The former app Winegard was clearly better. ### 1/5 — Can not easily switch sources *2024-06-17* The app doesn't allow one to go to advanced settings if the unit cannot find the internet. Frustrating and totally unnecessary. We should be able to access no matter what. **Developer response:** Hi, Joey! Thank you for the review. As an FYI, you do not need to use the "Advanced Settings" to change the internet source in the app. Those settings are for more advanced features the majority of our users don't need to change. If you want to easily change the internet source (even when the unit is offline) you can hit the internet source area on the device's page to launch the configuration screen. Connected to Internet, Bluetooth the works won’t update when it says there is an update, have to reboot and start all over again. Bluetooth has to be constantly paired and when the dish finally responds it can’t find satillites. Shouldn’t be this difficult. **Developer response:** Hi, CappyJD! Please note that if you are using Shaw, they have taken a satellite offline so you will need to use manual mode to lock onto their one remaining satellite. ### 1/5 — Won’t connect and now the original “connect” app doesn’t work *2024-05-30* This system won’t connect to my Winegard connect 2.0. And now the original app won’t work either. It basically means I have a $400 piece of junk on the roof. **Developer response:** Hey, Big_Iron! Thank you for submitting your support request. In an effort to better protect your privacy we added a check before devices can be registered. Some older devices might have been shipped before we started the sync. Please contact us at developer@winegard.com! We can help get older devices setup to pass the check. Also, please make sure your device’s firmware is fully up to date. This is especially true on iOS! If the firmware is too old, the app and the device won’t be able to communicate. Let us know if you need help updating and we'll send instructions or have tech support reach out to you. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work and not user-friendly *2024-05-23, version 1.59.0* The few instructions available were likely written by the techies who had designed the app. So indeed it was all clear and easy for them. Obviously no user acceptance testing by mom & pop RV owners. ### 1/5 — The worst *2024-04-15* This app is terrible. It fails to connect to WiFi more than 75% of the time when I try to use it to boost the signal. This is in spite of being able to connect to the same WiFi with all other devices. It asks for a software update immediately after doing an update. I plan to throw out the Winegard along with this crummy app and try anything else. **Developer response:** Hi, there! Please feel free to contact us directly at developer@winegard.com! ### 1/5 — Nothing work !! *2024-04-03, version 1.56.3* Very bad application… Nothing work !!! ### 1/5 — Terrible replacement of Winegard Connected *2024-04-01* The RV Halo app is a horrible replacement for the Connected app. I have a Flatwave Amped Pro antenna. The Connected app allowed me move the antenna just inches and immediately see if the signal was weaker or stronger. With RV Halo there is a huge lag and the signal strength it shows seems to be questionable at best. On top of that, the RV Halo interface is not user friendly at all. I made sure everything involved was up to date and it still didn’t make a difference. I don’t know why this was viewed as an upgrade but Connected needs to be brought back or the way it functioned integrated into RV Halo. **Developer response:** Hi, Hokies13. Thank for the review. Unfortunately due to iOS security requirements we are longer able to have the Connected app be available. The Connected app stations/channels were also out of date since the database hadn't been maintained. This is hard to setup and then it is useless. I have to switch to the old Connected app to get that to work. The tap targets are too small. The UI looks like it was designed by one of those Chinese dev sweatshops, and the PM that approved this needs to find a new line of work. Typical push-it-out-the-door garbage. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2025-06-07* Every single time I go to use my motorhome I end up having to call technical support. I faithfully pay every month, and then never have the option of just clicking some button and having it connect. Always a hassle. If there is a different alternative, take it! I travel with my Starlink, and that is always faithful. I just didn’t feel like throwing it out the door tonight and decided to try this never reliable satellite. Of course it did not work. ### 1/5 — Horrible *2025-06-06* Absolute garbage! Created an account, signed into the account added our winegard rv router, and registered the router! Everything was working, next day, says I don’t have an account and the device cannot be registered again now! There IT department is absolute trash ### 1/5 — Admin password *2024-10-25, version 1.70.3* App always ask me for admin password but password of the winegard or the app does not work. Impossible to connect…. ### 1/5 — Does not work *2024-10-21* App recognizes and connects my device but when I am forced to register it (which it’s already registered) it says device not found (even though it is connected). Customer Service