## What is RunToMax?

Record your runs on Apple Watch for free. RunToMax Pro tells you what to run today, and why.

Every morning, Pro reads your sleep, heart rate variability and recent training, then tells you whether today is for pushing, going easy or recovering. Follow plans and guided sessions on your wrist, with a pace target for every rep.

FREE, WITH NO TIME LIMIT
• Outdoor and treadmill runs on Apple Watch, with one data screen and five fields you choose
• Live pace, distance and auto-laps with the Hero Pace lap banner, music controls and heart-rate chest straps
• Run summaries with your route map, splits and stats, plus history, Apple Health and export
• A cinematic 3D flyover replay of your route, with Apple Maps satellite imagery
• This morning's HRV, resting heart rate and sleep compared with your own usual
• VO₂ max, HRV and resting heart rate trends from Apple Health
• Build a training plan and see its first week, and try a strength session from each category
• Design & share for your runs, with RunToMax branding on every export

TRY THREE COACHED RUNS
If you've never had Pro or a Pro trial, turn on coaching for your next three runs: Today's call, readiness and a guided session on your Watch with a matching route. No subscription starts and there's no deadline. A run counts once it's saved with at least 1 km and five active minutes. AI coaching isn't included.

ACCURACY WE ACTUALLY TEST, ON EVERY RUN
• Live pace you can trust, distance and auto-laps that add up, precision start, and honest behavior through pauses
• Distance, pace and elevation validated run after run against dedicated running watches
• Barometric climb tracking, per-runner calorie modeling, and full-resolution heart rate and cadence
• When the data cannot support a conclusion, RunToMax says so instead of guessing

WITH RUNTOMAX PRO

Built for the wrist
• Fully configurable watch screens: choose your metrics, layouts and button controls, per run type
• Live map with breadcrumb trail, heart-rate zone alerts, audio cues and a target pace for every workout
• Follow a route on your wrist, or pick a distance and let RunToMax suggest a new loop
• Structured sessions on the watch: intervals, tempo, progressions, with live per-rep pace targets and a coach in your ear for every rep, in the voice you choose

Understand every run
• A verdict on the watch the moment you stop, and deep analysis on the phone
• Training impact, effort score, heat cost, weather, and full charts for pace, heart rate, power and cadence
• Race predictions, threshold and training paces, and fitness trends over time

Know when to pull back
• Morning readiness that fuses your recovery signals into one honest number, and Today's call
• Ramp warnings when training load climbs faster than your body can absorb
• Heat-adjusted pacing: what the heat should cost you before the run, and what it actually cost after

Train on a plan
• Training plans built from your real running history: your level, your volume, your race date
• Sensible ramps, cutback weeks, and no back-to-back hard days
• Every week of your plan on your watch, adapting to how you respond
• The full strength library
• AI coaching that turns your data into plain-English guidance, grounded in your actual runs

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3.5 — 2026-10-22

A new light look
RunToMax on iPhone now opens in light. Prefer dark? Choose Light, Dark or System in Settings, Units & language, Appearance. Your Apple Watch keeps its dark look.

A clearer Today
Today opens with a plain-words read of your day, then the numbers behind it: HRV, resting heart rate and sleep against your usual, then your session. If your Apple Watch is paired but RunToMax isn't on it yet, Today starts with the steps to install it. Running without a plan? Your weekly recap now shows on Today. After a run, Today stays short: your run, the coach's read and a share button.

Trends answers first
Trends opens with your week in review and how your fitness is moving, then metric tiles you can swipe. Dashboard moved here from the Watch tab. Aerobic efficiency no longer waits on a card of its own: when there is enough data, it joins your fitness summary (Pro).

Race pacing (Pro)
Set a goal time and RunToMax builds a pace band: a target for every kilometre or mile, with an even, negative or positive split. Add the course from a saved route, a past run or the race's GPX file, and the targets follow the hills: more time on the climbs, less on the descents, still adding up to your goal. On your Apple Watch, the race screen shows this split's target pace, whether you're on pace, ahead or behind, and what you need to finish on time. A banner and a voice line mark each split, and after the race you see every split against its target.

