### 3/5 — Does not seem to be reliable

*2025-10-06, version 3.0.32*

I wanted this to work so I knew if I need to adjust my iron intake. I did this test two days in a row and there was a 2 point difference. The lower of the two numbers was done in my bathroom which has what claims to be a daylight light bulb and the higher number was done in a room with a standard led. I do the free version so I only use it when I feel off and need to know if it is iron or protein I need. hopefully one day this can be a lot more accurate because right now they're really aren't at home tests unless you get it from a different country and or pay an arm and a leg and I'm not going to run to the doctor every time there's a problem because it's pretty much pointless for a female in the US.

### 3/5 — Lighting is Key

*2025-06-12, version 3.0.5*

Depending on lighting the results can be wildly different.
App need to control for lighting or advise user as to lighting.

### 2/5 — Pricing?

*2025-01-29, version 2.3.30*

Why is the 12 month price more than double the 6 month price?

### 4/5 — Helps me to avoid IV iron

*2024-11-29, version 2.3.17*

I use this app to help me avoid IV iron by increasing oral iron supplements when my numbers fall off

### 1/5 — Scam.

*2024-09-12, version 2.3.7*

Used it twice during the trial period. Cancelled it before the trial period ended but was charged for a year subscription. I can’t get a response about a refund.

### 2/5 — Needs work!

*2024-09-03, version 2.3.7*

I love the concept of this but found it can become inaccurate. For example. I get a cbc ran often as I have Polycthemia Vera. I also have blood removed routinely because of my disease over producing red blood. I was trying to use this as a additional tool but find it becomes inaccurate over time. When I input my labs it then requires me to calibrate by taking another picture of my nails. Which for me is a problem as I also had a phlebotomy (blood removal) after my cbc. I can’t get around the calibration which also changed future readings to be higher than they are as the app can not differentiate the fact that I had 500 ml blood removed. What would be helpful as someone who really wants this to work due to a chronic blood cancer, would be to bypass calibration if needed. Perhaps a check box to skip calibration. Because once you input labs you have to do calibration and when I do that it messes with all future readings. So to bypass this I have had to create a whole new account with no calibration history. I really want this tool to be beneficial to me as having a chronic blood cancer where I make too much blood. I do not substitute this for Dr Care. I use in conjunction. The only work around I have for now is to do new account and make sure when entering lab results that I also do the calibration immediately when I get the lab results. Which is fine but now I have to do this at Dr Office right before they take 500 ml of blood. If I forget because I am being drained of my blood there is no way to bypass this calibration. Even reset the data feature in app might be useful. Deleting each input does nothing to correct. I’ve already tried.

### 1/5 — Ha, it didn’t work

*2024-08-10, version 2.3.5*

So I downloaded this being diagnosed as anemic knowing for a fact it would not work bc it’s looking for a certain nail shape that I do not in fact have, it’s not accurate 👍

### 1/5 — I wish it worked

*2024-07-17, version 2.3.3*

I really wanted to like this app. Unfortunately , the readings are extremely inaccurate. It’s also very expensive for something that doesn’t work.

### 3/5 — so far so good

*2024-07-06, version 2.3.2*

just checked my level with the app and was 14.4. my level from the hospital yesterday was 14.3. hopefully this app works. tired of getting jabbed with needles. also the $20 off code does not work. keeps saying invalid code.

### 1/5 — Too variable

*2024-07-01, version 2.3.2*

First three tests within minutes of each other all gave decidedly different results. All were performed with lighting following the app’s recommendations.

### 1/5 — If I could give 0 I would NOT accurate

*2024-06-14, version 2.3.2*

I suffer from anemia for the past 25 yrs. I get iron transfusions regularly. I found this program and excited to have a way to watch my levels to know when it starts dropping. I went to the hospital had hemoglobin checked 9.1. Which everyone knows is low I knew I needed iron but could not get scheduled for 2 weeks. I work 12 plus hrs a day 6 days a week very stressful go go go job. I was doing liquid iron at home trying to stabilize my levels. The app continued to show 11.2 which was the same day I got out of ER so I knew it was off but I did scan every day and it changed to 13.6 which is amazing for me until I blacked out at work driving! Back to ER hemoglobin 8.1. So I cancel the subscription THEN they charge my card sorry but this app doesn’t work and I want a refund I removed the app before you charged my card so no I won’t give you $10 for a month when relying on your app could have killed me

### 2/5 — App good but shady business

*2024-06-12, version 2.3.2*

I signed up for yearly subscription but when I went to do the 4th test It said to sign up I emailed sanguine and they at first did try signing in by another method and that failed and they just contacted me again saying they couldn’t find my membership they didn’t ask for proof that I could send them they basically said tough luck and Amex said I waited too long to dispute so am out 55 dollars and can’t use app

### 1/5 — Junk

### 2/5 — Excited for reliable home testing options

*2024-05-08, version 2.2.17*

As the developers have stated there’s room for improvement with this app, and I’m excited for a day when it does provide reliable results. For a healthy individual, this is a great option to give you an idea. Unfortunately, for those that actually need this, it’s not reliable yet. I have faith that maybe someday it will be though!

As a mom of a kiddo with hemolytic anemia, conditions with the same symptoms, on top of delicate and difficult veins; this would be an absolute game changer. We’re only a month into this nightmare, and truthfully I haven’t really known when it was time to take her in since the first time she was hospitalized. That was only because she was ghost white with a yellow tinge and couldn’t keep anything down. Four transfusions and two hospitalizations later, I’m constantly second guessing myself. Is it her POTS, autonomic dysfunction, or is she hemolyzing again?? This poor kid is a tough poke, her veins go flat or blow extremely easily; so her poor arms are covered in bruises from draws and IV’s.

