### 2/5 — Worthless

*2015-09-04, version 7.2*

There is nothing good to say about this. Nothing.

**Developer response:** Can you explain your opinion please?

### 1/5 — Can't handle even basic programs.

*2015-05-06, version 7.2*

Has a pay wall that limits the amount of compilations it can do. Running basic programs takes a long time. Doesn't have offline access. Functionality is limited as I can't seem to get a gets command to work.

**Developer response:** There is no low limit of compilations per day anymore.

### 1/5 — not for offline use

*2015-03-21, version 7.2*

Claims to be the great programming tool in the App Store. It's not. It doesn't have an internal Ruby interpreter, so it requires a network connection to use an online one. If you need to work offline and don't necessarily need Ruby, then the great programming tool I'd recommend is Pythonista.

**Developer response:** It's great that users can write and execute their own Ruby programs on a mobile device!

### 1/5 — Free version can not compile any new code

*2014-09-13, version 6.5*

Have to buy credit for compilations.

### 1/5 — Too Slow

*2014-04-05, version 4.3*

Ruby on my iPad would be awesome, but this tool can't even print a simple puts quickly. This app is really slow and I regret the $2 that I spent. Bummer, because I thought this would be great.

**Developer response:** Please check your Internet connection if it works too slow for you.

### 1/5 — Pay for compilations?

*2013-10-27, version 3.6*

Do not get this app. You must pay to compile your programs. JUNK!

**Developer response:** Just buy unlimited compilations and use the application as much as you want!

### 1/5 — 1 use only

*2013-08-23, version 3.6*

You have to pay for extra compiles. Piece of crap

**Developer response:** Unfortunately, we can't offer free compilations with the application.

### 1/5 — Crap

*2013-08-21*

Don't bother

**Developer response:** Please explain your opinion in details.

### 1/5 — Ruby

*2013-01-28*

This app is a total WASTE OF TIME. You are better of using an RD application to connect to your PC. I can't see how it got past any quality control at Apple. Apple are supposed to protect us from this sort of crap.

**Developer response:** Please describe what exact problems with the application do you have?

### 1/5 — Rip-off

*2012-08-10, version 2.0*

Do not buy this app. There are a limited number of times that you can run your programs. Don't waste your money, there are much better Ruby apps out there. This App would be great if they fixed that.

**Developer response:** There is no low limit of compilations per day anymore.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Insufficient compilations

*2020-08-21*

As above

### 1/5 — Lack of file system

*2019-12-07, version 13.0*

Without the ability to read and write files the program is pretty useless

### 1/5 — Boooooooooooo

*2017-10-06, version 9.4*

Horrible it stinks I'm leaving no stupid stars😡😡😡😡😡😡

**Developer response:** Please provide more details in your review.

### 1/5 — Keep moving

*2017-09-25, version 9.4*

I'm a novice, but couldn't get it to do a simple console program because gets doesn't work.

**Developer response:** Please contact support and describe your problem.

### 1/5 — Ridiculous pricing

*2017-04-25*

In fact it is a paid app. It wants £1 per 100 compilations which is slightly over the top.

**Developer response:** The best option to evaluate simple operations or programs on the go. You can also buy unlimited compilations.

### 1/5 — Useless w/o in-app purchases

*2017-01-08, version 9.4*

Absolutely unusable without purchasing "code executions" via in-app micro transactions.

Not paying $1 for every 100 executions...

**Developer response:** Unfortunately, we can't offer free compilations. But you can buy unlimited package as well!

### 1/5 — Having to pay for compilations?

*2016-05-22, version 9.4*

What's the point of programming? Compiling numerous times to test your theories. So don't make us pay for each one.

**Developer response:** You can buy unlimited compilations and use the application as much as you want.

### 1/5 — Definition of Greed

*2016-02-03*

Charging $1.00 USD for 100 compilations is ridiculous. Remember that the only REPL is hitting "Run" (which is 1 compilation) so by the time you've finished your code, you've probably done 10-15 compilations just for that section of code. So a half hour's work (e.g. while traveling to work) could cost you 50 cents to a dollar. It's input system is another tab where you type in before you run the program. Terrible (I understand Apple puts restrictions but nobody forced you to charge for a flawed implementation). Plus it's slow. And they give you like 5 compilations for free I think, not enough to get a feel for it. At least refresh each day or limit by size.

Unlimited is $2. But is that worth it?

**Developer response:** You can buy unlimited compilations and use the application as much as you want!

### 1/5 — Not worth the money

*2015-06-07, version 7.2*

It's not a compiler, just a link to a internet server that handles very simple code.

### 1/5 — Garbageware

*2015-05-24, version 7.2*

As others mentioned, it not only doesn't work offline but has a limited number of compilations. That means the software is broken. You don't get to put it out broken and call getting it work an "in-app purchase" like you're unlocking additional features, on top of providing no local functionality. This app is a ruse.

**Developer response:** You can buy unlimited compilations and use it as much as you want!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — I like being able to write Ruby code on a tablet

*2016-09-24, version 9.4*

The programs are sent to a remote server for execution. This is both a restriction and an advantage. I don't have to maintain the interpreter on a server to use the product, but it isn't up to me to customize the installation to my liking, either.

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2014-05-03, version 4.3*

I am writing a compiler that targets many languages and this app is ideal for my purposes. Keep up the good work!

### 5/5 — Good

*2014-01-08, version 4.3*

Good!!!

### 4/5 — awesome

*2016-12-11, version 9.4*

Thats a really good compiler, it works fine, but only minus is that you need to pay to compile. I would recommend developer to add 5 free compiling so people can test. Everything else is cool

### 4/5 — Okay

*2012-12-07, version 2.0*

* need to be able to load other files

* Sorry, you have reached a limit of reviews per day. Please try again later.

### 4/5 — Ruby Programming

*2012-11-25*

I'm a complete noob when it comes to Ruby but I'm enjoying this app. It's really handy for practising the basics. Took me a moment to suss how the gets() worked - I hadn't noticed the Input button! - And I wasn't expecting the daily compilation limit but other than that, this is a really nice tool. Thanks!

### 3/5 — Input should not be required for “compile”

*2018-12-02, version 11.1*

An input change should not require program to be recompiled... guessing it’s because the program is not actually executed via App, but instead “compile” uploads program and input(s) to server, then “run” requests server to execute code and brings back the outputs, etc. kinda hokie for what it’s sold as... but still neat. Not planning to pay for play, will be deleting app after this review.

### 3/5 — Nice app but !!

*2014-03-15, version 4.3*

I was looking for this app and I payed for unlimited compilation but some codes are not working like:
gets.chomp

Please fix this!

### 3/5 — Pretty good app

*2013-08-20, version 3.6*

This is a pretty good app, but I think it should be able to run more files.

### 3/5 — Warning: Doesn't work in airplane mode.

*2012-05-31, version 2.0*

As far as I can tell, this is a friendly front end to various online Ruby resources, including a Ruby interpreter. Unfortunately, this means most of it won't work without an Internet connection. There's nothing necessarily wrong with that, but you should be aware of it before you purchase.
