### 4/5 — Love it

*2022-08-18*

Too bad Vsco bought Rylo effectively killing off any software development. Regardless, the app still works with my iPhone and quite well.

### 4/5 — Oficial page closed

*2022-02-19*

Does anyone know where I can find the installer for macOS¿
They have closed the oficial page and I can’t find it anywhere

### 3/5 — Still no iPad app

*2020-04-14*

First off, the camera is great. Really great. On to the app: For what it does, it works well and its pretty stable. You can open a video, edit the viewpoints, and save it. But otherwise the app is very basic, lacks some basic usability and information that would be great to see. It’s like someone’s summer project, like a Proof of Concept without finishing touches. The file naming is GUID based and so you’re really stuck with the app to manage files. The lack of updates is frustrating, and there’s STILL no iPad app. It would be great to have a native iPad app that could read and store rylo files in the Files app. Maybe someday?

### 3/5 — Rylo

*2020-02-09, version 1.6.2*

Love the app. Gave it 3 stars though, because the camera does not sync with the app on my ipad pro. Only my phone. 👎🏽

### 2/5 — Não funciona com usb-c

*2019-09-28*

Infelizmente até o momento não conseguem solucionar a compatibilidade com USB-C presente nos iPads pro.

### 4/5 — I’ll change to 5 stars when there’s a remote

*2019-09-09*

I LOVE my Rylo 360! The Rylo app is great for managing and editing the content too. My only complaints are 1) No class C USB = can’t use my iPad Pro. 2) No Apple Watch app and no wireless remote option = limits mounting options on my motorcycles and kayaks to where you can reach the camera or phone. I’d LOVE to be able to control the camera with a stand alone remote (waterproof), my Apple Watch, or even my GoPro remote (least likely I’m sure)

### 2/5 — Save all

*2019-09-01*

Works but, it is tedious to transfer photos and videos to your phone. They make you go to each one to save, set 360, actually save, go back to photo, go back to table of photos, select the next one and then do that all over again. What is so hard about having it save all as 360?

### 4/5 — Was more perfect earlier

*2019-06-24, version 1.6.2*

First: I absolutely love this camera and the software. It’s fantastic.

The sole reason why I can’t give it a five star review is because of a recent update which changed the way the front-back feature works.

It used to be that when I framed the front back, it did not move. On one of the more recent releases, it seems that the front back now moves along with the internal Gyroscope.

So, where as before I used to set and forget the front-back. Now I have to constantly set the shot again and again depending on how the camera has turned even though the relationship between the camera and the front back shot is unchanged.

My YouTube channel “Peter Kay living in Hawaii” is 100% Rylo produced and you can see how the front back used to work.

I hope in future versions you can address this. It’s created a lot more production time for me now.

### 2/5 — Phone app

*2019-02-25*

This app is just a port of the phone app, not even the same functionality, but the same.

### 2/5 — If you like making silent action films, this is the camera for you!

*2019-01-02, version 1.5.3*

Rylo takes excellent video, has very intuitive software, and has excellent customer service, BUT it has the worst microphone design I've seen in a camera, and I know they know it, but lose my confidence not admitting it. The microphones are placed so close to the lens, its nearly impossible to place mufflers on it. My mistake was, I took days of video while skiing Taos Ski Valley in February 2018, but waited until December of the same year to encode it to upload to YouTube, and discovered that the audio is totally unusable. I had to replace all my audio with music. I also have an Insta360 ONE which I had mounted to my helmet to record from both. I've had to sync the audio from my Insta to use in place of the Rylo. Its too bad to, because the camera takes great video. They should start doing something to correct this issue for their customers instead of continuing to market the camera based merely on video, and hide the poor audio design. In my opinion, you cant claim you have an action camera unless it can perform adequately while moving.

### 1/5 — Flop update

*2018-12-14, version 1.5.2*

Rylo is a good entry level camera as far as 360 video capture goes, but the new update is a flop. I can record at the advertised 5.7k resolution, but the video will not play once connected to my phone (iPhone XS). In fact the app freezes and I have to force close. 4K still works fine however.

### 3/5 — Camera has promise

*2018-12-07*

The camera has promise, but isn’t quite there yet. It lacks editing capabilities like the Theta V, Insta360 One/X and other cameras have, such as ISO control, HDR, better app control like being able to set points for going in and out of tiny planet mode during video export, sharpening, noise reduction, dynamic range, etc. At $499, the camera and software should be able to do more than it does currently, especially when its competitors have already implemented these features some time ago.

### 4/5 — アプリアップデートで不満点

*2018-11-08*

ビデオ再生で、見ている方向を示すボタンと、ADD POINTのボタンが重なるのは非常に使いづらい。改良を望みます。
In video playback, it is very hard to use the direction indicating button and the ADD POINT button to overlap. I hope improvement.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Não conecta via USB-C

*2026-04-30*

Não está conectando com iPhone 15 pro via Usb-C

### 1/5 — Dead in the water. Avoid.

*2021-08-17, version 1.6.2*

I purchased a Rylo plus accessories two years ago, and discovered that they sold themselves to VSCO. For some reason, the footage recorded two years ago is now choppy and full of artifacts, and the camera is unusable. New footage is also terrible. I should have gone with GoPro, who albeit having much worse software and usability, was less likely to go away as Rylo has. One of my most costly purchasing mistakes.

