The Ruter app gives you full mobility in Oslo and Akershus. Find all departures and get around with public transport such as trams, metro, buses and ferries. Select your preferred modes of transport, find the best routes and buy your tickets – all in one app.

Modern travel should be tap in, tap out - like in London. Apps like this are obsolete and make travel cumbersome, especially with guests from abroad. So I take Uber instead

If you don’t have a Norway phone number, you can’t register. End of story

**Developer response:** Hi! We understand the frustration. You should still be able to travel without creating a personal Ruter profile, but some profile features require SMS verification. If you don’t receive the code on a non-Norwegian number, you can still buy tickets in the Ruter app without logging in, or use other official ticket channels such as Entur or Vy. Really should be able to work with a US phone number and US bank card. But it does not. Frustrating. And tickets cannot be purchased at the stations. Use Uber or Lyft instead. Really disappointing.

I was not able to create an account on this app since I have a US number (the app errors and forces you to use it anonymously). Then, at some point I turned off my phone and somehow all of my tickets disappeared when I turned it back on. Now there is no way for me to get my tickets back and customer service was very unhelpful and offered no alternative methods for me to get a new reduced price ticket or recover my existing tickets. Would not recommend.

**Developer response:** We're sorry for the issues you encountered with the app especially with the disappearance of your tickets after restarting your phone. Unfortunately, if the app is used anonymously, there is no way for us to recover tickets once they're lost, and we understand how frustrating that must be.

While we currently don’t have a solution for recovering tickets in these cases, we recommend using other options going forward. Tickets can be purchased physically at the station or through the Vy and EnTur apps, which offer the same types of tickets.
