### 1/5 — Terrible

*2026-07-10*

You have to rate this app every single time you open it or try to use it. It won’t let you cancel within your free trial period and you’ll get charged. It doesn’t k keep one steady beat, instead you have to choose some sort of emphasis beat. I want one beat sound without emphasis on any single one throughout the whole cadence.

### 1/5 — Not worth the price

*2026-06-26*

The price is only $30 but honestly what are you getting for that? It’s tracking my run, but if you’re monitoring your cadence you’re probably already tracking your run in a different way.
I missed the deadline to cancel so I’m disappointed by that. There are also several tiers of subscription available in the App Store that are not shown within the app.

### 3/5 — Disappointed

*2026-06-21*

Disaster, only maybe 3/4 runs get saved and the remaining 1/4 would get corrupted or los t some way or another.

### 1/5 — Not free. Data harvesting and time wasting, no trial

*2026-06-15*

So sick of “free” apps that are not up front about no free trial period. Manipulative waste of human time to make us jump through hoops and then pressing start sends you to payment page.

Sucks. That’s 10 mins I won’t get back. You owe me.

You cant even try this app without signing up. And they are not up front an pi t it.

### 1/5 — deceptive

*2026-06-12*

onboarding asks several unskippable questions to gather user info and then has the gall to immediately ask for payment information

### 4/5 — A solid start bound to improve

*2026-05-04, version 3.8.2*

Edit: Increased a star as the developer is very responsive and issued updates following my review. This has improved things significantly - I love the in-watch metronome toggle since I don’t usually run with my phone. Very excited at the prospect of things like run zones in the watch interface also, which will be wonderful for zone 2 running goals. Thank you!

Original review remains below 😎

=======

The phone app is well designed and easily navigated and I find the whole thing a great addition to my running.

Where I have issues and where I have deducted a star given the cost of the app is in the Runo watch app, since this is central to capturing and showing me data about my run as I go.

It’s great that there is a watch app at all, which does track my runs perfectly, but the app does not show any of the significant widgets found in the native Apple workout app (e.g. those available by default for Outdoor run), particularly things like heart zones, which are important to those paying attention to cadence — and while there is a heart BPM readout, it is so small it’s almost impossible to read while running, even on an Ultra II.

This means I need to use the Runo watch app in metronome only mode while I use the Apple workout app for data. While metronome only mode works on the phone just fine, it is not explicitly available in the settings of the watch app and setting it on the phone doesn’t seem to initiate it on the watch. How do I know? Well, pretty much as soon as I start the native workout app after setting up the Runo watch app, Runo crashes.

It would be amazing if the developer could look into setting up reliable metronome only on the watch, or even better allow some widget customisation so that users can select what key data readouts they want see while using Runo on the watch. With that in place the native Apple workout app won’t even be necessary!

### 5/5 — Cadence training

*2026-04-30, version 3.7.8*

Best app on the AppStore for cadence training.
Trying to improve my cadence from 148/152 up to 165+ and this is helping immensely

### 4/5 — Sound issue

*2026-04-18, version 3.7.2*

Love the app but I noticed recently I’m unable to change my sound cadence from the original sound. Anyone else having this issue?

### 1/5 — Not easy, paid for nothing

*2026-02-21, version 3.5.2*

I write this as a professional designer: It’s hard to navigate, I was charged without realising, I can’t access the features I’m paying for. Regret.

### 4/5 — Now requires location sharing

*2026-01-21*

I bought this app and paid the insanely high subscription cost just to have a metronome in my ear when I run. Great, fine, not happy but I did it. But now they dropped an update and it requires you to share your location with the app to function any more. No way around it. I’m sorry but I don’t want my location shared with some company I don’t know just to hear a metronome. Good luck with your app in the future.

Update: the developer responded and said that they released an update to allow the user to select metronome only mode. I appreciate their response and app update and have since updated my rating. Thank you dev for listening to your users. That is rare in this day and age.

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for the feedback and sorry for the frustration. We completely understand — the metronome should work without requiring extra permissions.

Good news: in our latest update, we added a "Metronome Only" mode that works exactly like the original version. No health or location access needed.

To use it:
  1. Open Options
  2. Look for "Metronome Only" or "Simple Mode" toggle
  3. Enable it

This gives you the pure metronome experience you paid for, without any tracking features.

If you have trouble finding it or run into any issues, please reach out at support@runoapp.com — we're happy to help.

Thanks for your patience, and we hope this resolves your concern!

### 3.8.11 — 2026-08-10

Stability update:

• Fixed a class of rare crashes that could occur mid-run
• Updated the animation engine and core libraries for smoother performance and better memory behavior

### 3.8.10 — 2026-08-09

• Fixed a crash that could occur when starting the metronome

Audio that plays nice
Voice cues no longer interrupt your music — the volume ducks briefly during a cue and comes right back. Spotify, podcasts and audiobooks keep playing.

Apple Watch fixes
GPS now keeps tracking when your wrist is down — no more 20-minute runs recorded as 0.1 miles. And the metronome now mixes with your music and podcasts during tracked watch runs.

Splits you can trust
The splits in your run history now match what the voice announced during the run, down to the second. Average cadence is now calculated from your actual steps and moving time.

### 3.8.8 — 2026-06-22

Now you can see how you rank amongst your runner friends!

Beats per measure
Set how many beats per measure to customize your rhythm. Accent the first beat of each measure for a more natural running cadence.