Redesigned screens
Routes shows a map, distance, climb and a grade-coloured profile for each route, with Plan a race. Race leads with your goal, what your fitness predicts and the races you've run. Best Efforts shows your records, how they progressed and your next milestone. Dashboard has a chart in every tile. On the watch, the route screen keeps the map under the clock and shows the course ahead.

Long runs in the 3D flyover
Long runs get a dot for every split on the route, a live split table as the replay plays, and an opening view of the whole course.

Plans, easier to read
Each suggested change opens with one line; the reasoning sits under Why? Plan controls start folded away, and the plan check-in asks one question: how hard it felt. Preview on Today opens tomorrow's session.

Halloween on your wrist (Pro)
A Halloween run screen and five Halloween lap cards, with bats, a ghost and slime. Pick your favourite cards or shuffle them every lap.

Smaller changes and fixes
Tap the tab you're on to go back to its first page. Settings has a Talk to the developer card. The three coached runs say the rule before you start: at least 1 km and five active minutes. Taper hides while a plan is active, since the plan handles it, and without a plan its distances now fit your own running. Correct a treadmill run's distance from History on the watch or from Settings on iPhone, and Apple Health, splits and exports follow. FIT and GPX exports draw your route more accurately, and GPX leaves out points recorded during a pause. Lap numbers and the coach's lines respect miles. Fewer AI coaching reads go missing: the check that compares each read with your data no longer rejects correct ones. Trends, Plan and switching tabs are smoother.

### 1.3.4 — 2026-10-17

What's New — English

Fixed, thanks to your feedback
Sleep in Trends now matches Today: a night is no longer split at midnight, and a night you entered by hand shows in Trends too. Plan days now follow the real calendar, so a Tuesday run is marked on Tuesday, and a plan started on a Sunday no longer begins the following Monday. If you run in miles, distances and paces now respect that throughout the app: plans, run details, Home, Trends, History, Settings, notifications and widgets, including the threshold pace you type in. Today keeps your readiness when you return to the tab.

Easy runs stay easy
An easy run from Today's call or a plan day now runs on the watch without a pace target: the suggested pace stays on iPhone as a guide, and the watch no longer tells you to pick it up or ease off on an easy run.

One Today card on the watch
Home on the watch shows a single Today card: your plan day with the coach's check (as planned, lighter option or not checked), or Today's call if you have no plan. After a run on either device it reads Done, and the plan screen has a Check now button.

Paste a coach's message as written
Import now reads coach prose: "Six 3-minute efforts with 90 seconds easy between" or "twenty-five minutes easy" become the right steps. If a breakdown looks wrong, tap Not right? Try a smart read (Pro).

Apple Watch setup, step by step
A new setup screen tells you exactly where you are: no Watch paired, app not installed yet, app installed but not opened, or connected, with a retry button and instructions for each. Watch Screens changes now save and sync on their own; the Send to Watch button is gone, and a Sync button sits in the toolbar if you ever need it.

Treadmill distance reaches Apple Health
When you enter the belt distance after a treadmill run, Apple Health now gets the corrected distance too, on the same workout, with your heart rate and other samples untouched.

Coaching to power as well as pace (Pro)
If you run with a Stryd pod, pair it on the watch (Settings, Sensors, Stryd Foot Pod) and set a power target on any run setup, on iPhone or on the watch, in watts or as a percentage of your threshold power. The session builder takes power on the warm-up, every rep and recovery, and the cool-down. During a session, the interval display on your wrist shows your 5-second power against each step's target and tells you PUSH ON, EASE OFF or ON POWER. On any run, add the Power vs target field to a screen. Spoken cues and wrist taps switch on separately. After the run, see your average power against the target for every rep. Enter your threshold power on iPhone, in Trends or Settings, or on the watch under Workout, Your numbers, or confirm RunToMax's own estimate with one tap. A percentage target with no confirmed threshold no longer blocks the run: it starts with power guidance off and the watch says why. Power comes from your pod only; without one, nothing changes.

