve the app as it tends to act very slow and becomes unresponsive.

### 1/5 — Test Your Updates Buddy

*2023-10-16*

The new update:

1) initially crashed 100% of the time on login
2) removed the ability to see chemical inventory outside of your own lab
3) removed or obfuscated the way to new log chemicals into your own lab’s inventory.

I know the UC is physically incapable of having functional web infrastructure, but do you think you guys could make an exception in this case so I can continue effectively doing my job for you? Jesus Christ.

**Developer response:** We apologize for your recent experience. If you would like to speak with someone, our service desk can help with technical issues, training, or feedback. To open a ticket within the Chemicals Mobile app, select More in the lower right, then select Contact Service Desk.

### 1/5 — New update is terrible

*2023-08-11*

Used to be able to search for all chemicals on campus but can no longer do so. FIX THIS PLEASE!!!

**Developer response:** We’re sorry you were impacted by the recent update. We wanted to let you know that we have plans to bring this feature back. If you have more feedback to share, you can also open a ticket with our Service Desk within the Chemicals app by selecting More in the lower right, then selecting Contact Service Desk.

### 1/5 — Horrible usability

*2023-07-15*

Nothing was wrong with the previous update

**Developer response:** We apologize for your recent experience. If you would like to speak with someone or have more feedback to share, you can also open a ticket with our Service Desk within the Chemicals app by selecting More in the lower right, then select Contact Service Desk.

### 1/5 — Awful app!!

*2019-08-20*

Needs major updates. It’s frustrating to have the user logged out after every use.

### 1/5 — Needs SERIOUS improvement

*2018-10-08*

Not only is this app bad but it also undermines the purpose of safety and inventory database of our chemicals. I’m also not sure why it’s taking so long to create an update to fix the current issues with the app... it won’t even load. It doesn’t seem like EH&S is having good communication with their programming team so it’s going to be hard for future staff to take them seriously when they attempt to take their chemical inventory into the digital realm.

### 1/5 — Terrible App

*2018-08-14*

This app is hilariously bad in so many ways. It has stopped working for iOS for a few months now and even with the constant “updates” there seems to be no progress in trying to actually address any issues. Would not recommend at all for any lab to adopt this atrocious app. Look elsewhere because this is not it.

### 1/5 — Bad

*2018-06-08*

Pain to use, doesn’t work with DUO two-step Authenticator, forced upon by uc system, who’s probably getting kickbacks from app developers, will not recommend, fight the system.

**Developer response:** We are sorry you have experienced these issues. If you are willing, we would appreciate more information on what in the app you found painful to use and would like to troubleshoot any issues with your campus two-step authorization. Please contact us at service@RiskandSafetySolutions.com.

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work

*2018-05-28*

After the most recent update, the app no longer works. This greatly hinders research as it takes away the ability to quickly scan barcodes to checkout chemicals.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your response. The issues identified with recent releases of the UC Chemicals app have been resolved and a new version has been deployed. Please download the latest version. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

### 5/5 — Heading the right direction

*2018-10-07*

To all the complaints, I’d ask those people do you really want to use paper and binders for another 50 years? And if your thinking we don’t need an inventory, then please your try convincing the government that researchers will be diligent and not store unstable chemicals for 30 years and won’t over stock flammables or other nonsense lol! In a perfect inventories aren’t needed, but we aren’t in a perfect world. So what we end up with is PI’s hoarding chemicals and a way over due, way over burdened UC chemicals system in 2018. It’s not perfect, but it’s heading the right direction and I am just glad any effort has been made! Flying Spaghetti Monster knows researchers and PI won’t make the process easy and will sure let you know in their complaints! So to the UC Chemicals programmers, I’d like to say, keep up the good work and please please keep at it!

Ps if your reading this and you are new to grad school... I promise what we had (or didn’t have) was worse... so try to learn how we got to where we are now, before you complain about what we are working on 😜!

Sincerely
     A researcher at UCLA

### 5/5 — Has made entering chemicals much faster

*2016-09-09*

Love the scanning functionality and being able to quickly enter in information from my mobile device.

### 3/5 — Slow and unresponsive

*2025-04-14*

Please improve the app as it tends to act very slow and becomes unresponsive. Also, a few times, it fails to redirect to the 2FA page.

**Developer response:** We apologize for the inconvenience you’ve experienced with the app's performance. Your feedback has been received by our developers who are researching solutions for improving speed and responsiveness. If you have additional feedback or need technical assistance, please open a ticket with our Service Desk within the Chemicals app by selecting More in the lower right, then selecting Contact Service Desk.

### 3/5 — Missing function and need to keep me logged in

*2024-08-22*

It is extremely hard to log in to the app while working in the lab and having my gloves on. Especially difficult when I need to verify the MFA. Also, the waste management function is missing. I have to travel between the lab and office to get the job done. Obviously the team need to talk with the real users who are working in the lab and dealing with hazardous materials.

**Developer response:** Thank you for providing your valuable feedback. Your concerns have been communicated to the development team for evaluation and consideration in future versions. If you have additional feedback or need technical assistance, please open a ticket with our Service Desk within the Chemicals app by selecting "More" in the lower right, then selecting "Contact Service Desk".

### 2/5 — Cannot login

*2021-01-27*

I can’t get past the login screen. I put in my email. And am trying to click “sign in” but the button isn’t highlighted so I can even click it. Tried force closing but it didn’t help.

I’m open to leaving a higher rating if someone could help me move past the login screen please!

### 2/5 — Update fix

*2020-07-28*

The update made the screen to stretched now the save and back buttons are under the WiFi and battery so I can’t save chemicals or go back can you place the save button in a different location
