### 5/5 — Really useful

*2019-03-13, version 2.8*

Seems like whenever I am trying to lock a show my brain is too fried or distracted for math. This app solves the problem.

### 5/5 — Essential post-production tool

*2018-10-24, version 2.7.1*

I edit a syndicated talk show. This tool is an essential part of our day, keeping all us editors in sync as we work on different acts to get the show to time for air. I’ve recommended it to colleagues on other talk shows too.

### 5/5 — Love it! So helpful!

*2016-06-01, version 2.6*

Really great app. Couldn't live without it!

### 5/5 — What are you waiting for?

*2016-04-12, version 2.6*

Seriously. Buy it. No further explanation needed. I've shown this app to at least 20 people who have then bought it on the spot. You should be next.

### 5/5 — Professional TV Editor's Choice

*2016-04-05, version 2.6*

Extremely helpful for anyone working in post-production television. Especially those who must calculate segment durations and TRT and submit paperwork that match network guidelines.

### 5/5 — Should be a REQUIRED part of an Editor's Toolkit

*2015-07-30, version 2.6*

I've worked as a professional television producer or editor for over 30 years, and producing timing sheets is a very common part of the process. In the past, friends and I have cobbled together Excel spreadsheets that would "kinda-sorta" did the things that Runtime does. Having a dedicated program like Runtime, all I do is simply plug in the network clock's target timings, then as each act is complete, I update the rundown. The email function is an added bonus as it keeps my producer informed on the show's project, and notifies them when I have completed work on a section, with an updated timing. The author of this app (Geoff) also happens to be an editor-- I had a small learning curve issue and he promptly and personally got me back on the right track. As another reviewer posted, best $3 bucks I ever spent. I probably got my investment back on the first day with the time I saved... definitely worth the purchase!!

### 5/5 — Best Show Timer Yet

*2015-06-25, version 2.6*

I've been working in TV for 20 years and have been looking for an app like this. It's a well thought out, functional and useful app. It's simple datra entry and show setup features make it a must have for anyone timing a show or working in Post. Sooo much easier than using a time code calculator. On top of that, the Developer updates the app and implements your suggestions. Best 3 bucks I've ever spent.

### 5/5 — Helpful as always if you don't have to calculate commercial breaks...

*2015-05-12, version 2.5.1*

When I first installed runtime I was on a show where I had to calculate acts and non standard breaks for the commercials, (this was last year) one commercial break would be 2min 15 sec another 3min 02 sec
So I couldn't use Runtime how I wanted. This year, different show I don't have to worry about commercial breaks and use Runtime to confirm show timings. I input the info that's on the slate and watch the show down, referencing my phone with runtime that everything matches up.
It still would be great if Runtime could calculate with nonstandard breaks (feature request)
It would also be great if the Goal time can be put back in the screen info, I believe it was removed in this update. I jump around different projects and it's great to see the goal time under the content time, please put it back when you can!!!
Those two requests said its a very helpful app!!!!!

### 5/5 — Way better than Avid calculator

*2015-03-23, version 2.1*

Great app! Very easy to use and super helpful.

### 5/5 — Almost all I need in an editing app

*2014-07-07, version 2.1*

I can't work without this thing!

### 5/5 — I love this app!

*2014-06-30, version 2.1*

Faster, more efficient than avid tc calculator.

### 5/5 — Brilliant app for tv producers & editors

*2013-10-18, version 2.1*

This is great for tv editors and producers trying to keep track of the edit.

One request - could we have customisable part combination totals - like 'parts 1&2' in a 4 part show. Often there are other requirements to meet than just total duration.

Thanks!

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2013-10-17, version 2.0*

This app is a real time saver!

### 5/5 — Editors Dream App

*2013-09-20, version 2.0*

This is a greatest app!! I have made many a producer happy with it. Plus, it's just simple and fun!! If you're an editor or producer this is a must have!!

### 5/5 — Love the new animation!

*2013-09-13, version 1.3*

When I locked the latest episode of Storage Wars: New York to time this week, I saw the new "lock" animation for the first time. I got a boner. I can't stop thinking about it. So sexy. I know there was life before this app, but I have blocked out that memory. If you are a finishing editor, or work in any bay where episodes lock, you must have this app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Gr8 Tool...

*2013-09-02, version 1.3*

...i feel like a tool for believing the previous reviews! the app hasn't worked once... not once. I have a real need for something like this, on daily basis, but it's not happening with the app. oh and just got the update... yup that crashed as well. it's optimized for something just unclear what that something is

### 2/5 — Not a TC calculator.

*2016-05-07, version 2.6*

This is great for timing out reels or acts. Not for doing time code calculations or conversations.

### 4/5 — Quite a handy thing

*2023-10-20, version 2.9.2*

This is a handy little tool. Simple and targeted.

I would be ... really ... nice if there was also a simple timecode calculator in there as well for simple addition and subraction!

### 4/5 — Great app for Media Production Professionals

*2019-09-25, version 2.8*

This app is great! Haven’t stopped using it on a daily basis since downloading.

There are some missing features I plan to suggest. But even without them, this app is well worth the price.

### 4/5 — Really Useful, Could Use a Paint Job

*2019-08-22, version 2.8*

Great utility. Some stability issues and I hope it gets a nice clean minimalist redesign some day but over all pretty good

### 4/5 — Timey Wimey

*2012-07-31, version 1.0*

I hate keeping track of segment times, or act lengths in relation to a whole. These days if I am allowed to have an asst ed I make them do it. But they just use a widget or an online calculator and then track it on paper. Or worse they try to use the tools in FCP to do it. Which we all know can be a pain/mess/headache.

Happy to have a tool that pretty much takes care of all that. I have a few quibbles but runtime is far and away the best most thought through app of this kind I have used. At $2.00 I might not even charge production back for it.

### 5/5 — Just Works

*2026-07-16, version 2.10*

Been using this for years and now require all of our editors to use it so there is no discrepancy about the TRTs

### 5/5 — Thank you!!!!!

*2026-05-05, version 2.10*

Best tool in the tv industry. I edit because I can’t do math lol this saves me SO much time. Whoever made this is a saint!!!

### 5/5 — The Industry Standard

*2025-10-25, version 2.10*

I have used Runtime for countless years getting every show I lock to time. The ability to cut and paste run times and send them to executives during the process is so beneficial. Visualization of what acts are the longest is crucial. Love this app!!!!

### 5/5 — The best calculator

*2025-07-02, version 2.10*

Great work. Use it on every show!

## Most praised reviews (6 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — A must for every editor

*2023-12-14, version 2.9.2*

I’ve been using this app for years and it is awesome! Totally worth the price

### 5/5 — Good but…

*2023-08-12, version 2.9.2*

Needs update!

Can we get folders? Get organised? I can’t even re-order projects to list in a helpful way. Manual says it’s possible but app does not agree.

Thanks

### 5/5 — LIFESAVER

*2021-06-03, version 2.9.2*

If you work in TV, this app is a MUST-HAVE

### 5/5 — Excellent app!!

*2020-11-28, version 2.9.2*

This is a great app! Very handy for editors and producers. I have one suggestion though. Can you add a feature to include the tv breaks separately? The same way you can choose the number of segments. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Question for creators

*2019-10-13, version 2.8*

This app is great but for shows that have multiple editors working on separate acts would be great if the projects could be shared

### 5/5 — A must have for professional editors

*2019-07-18, version 2.8*

I’m an editor cutting network reality shows and this app allows me to keep an accurate running time of the show and share act breakdowns with a click of a button. Soooo much better that the Avid calculator!