AI coaching, your choice
AI coaching is off until you turn it on. When that is the only thing missing, Today shows a Turn on AI button and says the read was written on your iPhone, the smart read asks first, and after you go Pro the app asks once.

Smaller changes
Watch Settings keep every target under Workout, Targets, with one short line per row. The Watch Screens editor groups its metric fields into menus. Big numbers on the Track Lap and Equal grid run faces are one weight lighter and easier to read. Settings has a Join r/RunToMax link under About & help, and the run page shows it once. Standing still with a pod reads Resting.

### 1.3.3 — 2026-10-12

Share your run, your way
Tap Design & share on any run and swipe through five new looks: Route poster, Big number, The long run, Run club and Field report. Put a photo from your run on the card, or one of eight built-in views. Route poster and Run club move, and can go out as a short video. Customise turns any line on or off, adds your own caption, or a line on what the run proved, like your longest run since June. Send it straight to Instagram Stories, or to any app from the share sheet. RunToMax asks for Photos access only when you tap Photos from this run, and never uploads your photos.

Share your week
From Weekly pulse on Today, share a card of your week: daily bars, distance, runs and time, the change from last week, your streak and your longest run.

Settings, reorganized
Settings now opens on nine groups, each showing its current state, with a search field to find any setting.

Clearer Apple Health access
Today's readiness ring now says what it's missing, with a button to allow Health access or open the Health app. If Health access is off, Settings and Permissions say so. If your run maps come back empty, the Runs page tells you to turn on Workout Routes.

Coach cues and pre-run brief (Pro)
Distance splits now keep counting through every step of a structured session. The cue at the end of each recovery is back, even when you end the recovery yourself, and long announcements play to the end. The pre-run brief keeps its pace advice inside the session's planned range.

Fixes
The free Watch screen has a Reset to default fields button on the Watch Screens page. Smaller fixes throughout.

### 1.3.2 — 2026-10-10

A coach in your ear (Pro)
During structured sessions, RunToMax talks you through every rep: a heads-up before it starts, a 3-2-1 countdown, how the rep went against its target, and split trends on steady runs. Turn Coach cues on or off in Audio Coach.

Choose your coach's voice (Pro)
Pick one of Apple's built-in voices for each language, and preview it with a real cue.

3D flyover, now free
Replay any run in 3D, now for everyone. New Realistic mode shows your route over Apple Maps satellite imagery, with a bigger animated runner and split banners in step with your distance. Realistic plays in the app; choose None or Terrain to export a video.

Fixes
Today's readiness no longer stays stuck loading after you answer the plan check-in. FIT exports of runs with pauses now have their splits in the right place; re-export any run that looked stretched. Smaller fixes throughout.

### 1.3.1 — 2026-10-06

Free to record
Outdoor and treadmill runs on Apple Watch are now free, with no time limit: one data screen with five fields you choose, music controls, heart-rate chest straps, history, Apple Health and export. Runs you've already recorded keep their full analysis.

Try three coached runs
Haven't tried Pro yet? Turn on coaching for your next three runs: Today's call and a guided session on your Watch, with a matching route. No subscription starts, and there's no deadline.

Free on iPhone too
Today compares this morning's HRV, resting heart rate and sleep with your usual. Follow your VO₂ max and heart trends from Apple Health, build a plan and see its first week, try a strength session from each category, and share your runs with Design & share.

Watch screens by run type
Set up screens for Outdoor, Treadmill, Intervals, Sessions, Track and Race, in the same order as on your Watch.

Routes and sessions
With Pro, routes now match your session's distance and structure and go to your Watch with it. Filter the Session Library by 5K, 10K, half or marathon.

Fixes and feedback
Smoother Watch setup and smaller fixes. Tell us what you think in Settings > Send feedback.
