## What is Runner Beasts?

You are not the player. You are the trainer.

RunnerQuest is a pixel-art companion RPG that lives on your wrist. There is no "start workout" button: the app reads your step cadence and works out on its own whether you are standing still, walking, or running — and your buddy does exactly what you are doing. You walk, it strides across the grass. You pick up the pace, so does it.

NO START BUTTON — YOUR DAY IS THE TRAINING
The walk to the station, the trip to the shops, the stairs, and the proper run at the weekend all count. Steps become experience for your buddy, and the same number of steps is worth noticeably more when you take them at a running cadence. Raise your wrist and the reward is already sitting there. You never have to do anything extra for the game.

STAMINA THAT DRAINS — AND COMES BACK
Your buddy has a stamina bar. Both walking and running spend it — running much faster — and there is a daily limit on how much a single day can cost, so being more active is never punished. Stamina comes back through rest: every new day restores some, and how well you slept last night decides how much more. Sleep well and three hearts are waiting for you in the morning, bar full again. Disappear for a few days and your buddy gets weaker — but never down to nothing. It is just waiting for you to come back.

RUNNER BEASTS YOU MEET ALONG THE WAY
Cover enough ground and a wild runner beast falls into step beside you, announced with a tap and a chime so you don't have to watch the screen. Take up its challenge, or keep exploring — turning it down costs you nothing, and it will turn up again later.

If you do accept, all you have to do is hold your speed in the range it likes for long enough. Manage that and it approves of you, and joins your field guide. Run out of time instead? "Let's run together again" — nothing extra is deducted, and you will meet again.

FOUR RUNNER BEASTS AT LAUNCH
· Trekhorn — Endurance. "Just keep walking." Walking alone is enough; the easiest company to keep.
· Restshell — Recovery. "Slowly, together." Only turns up on gentle walks, and accepting its challenge costs no stamina.
· Pacehound — Endurance, advanced. "Match my pace." Won't show itself until you have put in real distance.
· Flashstride — Sprint. "Show me your burst." Only interested in the fifteen seconds you give everything.

FEED IT, PET IT
Tap your buddy while you are standing still to feed it, pet it, or let it rest. The bond you build that day makes the next challenge a little more forgiving.

BUILT FOR A SMALL SCREEN, OUTDOORS
Two pixel palettes — 4-tone and high contrast — so it stays readable in bright sun. Almost every state is expressed graphically: animation, emote bubbles, hearts, pixel bars, with only the numbers that earn their place. A How to Play page in Settings lays out the whole loop on one screen. VoiceOver narration and Reduce Motion are supported, sound and haptics can each be switched off, and the app is fully localised in English, Japanese and Traditional Chinese.

YOUR DATA NEVER LEAVES THE WATCH
This app has no networking code of any kind. No account, no analytics, no ads, no tracking. Health data is turned into game numbers on the device itself — the developer cannot see it, and there is nowhere for it to be sent.

COMPLETELY FREE
No in-app purchases, no subscription, no ads, no in-game currency. Version 1.0 is the whole game.

Motion & Fitness and Health permissions are required. On days with no sleep data your buddy still gets its fixed daily rest; sleep data only decides how much further it recovers — the app will never guess how you slept.
This app runs on Apple Watch only (watchOS 11.0 or later). There is no iPhone screen.
