### 4/5 — Awesome

*2018-10-12, version 3.7.3*

Awesome app except GPS limitation.

### 5/5 — Easy and accurate

*2017-07-12*

Used for a few years and is now indispensable. Continual upgrades keeps it at the forefront of vfr gps navigation.
Added extras like the ordinance survey maps are great for identifying landmarks. Pooleys plates are also well worth having. Support is also excellent - real people answer the phone and always try and help.

### 5/5 — Nothing better really!

*2017-06-28*

Functional, easy to use, affordable .... and the support which is probably more important, is second-to-none. Helpful and quick to respond to queries. Highly recommended for both professional and private pilots. Brilliant flight planning aid.

### 5/5 — Matt

*2017-06-27*

I have been using this for three years now and cannot rate it highly enough. Simple to use and gives me all the SA I need. The planning feature of overlaying Pooleys onto the map I find especially useful, especially on larger airfields that have many exits and taxiways. The overall planning for a longer journey enables diverting around avoids or complicated airspace with a simple grab and swipe with a finger.
Top dollar.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2017-06-12*

I use this on a daily basis for instructing. The use of CAA half mil. and quarter mil. charts allows for seamless transition from paper chart to GPS, greatly aiding in the integration of GPS as a backup to dead reckoning. Initial planning using tap and drag of track is a great feature, allowing the pilot to consider various route options easily. Logged flights allows the pilot to review his track made good once back on the ground, and is a great teaching (and learning) aid. Tapping on an aerodrome to view Pooley's airfield plates is very useful. Filing flight plans is simple and free; once you have planned your route on the app and set up the details for your aircraft (you can have multiple ones), filing a plan takes just a couple of minutes, so long as you have access to wifi or a good phone signal. NOTAM which give a series of lat/long references, such as Red Arrows routes, are now plotted and displayed in the NOTAM display. Overall, this is a great app I highly recommend.

### 5/5 — FBM

*2013-08-11, version 2.0.2*

Excellent and five stars application......

### 5/5 — Runway HD with South Africa maps

*2012-12-23, version 1.5.0*

Very expensive app, but awesome for VFR flying. What I like is all the maps are downloaded so no internet connection is required. Well done to the developers for creating a brilliant program!

Once bought, the program use is only valid for 1 year before a renewal is due, but renewal costs are about a 1/3 of the initial program cost. Still expensive, but much cheaper than an aviation type GPS.

### 1/5 — Terrible Record for Updates with bugs

*2024-07-08*

The software is reasonably reliable but their updates are terrible for introducing new bugs and then they have to work backwards to fix them. Recently their software needs completely uninstalled manually and then reinstalled which requires to upload all of your extra packs again….extremely time consuming and annoying.

### 1/5 — Un-usable if Sky Echo disconnects

*2022-03-28*

If the Sky Echo disconnects the app has a repeated pop-up that has to be acknowledged. This renders the app useless for its PRIMARY function of navigation until you’ve been “heads in” and navigated the menu system to turn it off. This is UNSAFE.

Yes to a red status bar or even screen surround but nothing that stops you seeing and using the map. So frustrating that it hasn’t been fixed in the latest update despite it being a new “feature” of the last update.

### 1/5 — Notams

*2017-08-20*

I have been using the software for the best part of 4 years and it has some great features BUT the software has a lot of bugs and even when reported to customer service often they don't get addressed. An example is an issue I encountered using the software on my iPad is the "download Notams" where Notams don't get download (the software seems to have a timeout of some sort so if you have slow internet you have a problem). Also the software get updated very infrequently (for example compared to other similar Apps) and again general bug fixing is poor.

### 1/5 — Unsafe nav data

*2015-11-17, version 3.3.0*

While I like the general touch and feel as well as the design concept of the app, it turns out that the nav data supplied through the subscriptions is partly outdated. However, for safe flying current nav data is a must.

I have repeatedly brought the issue to the attention of the support team that has neither been able to provide current data nor refund the $200+ subscription.

Disappointing and dangerous!

### 1/5 — Pricey

*2012-08-06*

Three times more expensive than Ozrunways. Certainly not three times better.

### 2/5 — No longer just right

*2018-12-14*

I use this most days and it's excellent. The only proviso is tablet rather than app related in that you should assume having an occasional device heat shut down even in the UK.

Updated from 5 to 2 stars - there is a consistent new long term problem with NOTAMs, one of the most useful and in practise critical features, in that they appear to update but do not do so reliably. The date needs to be checked.

The help desk advice to clear the system cache and restart appears to make little difference (or clear the cache). The suggestions that it’s down to connection speed or a particular personal device are disingenuous - I’m using multiple devices and multiple connections and flying several times every week and the experience is the same across all.

Bugs happen, they just need fixing. Whatever the small print, not to mention the issue on the website or deal with something as useful (and potentially serious) in a timely fashion is disappointing.

This working again - it would be back to being incredibly useful and by far the best of the excellent alternatives.

### 2/5 — Runway HD

*2018-05-11, version 3.7.2*

The app is user friendly and it’s very quick to layout a route make deviations for restricted airspace.