### 1/5 — Should have went with go pro

*2020-12-06, version 1.6.2*

They sold the company and bailed. Rylo will soon be worthless.

### 1/5 — Unable to get beyond intro

*2020-08-24, version 1.6.2*

The app won’t let me 3D Touch in the intro tutorial making it unusable

### 1/5 — No longer supported

*2020-06-11, version 1.6.2*

Tutorials no longer work and you can’t update firmware. This company was sold to VSCO but who knows what that means for support

### 1/5 — Don’t buy

*2020-02-18, version 1.6.2*

Sadly Rylo don’t make cameras anymore. Any inventory you can get is what is left over at Best Buy. Warranties will be honored but steer clear as software is no longer supported and it won’t be long before the same applies to the hardware leaving you with an expensive dud.

### 1/5 — Out of business

*2019-12-01, version 1.6.2*

These guys are done. Last iOS update was 5 months ago. Rumor is that GoPro bought them. Do not purchase.

### 1/5 — Neat camera and app but . . .

*2019-11-08, version 1.6.2*

Couldn’t get neither the camera nor the app to work together. It’s not being picked via Bluetooth nor via cable. Camera turns on, able to make settings adjustments via camera but that’s it. With the app, I was able to download the project videos but the camera was not able to be detected. Using iPad Pro 12.9inch 3rd gen. Returning the camera for a refund.

### 1/5 — Picture quality

*2019-09-27, version 1.6.2*

Horrible picture and video quality specially at night.. 👎👎

### 1/5 — Awfully painful updates

*2019-05-25*

Good customer service, horrible updates. Maybe I got a bad camera but every time an update shows up my camera acts up and I spend 2-3 hours trying to get it fixed with the support from rylo.
I like the camera when it works, not the best picture quality either, and I totally hate it when an update is necessary. The worst.
For the money I paid for it, I am so not impressed with this camera.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best action camera in world

*2022-04-26*

What can I say really good hope more software update from Rylo though.

### 5/5 — App muy chula

*2020-08-13*

Falta prvisualizar foto y video desde la app y alguna cosilla mas

### 5/5 — Great camera and application

*2019-07-16*

Overall satisfied with both camera and app!!! Wish I was able to remotely activate with the Apple Watch!

### 5/5 — Incredible app and hardware

*2019-06-23*

I just got my Rylo in time for a summer trip to Europe and South America. I made sure to buy it a few days early to be able to test it out and decide whether to keep or return it. After just a few short clips and editing in-app it’s very clear I’ll be keeping the camera. I absolutely LOVE it! The software is just incredible; (a) it’s solid, very stable and reliable which is SO important, and (b) it’s intuitive and quick.

Please keep up the good work! And thank you so much for an awesome product :)

### 5/5 — Easy to use, would love one additional feature

*2019-02-25*

This app is super easy to use and it’s a breeze to frame your shots after you shoot.

I’d love to have a dedicated time lapse feature built into either the app or the camera itself. As it is now, it can be very time consuming (and battery draining) to export 5+ minute videos so if there was an easier way to make timelapses, I would be ecstatic!

### 5/5 — Better than GoPro in every way!

*2019-02-02*

This has easily become my favorite video camera to use everywhere. Finally a camera and app that reinvents unobtrusive filming. I just mount and record. No more worries about aiming and capturing the right moment, the software takes cares of it all. The software allows you to go back and aim the scene at any point and the stabilization is the best I’ve tested. The colors are easily tuned and editing is superior to GoPro. My only comment is that low light and night shots are not up iPhone X quality, but better than most. Well worth the $500!

### 5/5 — incredible product

*2018-11-25*

Rylo is an incredible product on its own. I love the frequent updates to add great new features. Thrilled to find out there’s an ipad app now! I wish the lens of the adventure case didn’t scratch so easily but it is what it is.

Trust me, pair this with an Oculus Go and you’ll wow your friends. I’ve had friends view my Alaska helicopter video and instinctively reach for the hand rails on takeoff as your brain is so thoroughly fooled. Keep going Rylo!

### 5/5 — Perfect

*2018-09-30*

Having the ability to shoot video of everything going on around me in high-quality without exerting any effort other than pressing record on the camera is an absolutely amazing experience. Using the app to put together a video exactly the way I want it is awesome too. Without Rylo you would need a bunch of equipment and a lot of experience to even try to come close, not to mention you would have to solely be focused on what you’re filming. With Rylo now I can put together amazing shots without missing a second of the actual moment

### 5/5 — Wow

*2018-09-09*

The new update to the editing software is impressive! With no download required to my phone prior to making edits it’s like I’m working with a powerful non-destructive editing program on my computer, and saving a tone of space on my phone. Partway through editing a video yesterday my Rylo ran out of battery...I thought the edits would be gone, but nope! As soon as I juiced up the rylo and plugged it back into my phone the edits were still there.

### 5/5 — Amazing camera and way better than any competitor out there!

*2018-07-06, version 1.3.0*

Love my Rylo! One of the best buys I’ve made!
