### 5/5 — Great “O-Coast” like synth app

*2021-01-09*

This is a great app, like all my other Bram Bos apps.
Good interface ergonomics, logical layout.
Easy enough to learn, complex enough to keep me interested for hours.
Great sound quality, my friend says it sounds like his Buchla.

### 5/5 — Supercrunch

*2020-12-29*

As a metal guitarist completely new to app synthesis, I found this very easy to use. Just home use so far, but it also sounds amazing cranked up on the car stereo so I’ve got great expectations for bigger sound systems too. Works really well with Troublemaker and Mononoke in GarageBand on iPhone.

### 5/5 — Yes!

*2020-12-08*

Yes! What else? Listen to it, surely you can hear? This is a hack into another dimension (if used correctly) If not, you might just cause damage with it! Either way, it’s simply brilliant.

### 5/5 — Keep coming back to this

*2020-11-13*

Noir satisfies every time, again again and once more. Top notch as always 👊🏼

### 5/5 — It’s just great

*2020-11-13, version 1.0.8*

Check out and demo on YouTube and then you will come back here and buy it.

### 5/5 — Resolution midi please

*2020-09-24*

Can you add better buttons so I can tweak the real time resolution for drum rolls easier as the screen goes away or a knob per resolution ?

### 5/5 — Still loving it, but...

*2020-09-02*

I’d really need a little update:

-subfolders to sort patches

-RND SEQ: It’s annoying to switch, would be great to get another random sequence button next to the synth randomizer

### 5/5 — Intuitive and sounds great

*2020-04-07, version 1.0.7*

I got this after watching haq attaq’s youtube review. I’m using it on iPhone. Within seconds I had a wild sounding loop. Super fun and easy to learn. I’m excited to use this in some upcoming productions.

### 5/5 — Wow

*2020-03-27*

All of brambros apps are a must if you produce on iOS , top quality

### 5/5 — A creative playground with hella depth

*2020-03-04*

It’s hard to stop creating on this app, Auv3, all kinds of modulation!

### 5/5 — DAAAAAANG.

*2019-11-29*

This is an immensely impressive synth. The range of flexibility and
variety of sounds I can make on the fly is astonishing. And the possibilities for hybrid dubstep drum/bass lines are... incredible. Great work Bram Bos. Definitely recommend for any musician’s toolbox.

### 5/5 — Techno Monster

*2019-11-29*

It’s easily my favourite music app. The sound quality is fantastic and it’s really easy and intuitive to use. It’s very versatile but where it truly shines is making dark industrial sounds, if you like hard techno you NEED this drum synth. I’ve always been impressed by Bram Bos work but this is something else, they really pushed it to the next level. I can’t wait to see what they’ll come up with next :)

### 5/5 — A true original

*2019-09-06*

There’s no other app like this. A weird hybrid of a monophonic synth and a drum module. It can be used as a new-school bassline synth, a drum machine, a glitchy noisemaker, and anything in between. It’s especially good at harsh sounds and edgy dynamic sequences.

### 5/5 — Best App/Developer

*2019-08-07*

A few months deep in my iOS music making journey and Ruismaker apps are not only the most stable in Cubasis for me they’re also the most inspiring. Developer also responded to multiple questions with lightning speed. 10/10 all around

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work

*2020-11-19, version 1.0.8*

Do not buy this app, it does not work on a IPad Pro 2020 at all I want a refund. It also doesn’t work in GarageBand as an audio unit.

### 1/5 — I never downloaded or purchased this App

*2019-07-19*

I did not download this app on my. Could there be some sort of glitch that Apple is using people’s credit card save on file to automatically push paid apps into your phone without your knowledge or consent.

**Developer response:** Please contact Apple about such things. They manage all transactions on the App Store. Giving a 1-star review to the developer is not going to help anyone.

### 1/5 — Not up to par with professional drum apps yet!

*2018-11-19*

Was hoping for ableton link + midi support in the update. Really disappointed! Have to keep using it to half of its real potential as an AU.
For the record, some live musicians use real guitar pedals with ruismaker and ruismaket fm. Not with this one, because it won’t sink with anything else as standalone, not even bram bos apps!

**Developer response:** The app description is clear about the limited functionality of the standalone app. Anyone requiring sample-accurate synchronization, multi-app or multi-instance setups or MIDI routing should consider running this app as an Audio Unit Extension, which gives you all the benefits of standalone (including the sequencer and fullscreen mode) using less resources, seamless synchronization, automatic state saving and higher resolution AU Parameter support. This should also be the best option for "real guitar pedals".