says it’s not worth using, to connect through the router, which doesn’t have all the features the old App had. **Developer response:** Hi, DJ! Thank you for the review. In an effort to increase security and better protect your privacy we added a check before devices can be registered into the system. Some devices may have shipped before we started the sync. If you contact us at developer@winegard.com with the MAC address of your device, we can manually verify your device so it can "be found" and you can register it in Halo. Please also note, the Halo system is completely separate from the outdated Connected system so previously registered devices will have to be registered into the new system. Also, please note that the new app has all of the features of the old app including new features such as setting the current SIM and having the ability to manage your Wi-Fi network. If there are any functions we missed or that you'd like in the app, please let us know and we'll make sure to get those added as well. Safe travels! ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Great app *2026-03-17* Have used this app in our RV for five years without a single issue. ### 5/5 — Easy operation of Trav’ler Pro ! *2025-07-05* I have been using the RV Halo app for about 2 years with my roof mounted Trav’ler Pro satellite dish. It makes deploying and connecting to the correct satellites easy. And then stowing the antenna for travel is just as easy. In these two years, I have made probably 20 to 25 trips in the RV which each included multiple deploying and stowing of the antenna. Only once or twice has the Bluetooth pairing with my iPhone got messed up. Resetting the indoor unit (IDU) and re-adding the device to the app was straightforward and well described in the owners manual. I’m very happy with the app ! ### 5/5 — (Edit) Support team helped with “Device already registered” *2023-12-08* **Updated** Following my review below AND an online support request, I received an email from “Scott” based on the review requesting my MAC address and two separate phone calls within five minutes of each other based on the online support request. As soon as I provided the MAC address, I got another email that I can log back in after five minutes and all should be good. I did and it was! I’m looking forward to seeing how this “new” app works compared with the legacy app that’s being retired. Kudos to Scott and the rest of the Winegard team for their outstanding support system! **Original Post** I can’t get my years old GW-1000 to work with this app. I registered it when I got it and it won’t let me get past the error. This app is useless to me. **Developer response:** Hi, His Doghouse Charters! Please email us at developer@winegard.com! We can clear the error for you. A device already registered error can occur if the device was registered under a different email address or if you have used the "Hide my Email" function on iOS. When you "Hide your Email" we cannot see it on our side so your device was most likely tied to an account anonymized and hidden by Apple. ### 5/5 — Great App *2023-09-07, version 1.25.3* Very easy to use and super helpful. A must have for any RV user. ### 4/5 — Good for Traveler *2024-06-29* I installed a Traveler Sat antenna and like using this app. It works 90% of the time the first time I use. I like that I can deploy and stow the dish from outside my motorhome so I can ensure there is no obstruction and that the dish stows all the way before driving. Not sure Azimuth numbers that show in the app are correct but I believe it is just getting it from the IDU which shows the wrong direction also. **Developer response:** Hi, Kpummill! Safe travels! ### 3/5 — Works sometime *2026-02-07* I have used this app for about 3 years and in the last couple months it disconnects and resets. It tries to update and fails every time. I have a good solid connection and no problems with any other apps. Not sure what is going on. I only use RVHalo for my Winegard Dish that is mounted on my RV. ### 3/5 — Better but still room for improvement *2025-02-02* Halo is a significant upgrade to the outdated and poor user experience of the old web based app. I’m giving it three stars because you cannot monitor data usage with the app. You have to call Winegard tech support. **Developer response:** Hi, PhiloTMcGiffin! After 6 1/2 hours of messing with the app and gateway, it finally recognized the gateway. Then had to update software and firmware on the gateway. **Developer response:** Hey, Jas! I received help directly from a developer and now have it up & running so if the registration process says your device is not compatible you should contact the helpdesk rather than just giving up. Since I only use the wifi and not any of the paid services I cannot comment on other functionality. Compared to my older ConnecT software, RV Halo spawns the same interface as the older software so I don’t see an advantage. I will need to travel for awhile before I can decide if this new software offers improved functionality. If I had the latest & greatest hardware then this software would certainly improve my experience. **Developer response:** Thank you for your review. The app doesn’t connect very well, and is inconsistent. Currently, I can’t select any wifi or cellular options, the app won’t let me select anything.
