### 4/5 — Lose the splash screen

*2022-11-06, version 6.8.5*

Lose the darn splash screen that comes up every time you go to the app, whether it’s open already or not and you get 5 stars. It takes too long to get to the messages…

### 2/5 — Great Service - Bad App

*2022-06-12, version 6.8.1*

I love the service. Only complaint is that it’s not 24/7. However, the app is extremely buggy and slow. Usually takes 1-2 minutes to open. The. If so want to see activity it has to load for another 10 seconds to see who called. Super slow servers. Get it together Ruby. You’re on a great path to success but you HAVE to invest in your IT!

### 2/5 — Good service, poor app

*2022-03-30, version 6.8*

App is glitchy and takes forever to load and refresh. Service by receptionists is good

### 2/5 — Friendly, but terrible, receiptionists

*2021-11-16, version 6.8*

We have used Ruby for over two years. We just had to stop using them finally since there were so many problems. How many hours of tech support do you want to spend with your receptionist service?

1. The app never works. Always crashing, glitching. Search function fails, messages disappear. Hours lost with tech support.

2. Messages taken by receptionists often have errors- typos in names, inaccurate messages. Time consuming to figure out what is true.

3. Statuses are impossible to set, instructions never seem to work. No matter how many times we called to set a setting, it always was wrong. Assigned to the wrong person, calls routed to the wrong line. Once a setting was set permanently, no one could get it taken off, despite promises that it was changed.

4. The two stars I give are because the receptionists were always SO INCREDIBLY FRIENDLY. Unfortunately that wasn’t enough to keep us. I hope they find a way to fix their app and fix their services, because right now it is not useable.

### 2/5 — The app itself has issues

*2019-11-09, version 6.0*

I want to be clear that I’m reviewing the app only. One problem I’ve had is trouble getting Ruby to allow me to place outgoing calls- I’ll attempt to dial and nothing happens- the call doesn’t go through and the screen doesn’t even register the request. This happens less frequently when I call from the message from Ruby. I hope that makes sense. I also have had issues with the notifications. I was away for a few days and activated my Do Not Disturb. When I came back, I had 26 missed calls. I went through and read each notification separately to dismiss them, but whenever I get a new message, the number comes back plus the amount of new messages I have. When I review the new notifications, the number disappears again.
I will keep and eye on the issues mentioned and update my review when these are fixed. You got this, devs! I hope this information helps!

### 2/5 — Recent update

*2019-07-22, version 5.4.1*

This recent update does not seem to be working. I’m running iOS 12.3.1 on an iPhone Xs. App was working before the update.

### 2/5 — New UI has an issue

*2019-07-08, version 5.4*

As of July 7, 2019, the new UI doesn’t let me set custom end time for status. I can set start time, but every time I try to edit the end time it changes back to 11:00pm. Please fix.

### 4/5 — Crashing is cramping my love for the app

*2019-05-15, version 5.3*

Love Ruby but the app keeps crashing when I try to update my status. I have to try 3 or 4 times to get it to save. Also sometimes when I am sending/receiving texts. Otherwise love it— Love that I can text clients from within the app (even though ruby does not host my number) and I love that I can read transcripts of voicemails (even when sometimes they are not *quite* correct). Always love dealing with the folks at Ruby too.

### 3/5 — Great Service, Buggy App

*2019-05-07, version 5.3*

Love Ruby Receptionists & the live answering service but the app is still very buggy. E.g., in the middle of a call, a high pitch tone will begin which forces us to hang up & re-initiate the call. This happens for both my phone and my assistant’s and has been ongoing for a few months. The app still does not support texting, which is a bit frustrating, and there’s no ability to save phone numbers to which calls are routed or forwarded, other than your own & Ruby. The app also crashes a lot, especially when I try to switch from the call out page to the activity page. Finally, the app will send me a notification of a missed call when there has not been one. Hopefully these kinks can be worked out; the live Ruby Receptionists are so wonderful & the buggy app kind of overshadows how great they are.

### 2/5 — Horrible App - But Great Service

*2018-12-17, version 5.1.3*

I love the service that Ruby provides. But this app is awful. It will not let you add numbers to your contact list - or - it will tell you they are saved when they are not. Sometimes for no apparent reason the app crashes. Ruby is a great service and if the app works it would be a 6 out of 5 stars. That said - HOLY COW FIX YOUR APP!

