About
RxTyper is prescription typing practice for pharmacy technicians and students.
You read a script and enter it the way you would at the counter — medication, date, DAW, quantity, days supply, refills, the sig, and the prescriber. Then you find out exactly what you got wrong. Not just "incorrect": which field.
WHAT YOU PRACTICE
• 900+ prescriptions across 22 dosage forms — tablets, capsules, ODT, oral suspensions, eye and ear drops, inhalers, nasal sprays, insulin pens, transdermal patches, creams, ointments, suppositories and vaginal inserts
• Sig codes — type the shorthand, watch it expand into the full instruction
• Days supply, which is a different calculation for every form: drops per mL, puffs per canister, units per pen including priming, whole bottles for suspensions, wear interval for patches
• Prescriber lookup, DAW, refills and date entry
INCLUDING THE ONES THAT ARE WRONG
Not every prescription that reaches you is correct. Some show a days supply the quantity will not cover. Some name a dosage form the instructions contradicts. Noticing that is the job, so the practice bank includes them.
A BREAKDOWN, NOT JUST A SCORE
Every answer is graded field by field — name, date, DAW, quantity, days supply, refills — and the instruction is broken down further into action, route, dose amount, frequency, special instructions and duration. When a sig is marked wrong you can see which part of it missed.
TRACK WHAT ACTUALLY NEEDS WORK
Overall accuracy, question-by-question review, and a running record of the mistakes you repeat.
PRO
• Unlimited practice — no daily limit
• Targeted days supply practice: drill one kind of calculation at a time — inhalers, insulin pens, drops, liquids, patches — instead of whatever comes up
• A calculations breakdown showing your accuracy per category, this week against last week, and the areas responsible for most of your errors
• Week-over-week statistics
• Custom sig codes — add and edit your own
• Detailed instruction error tracking
Without Pro you get 15 questions a day, every dosage form, and full answer breakdowns.
Every prescription, prescriber name, phone number, NPI and DEA number in the app is fictional training material. RxTyper does not connect to any pharmacy system and does not handle real patient information.

What's New in RxTyper
1.1.0
September 8, 2026
Dispense as Written Prescriptions can now be written for a brand-name product, and the DAW code decides what gets dispensed — the way a real pharmacy system does. Enter the code and the app selects the product for you. A one-time guide explains it the first time you open the typing screen, and it stays available under Help. More accurate marking • Prescriptions with two special instructions now require both — "with food" and "as needed for pain," not just one. • Instructions must name the dosage form's own unit: "1 drop," not "1."