The maps for Southern Africa are poor BOTSWANA in particular, the Ipad gps fails from time to time. I find the app has to be activated with cell phone reception in order for the iPad GPS to kick in when cell signal is lost

### 2/5 — Not accurate

*2012-08-25*

Looking at info on my local airfields, some of the radio freq
Are incorrect. OzRunways is the better by a long shot.

### 4/5 — Almost perfect

*2022-01-29*

I love using this app. It seems to be the most well designed aviation app, especially with the range of different charts, including os maps for the UK. BUT, I wish there was a way to edit the route briefing so I could set different altitudes for different legs - I know I can use the virtual radar to add waypoints and drag them up and down but this feels clumsy. I would also love to be able to add extra frequencies to the route briefing. Overall this app works great, and would certainly be worth 5 stars if you could only edit route briefing.

### 4/5 — Great! but app sometimes crashes when doing Aerobatics

*2019-09-03*

Brilliant! Expensive nav aids are things of the past. Sell all that old junk and lighten up your plane. Just use an iPad mini with RunwayHD! It's all you'll ever need.
It doesn’t seem to like going upside down or pulling hard Gs tho and often crashes to the desktop. Maybe something to do with the gyro in the iPad?

### 5/5 — Historic Army Aircraft Flight & RunwayHD

*2022-11-23*

I’ve had the privilege of using RunwayHD for the last few years whilst displaying with the Historic Helicopters and the RAF Chinook Force. This navigation system is very user friendly and easy to use allowing me to dedicate the majority of my capacity to looking outside the cockpit and flying safely rather than navigating. With many additional applications it helps me plan successfully and brief my team clearly before flying. I cannot recommend this product highly enough. A must for all aircrew, professional and private alike.

### 5/5 — Runway HD

*2021-07-23*

I like RunwayHD a lot but it currently does not download weather as it used to. This limits its functionality to an extent. However still a great flying APP to have on your phone as a backup.

### 5/5 — Most intuitive aviation navigation app

*2019-01-04*

Very intuitive to use... having a choice of maps to download means that I can use the map style I like, including seamlessly transferring from paper to electronic. I also find Runway HD more user friendly than other Apps... for example, the ability to review then hide irrelevant NOTAMs means only applicable information remains in view for Pre-flight briefs and while airborne.

### 5/5 — RunwayHD

*2018-12-05*

Work for a helicopter training and charter company. We use RHD on a daily basis in the planning and execution of flights. It is very easy to use especially when compared to the legacy gps found in most aircraft. The use of CAA charts supports the training process and being able to use it on more than one device speeds planning. Would not hesitate to recommend it. Dont forget though you should always have a plan B!

### 5/5 — RunwayHD Fantastic

*2018-11-17*

What a superb system, brilliant it uses Official Charts, which help navigation if a flat battery or IPad crash happens. It flows and two many functions for me to describe. Have used it in planning and flying trips all around the UK, but makes my French forays so easy and comfortable. Any hiccups I have had have been answered promptly and queries dealt with almost immediately, what more can one ask for rate it 10 out of 10

### 5/5 — Teaching

*2018-10-28*

I use this mainly for teaching students in the training school.
Very good especially with representation of charts and airspace.
Ease of use changing routes and then looking at profiles and logged flights for looking at errors on heading holds, track crawls, os runs. I am old school drawing lines on charts and making sure accuracy is key. Makes briefings easier and errors acknowledged more by the student.
This is from Rotary training PPL’s and CPL’s
Well worth it. As a school we can offer discounts on packages obtained.

### 5/5 — Captain

*2018-10-21*

Just awesome.. This app has helped traverse the Pyrenees, bimble through the Alps and distracted me over dinner. What more could you want? Packed with features and void of gimmicks Runway HD has kept my workload and stress down to enjoyable levels even whilst navigating the most congested airspace. Room is a premium in my aircraft so I tend to plan the flight/check notams/weather on my iPad then inflight I navigate with the iPhone.

### 5/5 — Awesome App

*2018-04-24*

This App is the best I have used. Flight Planning is so quick and simple, the information en-route giving me everything I need. Flying with it gives me confidence that I know I won't get into trouble! Five Stars plus!

### 5/5 — In your pocket

*2017-10-19*

I really like this. It’s great knowing that I have a reliable GPS and moving map in my pocket when flying, especially in wave if cloud rolls in beneath. The airspace warnings work well and have stopped me from ‘breaking and entering’ a couple of times when focused on finding lift while near an airway. i like the info displayed when you tap a location, though I would like to see the airspace info in a bigger font, easier to see at a quick glance in a bright cockpit, and less need to scroll the info page. Love the cross fade into the OS map on zoom. I can use it when walking too or if I land out in my glider. It’s a bit costly on map subscriptions, still I would not want to delete it. I would like live track with colour coded height gain and loss for thermaling and wave. A good piece of kit overall

### 5/5 — Great Nav App

*2017-08-20*

I've been using this for a while and it's good. The use of the icao naps rather than a self derived map is good as it easy to related to the paper charts.

I also like the ability to add foreign charts making flight planning for trips across the channel a lot easier as they integrate into the UK charts.
