### 4/5 — AcellaStudy

*2012-07-11, version 2.3.0*

Very good for learning enough to get by. Learning the Russian, the Turkish in the same series really helped. It's very helpful for the pronunciation and associating words with the alphabet.

### 4/5 — It's okay

*2012-01-31, version 2.1.0*

It is a good app but could use grammar lessons and emotion/describing words

### 2/5 — Ok

*2011-11-15, version 2.0.1*

It has lots of words, but there's 1 problem..... I CAN'T READ RUSSIAN WRITING!!!!!!!!!!!

### 4/5 — Great App!

*2011-11-15, version 2.0.1*

This goes well while watching tv, or lying around. Great compliment to Rosetta Stone and best app I've found so far.
Would of given it, 5 stars if you could add learning packs to it.

### 4/5 — Nice program, easy to use

*2011-08-28, version 2.0.1*

Well thought out study course with several learning options.

### 3/5 — Last update

*2011-06-26, version 2.0.0*

It won't work since the last update. I had really liked this too and the built in translator was helpful. Please fix the bugs. Giving it a three because it used to work beautifully.

### 2/5 — Won't work

*2011-06-21, version 2.0.0*

As soon as i open the app it closes after 3-5 seconds. I tried reseting, hard reseting, syncing and redownloading the app but nothing works. I believe the problem is the app itself. So if you want a working app don't get this.

### 4/5 — Good app

*2011-03-30, version 1.9.0*

I work with Russians all day long so I know the language. I want to build on what I know. This app is right on as far as the accent and pronunciation is concerned. It would be better if it also included the phonetic spelling i.e. thank you is pronounced spa-see-ba.

### 2/5 — It's interesting

*2011-02-22, version 1.9.0*

Okay as a secondary learning mechanism... But trying the free version has convinced me not to rush and buy the paid version.

There is a lot of competition out there. Needs to improve the delivery mechanism or it's not going to survive.

### 2/5 — Too obscure

*2010-12-22, version 1.9.0*

While there are some good things about this app, it focusses too heavily on nouns to the detriment of other types of words, and often the nouns are quite obscure. How likely you are to need the word for "clarinet" on a trip to Moscow is anyone's guess.

### 2/5 — Too random

*2010-09-16, version 0*

For an app entitled russian essentials, it doesnt seem to teach many. Plenty of words, but hello, goodbye and a lot others generally seen as essential are absent

### 5/5 — More words?

*2010-09-11, version 0*

There should be more categories, or at least when u type in an English word and translate it to Russian, it should say it in audio too, that would be awesome

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Time waster.

*2013-06-28, version 2.6.0*

Useless app, 132 words only a dozen or so you'll actually require.

### 1/5 — Really bad

*2012-04-12, version 2.1.0*

Seems that the good reviews probably written by the developer....or sympathetic friends.
The app is badly designed...shouldn't have been released until the problems worked out

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2012-03-21, version 2.1.0*

Absolutely horrible.

### 1/5 — Not a serious study aid

*2012-02-04, version 2.1.0*

I think this would only be interesting to someone who has done a bit of study already and would like to check his/her basic vocabulary against the dictionary in this app - and even for that purpose, i would recommend looking for a different app. This app is really just a collection of words each with a single translation, an audio for pronunciation and a few options that are more or less variations on the flash card approach. They are not grouped into topics (e.g. Ordering in a restaurant, at the airport, meeting someone, asking for directions) and they are not arranged into lessons of increasing difficulty. There are no examples of how they are used, they are given only in the nominative case, the letter ё is written only as е, and more. If the paid-for version removes all of these limitations then the free app does a bad job of encouraging you to upgrade because there are no hints of a better tool in this version. The marketing blurb says "award-winning": I seriously doubt any awards were given to this actual app.

### 1/5 — Eh.

*2012-01-17, version 2.1.0*

I would suggest not getting this app, it could be a lot better. This is in the words of university student.

### 1/5 — no good for me

*2011-07-06, version 2.0.1*

no tomany word

### 1/5 — Ditto

*2011-06-26, version 2.0.0*

Just downloaded this; a screen saying AccelaStudy appears for a few seconds then it goes right back to my iPhone screen! App won't open. Good thing this was free. How about fixing it so it actually runs?

### 1/5 — Translator

*2011-06-21, version 2.0.0*

I don't know why they removed the translator in the last update. That translator is crucial to my study of Russian. Now what am I supposed to do for the thousands of words that are not on a flashcard. And I don't need audio for the translator, I can read.

### 1/5 — Audio

*2009-09-23, version 0*

Audio does not work

### 1/5 — Where's the sound?

*2009-05-12, version 0*

I've tried three different languages from this program and the audio doesn't work. That needs to be fixed.

### 5/5 — Wow

*2012-07-29, version 2.3.0*

This app is impressive, and I have to say the spaced repetition feature is FANTASTIC. I haven't yet found a faster way to memorize words. :) It's well worth trying and (as long as you understand Russian lettering) I promise you won't be disappointed. Now excuse me while I go ahead and buy the full version! :D

### 5/5 — Cool app

*2011-05-18, version 1.9.0*

### 5/5 — This is how you write "hi"in russian

*2011-05-02, version 1.9.0*

Привет

### 5/5 — An excellent app.

*2010-12-17, version 1.9.0*

I use it everyday, same with the other ones. Useful for beginners like me trying to learn Russian. Same with the other languages. I am trying to learn both German and Russian but doing one at a time. Also, an audio player should be added in the translation section too so people know how to pronounce the words they translate as well; not just for this, but for every other one too unless it is in the to buy version app. Other than that, this, and every other language apps are pretty good.