When we tried the app we had decent natural lighting, her first reading was 11.3 the second a few minutes later was 14.5. When I tried myself it said 10.3, which I know from recent bloodwork is no where close to accurate (not even the +\- 2.4 points). I’m hopeful that development and research continues because this would be so amazing for IMHA and anemia patients in general.

### 1/5 — Dangerous app

*2026-06-28, version 3.2.1*

My hemoglobin is 29.3 and ferritin is 5, but Ruby Health stops at 26 and claimed I am not anemic. I am medically diagnosed with severe anemia. I got this app to show my progress, but based on my experience this app is unsafe for anyone tracking their condition.

### 1/5 — don’t work

*2025-05-18, version 3.0.5*

horrible all it does says can’t find nail

### 1/5 — Would Not take pic of Nales

*2025-05-06, version 3.0.5*

I could Not get it to take a picture of my Nails with my iPad, it kept saying move closer, but Nothing, would not take a picture, I have to delete the app, they better Not try and take money from me, I only hade it for an hour, and tried taking pics of my nails for 50 minutes.

### 1/5 — Inaccurate

*2025-04-21, version 3.0.4*

App kept showing deficient or low iron but got my lab results and it was 20 points higher than what the app was showing

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work since update

*2025-04-14, version 3.0.0*

They deleted the manual test and the app no longer works for me

### 1/5 — Inaccurate results, interesting concept

*2025-04-07, version 3.0.0*

I tested myself twice in indoor light and next to natural window light. Both tests from Ruby said I am not anemic when blood tests confirm I am severely anemic enough to require IV iron. I would not trust this app for any actual medical advice. Uninstall for me.

### 1/5 — Most useless app

*2024-12-25, version 2.3.21*

this app severely lacks accuracy. Readings are nowhere near close. for a healthy person with good hb levels and even after calibration, it shows hb level of 6.1. it needs a lot of work before it can be any useful. good idea but bad implementation. might be useful one day, not now.

### 1/5 — Beware doesn’t work

*2024-11-16, version 2.3.17*

Showed hemoglobin as 12.2. Um no sorry it’s 5.3. With two real tests. Do not even think of using this to keep even slight track of your hemoglobin. I sure would hate for someone to end up critical using this app. However, the Concept is great if it worked or even semi worked.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2024-10-22, version 2.3.10*

I wanted to see if this was actually helpful, told me im healthy. When in reality im super low and need to do blood transfusions

### 1/5 — Terribly Inaccurate!

*2024-09-25, version 2.3.8*

I first downloaded this app about a year ago and quickly realized the readings were very inaccurate. The tests always showed me in the healthy range, though I struggle constantly with iron deficient anemia. Today, my doctor ordered a blood transfusion after getting my lab results back. I decided to try the app to see if it detected the low levels. Nope, it gave me scores of 14+ both times I tested.

I can’t understand how they advertise this app as being effective if it’s so far off. Obviously it’s not meant to be diagnostic, but I can’t see it being helpful at all. I have read that these types of tests can be less accurate for people of color, but they should include a disclaimer if that’s the case. Bent fingers also have more pigment in the nail bed than when they are straight, so I wonder if that leads to higher readings.

Either way, I have no use for this trash app, so I deleted it today. Just want to warn people not to rely on it, especially if you are anemic.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2025-07-13, version 3.0.5*

Great product

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2025-06-30, version 3.0.5*

Easy to track my wellness trends with instant results.

### 5/5 — Unbelievably Accurate

*2025-01-21, version 2.3.21*

My hemoglobin level as measured by this app gave me reason to have it checked by a lab. The lab’s result was identical to the app’s. It makes no sense but in my case it hit the nail on the head!

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2024-07-22, version 2.3.3*

I've been using this app for over a year now and it has been very helpful to monitor my iron score levels. Highly recommend it!

### 5/5 — Saved me from my own supplement ignorance!

*2024-06-20, version 2.3.2*

About 6 weeks ago, I started taking B12 and folate due to respective deficiencies and thought, why not throw in a combined zinc (50mg) and copper (2mg) supplement?

Within the last week I tried this app and was surprised to see my iron scores consistently well below the cutoff. I questioned my recent supplement usage, which led me to an abundance of medical studies documenting copper deficiency due to excess zinc.

I most likely have malabsorption problems, but the combined zinc/copper supplement certainly didn’t help things.

### 5/5 — The test

*2024-03-30, version 2.2.12*

It’s very accurate I just left the hospital and the numbers on my blood rate are almost identical…

### 5/5 — App is no longer accurate

*2023-12-14, version 2.2.2*

My hemoglobin has been at 12.9 for the past year, taken twice over the last year at a reputable lab. Yet this app gives me readings over 14. Very inaccurate. Also they now want to charge you if you want to do more than 1 test a month.

### 5/5 — Yay

*2023-12-13, version 2.2.2*

What a gift! I love this and recommend it to all that will hear about it!!

### 5/5 — Great application

*2023-10-14, version 2.1.13*

I think that is something at least

### 5/5 — Interesting for sure!!

*2023-01-29, version 2.0.4*

I actually have high haemoglobin at 18.1 so this would actually allow me to get a ballpark estimate of how I’m doing.. It of course isn’t a blood panel but some idea is better than waiting 3 months before my next appointment.