**Developer response:** Hello.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I'm happy to report that we fixed the issues you've described with our Contacts feature in our latest release. If you continue to experience anything like this again, please feel welcome to reach out to staff@callruby.com or 866-611-7829 and we will be glad to sort things out.
Best,
Ruby Receptionists

### 3/5 — Good with room to improve

*2018-09-18, version 4.8*

The Ruby app is a good start but has room to grow. App is a little slow to load, calendar integration for setting status has a bug that tries to fetch all calendars that are shared with you (instead of just your own calendar). Would love to see more options to hold calls for 1 hour, until noon, etc. Graphics really need an update and app should not have to call so much data (lots of spinning gifs)

### 5/5 — Impressed

*2018-06-26, version 4.7.1*

I have been duly impressed with this service. Particularly when when I was in between patients and they forwarded a very important call to me from a patient of mine. I have had no complaints about the answering service and I have noticed that they are very good about matching the clients tone and need as the calls come in. I believe this was money well spent. You get what you pay for and when you purchased the ruby service you were getting extremely high-quality and super smart people that know what they’re doing.

**Developer response:** Hi Lisa. Wow. We couldn’t be happier to hear that the Ruby service has been such a positive experience for you and your business. Thank you so much for the compliment! -Ruby Receptionists

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App Not Working

*2022-06-04, version 6.8.1*

Doesn’t load after latest update, always incredibly difficult to report issues to company

### 1/5 — App is trash

*2022-04-05, version 6.8*

As far as the ruby service, they are great. There is a reason they are pricier than their competitors. But it’s worth it.

The app is pure trash. It’s not very good when it works. But it barely works. Doesn’t load to open half the time. Just today, I reset my phone and deleted the app just to see if it will work.

### 1/5 — Terrible App, Decent Dervice

*2022-03-31, version 6.8*

First the service is pretty good for the price, though in the past year with all their new hires they’ve mad, the quality of the receptionists has decreased. Nearly half the time, they misspell (sometimes wildly) the caller’s name. Not sure why they don’t ask for spelling.

But the biggest problem I’ve encountered after 2 years with the service is the buggy iOS and web based interface for viewing and managing calls and setting status. It’s slow, buggy, and crashing…daily. Several times a week I need to clear my web browser cache/cookies to get the site to load. I’ve had to delete and reinstall the iOS app as well.

And Ruby couldn’t care less. I’ve complained about these issues a half dozen time as have others in their iOS reviews, but management ignores the issues. I suspect they figure they have enough revenue from their existing customer base that they needn’t update their customer-facing technology.

So…user beware. It’s a good service but the affordable price comes with the cost of regular frustration and utter disregard for the customer experience.

### 1/5 — Crashes slow buggy

*2021-06-22, version 6.7.2*

Super slow not responsive at all. Chat script crashes easy time. Often have to close reopen app when making calls. If you switch apps you have to log back in and it takes for ever very very poor app design to an otherwise good service please fix ASAP

### 1/5 — Great service; terrible app.

*2020-05-21, version 6.3.1*

So buggy. Try typing something in the search bar (which appears on the “unread activity” page and not the home page); the first 2-3 times you try it will kick you back to the home screen. This is an annoying bug, but from a design perspective, why do we need to leave the home screen to search at all? Also, when you search, maybe you’ll get a progress indicator or maybe you won’t. Either way, it is unconscionably slow.

This is further compounded by the app requiring a full (slowwwww) restart if you’ve been out of it for more than a few seconds.

There is essential functionality here that makes the service more valuable (calling with your office line’s caller ID from you cell within the app), but it is painful to wade though the bugs.

### 1/5 — Can’t use directory from app

*2019-10-31, version 6.0*

I liked the old app before update where you could dial your company’s directory

### 1/5 — Slow and buggy

*2019-09-01, version 5.4.2*

Takes forever to load. Freezes frequently. Text messages often unreadable for lack of proper spacing.

### 1/5 — New UI for status updates

*2019-07-01, version 5.4*

I have been a satisfied customer for years. However, the new UI in the app for setting one’s status is a compete and total design failure in every way. It is amazing how horrible user interface is. It is so bad, I find it hard to continue recommending the service of it is not quickly fixed.

### 1/5 — No good

*2017-05-31, version 4.0.2*

Why can't this sync properly?

### 1/5 — Stopped Syncing

*2016-02-27, version 3.2*

This update broke most
of the app. Calls and messages no longer show up in real time. I have to log out and back in (or delete/reinstall) to see the current call records. Of course, seeing call records is the main point of the app...

*2021-02-03, version 6.6.2*

As a growing small business, the calls became overwhelming. I work alone in the offices and couldn’t answer line two and I couldn’t answer if I was in a meeting or even in the bathroom! Ruby has made my life so much easier and now my customers aren’t getting my voicemail! Love it.

Ruby has saved my sanity and my practice has taken off! Calls are answered by a human while I am in session. Ruby schedules a return call for me or my client liaison.
