## What is RV Companion?

RV Companion makes it simple and fun for Recreational Vehicle and Pop-Up camper enthusiasts to track all of their RV and camping information in one easy-to-use app.  The RV Companion application tracks supplies, campground and site information, reservation contact details, RV information, tow vehicle information, maintenance records, procedures (winterizing, starting the water heater, etc.), and trip logs for each campground.  Special utility features include a camper leveling mode with yellow bubble levels.

Major Features include:

TO DO: Quickly enter needed supplies as you think of them or run out of them while camping.  Also track to do items for the camper, like stuff to fix.  Entries are grouped by categories and a quick check-off list for easy shopping is provided.  A great tool to keep all of your RV related info in one place between trips.  Never loose that supply list again or leave it in the camper!

TRIPS: Plan, track and review all of your trips, whether to a great new campsite, to the maintenance shop, or convenience store.  Organize and display new and existing Trip Logs.  Each Trip tracks departure and destination time and location, a 5-star rating, notes, and one-way or round-trip.  The Map view displays the path of your trip based on the associated Trip Logs.  You can even select a custom color for Trip Log pins and path overlay in the Map view.

TRIP LOG:  Keep a record of visits to campgrounds and record information like fishing catches, friends that you meet, attractions that were visited and nearby restaurants.  Flag important entries for quick retrieval later.  Entries are grouped by campground or campground type.  A great way to keep a history of your RV experiences.

CAMPGROUNDS: Record campground information like services, near-by attractions, and contact information.  Link contacts to your address book.  Rate campgrounds from 0 to 5 stars for future reference and sorting.  Track specific camp sites that have been visited and track potential sites for future visits.  Sites can be rated as well.  View and enter trip log information for each visit to the campground for future reference.

RV INFO:  Keep important RV information in one easy to find place.  Record data like specifications, registration numbers, inspection expiration date, camper length (great for site registration), dealer contacts, service center info, insurance info, replacement tire type, etc.  Also track information for a tow or pull-behind vehicle.  Track scheduled and past RV maintenance and even generate an emailable report.

PROCEDURES:  Keep all procedure lists in one place like winterizing the camper, last minute items to check before leaving the house, etc.  Never have to track down a camper manual again by creating procedures in the RV Companion.

LEVELER:  A built in bubble leveler will help you level out an RV by estimating the thickness of spacers to place under the tires.  Note: The Leveler requires a one-time calibration.

This a great app to keep up with any and all things related to your RV.
There is one improvement that need to be made and that is when you open the app that it doesn’t open to the options page but opens to the to do page or rv info page

I have had this App for a few years now. It wants to be like RV Life or AllStays apps, but has so many beta-style, analog features that it’s definitely not even close. I am still not sure what the purpose is of this app? It doesn’t do anything smoothly and doesn’t fill any needs that other, better quality, apps aren’t already doing well. 

The aforementioned apps have WAY better RV specific GPS, allow you to search campgrounds, rest stops, campground reviews, gas stations, Points Of Interests, and web links to campgrounds across the US & Canada. They are regularly updated and have excellent trip planning. They also let you upload cost per night and your own reviews and photos of the campgrounds to let other RV-ers get your opinions on your stays. Get RV Life or AllStays, even their free versions are more functional than this app. 

This app has a flashlight function, which we all already have on our cell phones and a level, which is gimmicky, since most RV owners will invest in a real level. It does store your RV info and Packing lists, but so do the other apps. There’s really no reason or purpose for this app, which is why it has under 40 reviews after 12 years.

I’m using this app primarily as a way to store my campground reviews.  It works perfectly! I can visit the same camp ground but different site with ease.  The to do list is a big help as well as I set up my new rv with a lot to do to be ready for this year's (2021) camping season.

When I found this app I was a little weary of purchasing outright but glad I did.  However, after using and trying to share with my wife and son to help with the todos. THIS APP needs to be updated to uses syncing technology and possibly working with other apps like RVParky.  I like to keep up with stuff in my camper, the procedures tab is the best after you have set up but also for camp grounds you have visited som redundancy but overall great app and a quite handy tool it just needs to be updated. 

This is why it gets a three star rating.

Easy to use and log all of trips with all the relevant information such as site, dates,  distance traveled ect. Plus added bonuses like leveler and flashlight. Nice job!

I just started using a little over a week ago and must say I am impressed so far. I started with the free version and give that one 5 stars. The pay version I am knocking down a star, because I am not sure you really get that much more and at $6.99 it’s a little steep for an app. 

Before getting started, It’s important to know that there is no account to setup and your camp information is not shared to the company, everything is local to your phone and the app offers easy backup to drop box and export feature to other cloud services. That is a good point and a bad point. Because it makes it so you can’t share between spouses . You can export and import, but you could only update on one phone. It would be nice if you could keep database on cloud and sync updates between two phones. At least at this point my understanding is it cannot be done, maybe I am wrong. If not hopefully future update.

Onto the features, lets talk about the app free or paid. I was looking for something to log my trips with and was surprised when I did not find much tailored towards camping, actually this was the only one. What I like in this customized camping trip planner is the ability to not only rate campgrounds but also campsites. You can write down the number , add some pictures and comments about the site. This is particularly great for areas you repeat. I have tried writing down sites, but I always lose the paper lol. You of course can also scout out sites and add them.

Next it let’s you plan a multi stop camping adventure and add each campground, it let’s you see this in list form or map. The map is ok, but does a straight line approach and does not follow highways. We stayed at Deception Pass and from Vancouver the map line puts us through the water. So it is ok , not great and can be improved upon. After our adventures I usually add all the sites to google maps and take a screen shot, be nice if this apps was a little more accurate.

It also has check lists, which are easy to create and use. You can even print them out. In our case because you cannot share the database we have to print them, so both of us can tick things off. I also Ike that you can track maintenance. Let’s you know when you last picked bearings or sealed the trailer. I am getting old and the mind is not what it use to be.

Now onto pay version, you get rid of the ads, which didn’t bother me to much, you get to post to Facebook and leveller works on your Apple Watch. I do have watch, but have not tried leveller yet, who knows that may make it amazing.

I primarily upgraded to post to Facebook.  At first attempted a little disappointed all it appears to do is move your pictures that you added to the app to your Facebook , the text does not go. So saves me very little time. Maybe I will start to love as we take our first trip in a couple weeks.

Is the paid version worth it , hard to say at this point because they give you most of the app in the free version . For this reason they should knock the price down. But I do say start with the free and if you like consider buying to support the developer, get the few extras and hopefully they continue to make the app better.

As requested by users, we've added a new Trips module to track trips to anywhere, not just specific campgrounds.  The new Trips module features the ability to display all trips in a list or map view and to filter displayed trips by rating, date, or trip type. The map view can display the path of each trip based on the locations of associated Trip Logs.  Individual trips track the trip type, 5-star rating, departure and destination information, one-way or round-trip, general notes, and a color setting for the Pin and Path appearance on the map view.  In the map view, the selected trip path is highlighted and other trip paths are faded slightly to make the selected trip easier to see.  We’ve also made it super easy to add existing trip logs when creating a trip so you can better organize your past trips.  

We also made numerous other smaller bug fixes and updates based on user feedback.
