A subscription seems reasonable, but the credits it provides disappear almost instantly. Every single edit, no matter how minor, requires more credits, forcing you into constant in-app purchases. It's incredibly frustrating. What's worse, the AI often misses the mark. Even when you try to correct it, they've already deducted credits for the botched attempt. They acknowledge their errors but refuse to restore the wasted credits. I've spent far more than the initial subscription fee and feel completely ripped off. Imagine having to pay $15+ a month and then additional money ($10 minimum) to fix the many, many mistakes that it makes. It has a chat feature which you would think would make it foolproof because to get to discuss everything with software to get all the details just right and then it makes mistakes over and over again. It’s honestly so bad that I believe that it does it on purpose just to get you to pony up more dough. And guess what? After my first try, the app told me I didn’t have enough credits and that I had to buy more credits to keep using it. Basically, you don’t pay for the app and get full access to everything. You pay for the subscription, but it only gives you a small amount of credits to use the tools. After trying them once, you can lose your credits and then have to pay again just to continue using the app. I didn’t even have time to make one proper video before running out of credits. Worse, the model generated something I explicitly told it not to include, acknowledged that it had made the mistake, and then required more credits to regenerate and correct its own error. The smallest credit package offered to me was another $10. When I asked for a refund, the in-app assistant couldn’t process one and simply directed me elsewhere. Paying for a subscription, then paying again for usage, then potentially paying again to correct failed generations is an extremely frustrating experience. I purchased Runway specifically to create AI video content, then purchased an additional 1,000 credits thinking that would finally give me enough to complete one project. Instead, credits disappeared incredibly quickly while the actual video results were poor, unrealistic, and often unusable. Simple requests produced distorted or awkward footage, and the process repeatedly pushed me toward spending even more credits just to try again. What makes this especially frustrating is that you can spend a significant amount of money without ending up with a single usable finished video. Even basic experimentation becomes expensive because every bad generation costs you, regardless of the quality of the result. The concept behind Runway is great, but my experience did not come remotely close to justifying the cost. I expected a premium creative tool; instead I spent money, purchased additional credits, wasted an enormous amount of time troubleshooting, and still couldn’t complete one relatively simple social media video. I really want all my money back. They can take these videos and ungenerate them. I can't use one continuous video. Edits and changes are needed every couple of seconds. I attempted to create an AI-generated trailer, but the software repeatedly made mistakes. After asking the AI to correct those errors, all 2,200 of my credits were quickly depleted. I was dissatisfied with the service, so I canceled it. However, on August 31, 2026, I discovered an unexpected charge of $358.18 on my credit card—a purchase I did not knowingly authorize. I am extremely upset and disappointed. Pricing, credit usage, renewals, and additional charges should be disclosed clearly before a customer is billed. Charging a customer such a large amount without clear authorization is unacceptable. I am requesting a full refund of the $358.18 charge and written confirmation that my account and subscription have been canceled. Worst AI product I’ve tried. Don’t plan on using this for anything other than its prepackaged element AI slop. For custom work it gets you 80% there on the first pass, then begins to introduce regressions and other errors. It will then charge you to fix its errors. Cannot provide correctly formatted and spelled words and “I’ll fix it this time” consumed a large number of credits. Then it generated exactly the same errors over and over again. The final straw was arguing with me that I did not provide an audio file that was not only visible in the transcription and listed in assets, and that the agent confirmed would be added to the video being produced - before it said “I don’t have any audio”. Amazingly, stunningly bad. I can get better results out of a $20/mo ChatGPT subscription. Finally abandoned the effort after well over $100 spent. After the “I don’t have the audio” there was comment as the clips were being stitched together , “oh, I need to regenerate (more cost) 14 of 16 clips because of continuity errors.” ### 1/5 — Waste of money.
