### 5/5 — My favorite app ever

*2026-06-19*

At first I was curious to see if the map was accurate, to my surprise every location has been a hit!!! Even worth the premium version

### 1/5 — Don’t get.

*2026-03-30*

I can’t delete it for some reason no mater what I do and you have to pay to do anything, I’m very disappointed with this app don’t get it.

### 1/5 — Not free

*2026-01-30*

I downloaded it because it said it was free but it only had a free trial it’s a great app if you’re willing to pay

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad you like the app. We’re sorry for the confusion, the app includes a free trial so users can try all features before deciding to subscribe. We appreciate you giving it a try.

### 1/5 — Everything is behind a paywall

*2025-12-27*

I downloaded this app from Tik Tok, which suggested that I would be able to find cool rocks, gems, and minerals around my location. Upon downloading, and after creating an account, you are immediately brought to the option to subscribe monthly or weekly. I didn’t subscribe, because every app hides everything worth anything behind a paywall. Would you like to see the map? Sure! But you want to filter your results? You have to pay a subscription! Nope! No thank you! At this rate, I’d much rather just go to the creek bed outside and see what I can find there on a warm day and a good manual!

**Developer response:** Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We understand subscriptions aren’t for everyone. The app does offer free access to explore the map and see nearby locations, while advanced filters and detailed data are part of the paid plan.

We’ve already expanded the free features recently, but building and maintaining accurate rock, mineral, and location data takes real time and resources. The subscription helps support that work.

Totally fair if you prefer heading to the creek with a manual, that’s rockhounding at its best. The app is there as an optional tool for people who want deeper info and planning support.

### 1/5 — Pay to do anything

*2025-12-23*

Can’t really do anything on the app without paying a subscription. I was excited to see a map of locations in my area and unfortunately, with the free version, the locations won’t tell you any rocks that you can find there. Makes it useless. Frustrating that everything needs a subscription service these days.

**Developer response:** Thanks for sharing your experience, I understand how that can feel frustrating. The free version is intended to let you explore the map and see what’s nearby, while more detailed information is part of the subscription.

We’ve recently expanded what’s available for free, but maintaining accurate and useful data across many locations takes ongoing effort. The subscription helps support that work.

Totally fair if it’s not the right fit for you. We appreciate you trying the app and taking the time to leave feedback.

### 1/5 — Not free and only trialware with a paid subscription

*2025-10-26*

Zero star for wasting my time.

**Developer response:** We’ve been hearing this feedback and we’re actually working on giving more features for free soon. Our goal isn’t to block you, it’s to keep improving the app for everyone while still covering costs. Appreciate you trying it out 🙏 hope you’ll give it another go when the next update drops!

### 1/5 — Read

*2025-10-18*

App is trash unless you pay.

**Developer response:** We’re sorry to hear that. While some premium features require a subscription to support AI and server costs, many parts of the app remain free to explore. Your feedback means a lot and helps us keep making it better.

### 1/5 — Pay now or pay later

*2025-10-11*

If you don’t mind paying for an app. This might be the one for you however after you go through the sign up process, they offer a free one week trial “with” credit card so they can charge you afterwards. I’m sick of apps doing this. Just put the price up front so I can decide before creating a profile which I have no doubt I will receive relentless emails on now!

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for your feedback. We understand how you feel. The free trial is meant to let people try all features before deciding, and it can be cancelled anytime. We really appreciate your comment and will work to make things clearer and easier for everyone.

### 5/5 — Helpful Fossicking App

*2025-09-27*

I’ve been trying this app while out fossicking and it’s been useful. The map shows good area. One thing I’d love to see is offline map. Overall, a useful app.

### 2/5 — There aren’t any pics of Rocks

*2025-09-23*

The app is either a monthly fee or annual for $40. And there’s a lot of information about different rocks, crystals, maps on where to find them, identifying properties, rock hunting guides, etc. But it’s all text. Zero visual references, which makes the app basically unusable for visual learners. I was really excited about the map and identification support, but I question the legitimacy based on the rest of the app.

There’s a gem shop in the app selling gems and rocks, but the prices on most of the items I saw were extremely overpriced. The app feels a bit like a front for the gem shop.

**Developer response:** (Update: We’ve now added a gallery for each rock section!)

Thank you for taking the time to share your honest feedback with us. We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience with the app didn’t meet your expectations. Visual references are very important for learning about rocks and minerals, and we understand how the lack of photos made it difficult for you. This is something we’re actively working on improving, and your feedback helps us prioritize it.

Regarding the gem shop, we want to assure you that it is optional and separate from the core features of the app. Our main goal is to build a useful resource for rock identification, maps, and guides. That said, we hear your concerns and will carefully review how the shop is presented so it doesn’t take away from the main experience.

We truly value your input and will continue working hard to make the app more helpful and transparent for everyone. Thank you again for giving us a chance and for pointing out where we can do better.