### 1/5 — hipsteruseless

*2018-11-19*

totally a waste of money $9.99 when the hipster intelligentsia producers/supporters and emusician toadies don’t even offer a glimpse of how to change the BPM. i guess you have to meet a hip quotient to understand, because the manual doesn’t. stay away, stay very far away from this.....shame on emusician and ruismaker

**Developer response:** Sorry to hear you couldn’t find the tempo control. In the standalone app it’s the BPM control in the top-left corner. In AUv3 plugin mode the sequencer automatically syncs to the host’s tempo.

### 2/5 — Nette Spielerei ohne echten Mehrwert

*2023-08-03*

**Developer response:** Hello! Noir is an Audio Unit plugin, so the typical way to use it is to host it in a sequencer (such as Logic, Cubasis, Garageband, AUM, etc) and export your track from there.

### 2/5 — Not Sure What The Hype Is About…

*2022-05-16*

Interesting sounds but so damn quiet. Had to have the fader in AUM above unity, with a compressor and gain all the way up in the app and was still problematic.

Have requested a refund. Not for me….

I’m a producer and engineer, not a casual user or producer so it’s not like i dont know what I’m doing. Pretty disappointing

Sorry Ruismaker.

### 3/5 — Inspiring but clunky

*2025-01-14*

I absolutely love the sounds you can make with this but it feels so cumbersome on the iPhone when it’s hard to dial in where you precisely want the node in the sequencer without accidentally nudging it when you let go of the screen.

Many of the controls don’t fit my iPhone’s screen (14 plus) and get hidden by the front camera’s border.

It’d be a dream if I could just load this app/plugin directly on my MacBook so that recording my experiments into Logic Pro wasn’t as obstructive.

### 3/5 — sound is cool but not worth for own product

*2023-06-15*

yea it sounds cool but now I have two different ruismaker plugs which do the same and pay extra for noir, which has only bass kick capabilities. in this case i am bothered instead you just could offer one ruismaker with all in it thats what i say

### 3/5 — Good sound and nice gui

*2019-10-23*

I love the sound and the nice gui! But why is there no support for AudioShare (i can‘t select Ruismaker Noir in AudioShare).

### 5/5 — Dear Bram

*2024-10-20*

I think I never said it out loud,

But I think I’m in love with you!

Thank you for everything, people like you helps moves forward the world, while there exists myself, an absolute S.Maniac, and suffering from MDD.

BLESSINGS!

### 5/5 — Sound’s Great! Just One Thing Though

*2024-02-25*

…I’m sure there’s a settings button somewhere but it has eluded me

### 5/5 — Similar to Moog DFAM.

*2023-10-04*

I recently picked up a DFAM, so luckily I was introduced to this type of experimental drum synth already. It operates under the same basic idea of rhythmic patterns that are shaped primarily using pitch and velocity levels, but the modulation and filter stages are where the similarities end. You can tweak almost every important value based on the sequencer pitch and velocity levels.

Granted that the DFAM sounds absolutely powerful in its own right and can quickly become chaotic when beginning to use the patch bay, but it is well suited to produce more natural analog drum sounds. The Ruismaker Noir can get super dirty without much effort. Multiple options to provide drive and distortion on the output of the synth using the FM feedback or the other one next to it (bit crusher I think). The only thing it is missing is the modular patch bay, but of course I rather do that on hardware anyways. I wouldn’t be upset at some more modulation routing options in the future, though!

### 5/5 — Great

*2023-05-21*

This is my favorite app since long time. Great sounds and a random function which brings good sounds within few clicks. Keep up the good work!

### 5/5 — Please background audio!!!

*2022-05-12*

Super App!!! But can you please make background audio. It would be helpful if used with other apps at the same time

### 5/5 — Wonderful

*2022-02-28*

DFAM type sounds for less than £10. What’s not to love.

### 5/5 — Hammer

*2022-02-16*

Hammer Hammer Geil!!! Was für ein geiler Sound und geile Beats. Erinnert mich ganz stark an den Moog DFAM. Sehr intuitiv und schnell. Perfekt zum live spielen.

### 5/5 — Rythymic heaven

*2021-12-10*

NOIR is unique and highly versatile. My go to for starting a rythym that has never been heard and easy to pair. Those tones wow!

### 5/5 — I’m stunning

*2021-03-10, version 1.0.8*

Thanks for your incredible work. It’s true I’ve been looking for a drum machine for a long. I’ve found. This instrument is amazing.

### 5/5 — Thank you!

*2021-01-18, version 1.0.8*

Works great now. Awesome app!
