## What is Ruckus?

Rucking is the simplest way to get strong: put weight on your back and walk. Ruckus is the app built for it — precise GPS tracking, live heart-rate zones, and the stats that actually matter when there's a loaded pack on your shoulders.

Whether you're training for a GORUCK event, adding intent to your daily steps, or just want walks that count for more, Ruckus turns every ruck into progress you can see.

TRACK EVERY RUCK
• Live GPS route, distance, pace, duration, and elevation gain
• Calories that factor in your pack weight and body weight — not a generic guess
• Works fully offline: track in the backcountry, sync when you're back on signal

LIVE HEART-RATE ZONES
• Stream heart rate straight from your AirPods, Powerbeats, or any Bluetooth monitor
• See your Zone 1–5 in real time and train at the right intensity
• Set your max HR once and Ruckus does the zone math

STAY MOTIVATED
• Build and protect your rucking streak
• Monthly challenges — distance, time, tonnage, elevation, and streak
• Earn achievements and chase personal bests
• Add friends and climb the leaderboards

SHARE THE WORK
• Turn any ruck into a clean, share-ready card — route map or your stats, your call
• Route start and end are trimmed automatically to protect your home address

BUILT PRIVACY-FIRST
• We never sell your data — Ruckus is funded by subscriptions, not ads
• Location is tracked only during an active ruck, then it stops
• Optional Apple Health sync: read heart rate and weight, save rucks as workouts

**RUCKUS PRO**

Ruckus is a subscription app. Every new account starts with a 2-week free trial; after the trial, a Ruckus Pro subscription is required to continue using Ruckus:

• Monthly — $1.99/month
• Yearly — $19.99/year (best value)

Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Your subscription automatically renews at the price above unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel anytime in your App Store account settings. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

### 5/5 — Easy, intuitive, thoughtful

*2026-08-14*

This is just a beautifully designed app. It’s intuitive - super easy to set up all my preferences, like my rucks and plates. Setup was a breeze, love that it connects to all my other health data. Super easy to see all my history and progress. Also, the branding is super cute! Check out the About Ruckus page - so cool that this app is built and managed by just one person (with an adorable family). Thank you Bradley!

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.0.7 — 2026-08-21

Fixes from your feedback, mostly around the Lock Screen.

• The End button on the Lock Screen works. Tapping End now opens Ruckus and takes you straight to saving your ruck, instead of doing nothing.
• A tidier Live Activity. The card no longer runs out of room: your elapsed time sits up top next to the logo, and the stats and buttons have space to breathe.
• Discarding a ruck really discards it. Tapping Discard no longer counts that ruck toward your achievements or monthly challenges.
• Smaller fixes to the invite screen and the Gear Locker prompt.

### 1.0.6 — 2026-08-18

This one is mostly about the number everyone asks about: calories.

• **See exactly how we count calories.** New page in Settings breaking down the load-carriage model we use, with live charts drawn from your own body weight. It also says plainly where the estimate has limits, because every calorie figure in every fitness app is a prediction, not a measurement.

• **More accurate calories on hills.** Steep descents were being overcounted, which inflated hilly rucks. Climbing, terrain and pack weight are unchanged.

• **Apple Health now gets the right number.** We were sending your total burn to Health's Active Energy, which already counts your resting burn separately. Rucks were roughly a quarter too high in your Move ring. Fixed.

• **Better estimates when GPS drops.** Losing signal under tree cover used to quietly cost you calories. Now a stretch you actually walked gets counted.

• **Invite your crew.** Share an invite code so friends land connected to you from their first ruck.

• **Gear Locker is out of beta** and on for everyone. Track your rucksack, plates and boots, and the miles on each.

• Discarding a ruck no longer sends it to Strava.

• Live Activity End button and Lock Screen layout fixes.

• A pulsing marker so you can find yourself on the map at a glance.
