Just a couple notes to improve the app, main one: Please please, why do I have to hold down the start confirm button to start/stop the generator? It’s pointless and annoying, just let me click start and then yes to confirm. Even on the insanely rare chance a user accidentally presses to start/stop, why would it matter much? You’re wasting the user’s time for no reason. Simply get rid of that. I open the app to start it and stop it, make that quicker and easier please. ### 2/5 — Glitching bad! *2023-04-26* I don’t know what happened but this app used to run very well now when I open the app, it just wants to shut right back down again part of the time and the fuel gauge isn’t working. Just wondering what happened to it because it used to be pretty good something needs to be gone through and solve that issue please I’ve had to download the app three or four times now because I have to delete it and download it again I’m taking it that’s the problem but it’s not. Thank you Duayne. ### 2/5 — Crashes and closes *2022-09-21* It worked a few days, then every time the app conectes with the gen just crashes and closes. Please fix. ### 2/5 — Works, some what *2022-05-25, version 2.0.3* I have two generators. When low on fuel I get erroneous readings like 58000 watts being used or the fuel gauge will say completely full when it’s low on fuel. Auto shutdown is sketchy. Neither of my generators shut down when the timer ran out in fact one timer went back to 20 min and then said “Overload” even though nothing was plugged in to it. Had to shut both down manually. I didn’t have these issues when I used the generators last year before hurricane season. Maybe one of the updates is to blame. Unfortunately I will have to keep a close eye on them both if I have to run them this year. Shame, seems like this should be better not worse with updates. I have been a big Ryobi fan for years but the quality of their products has been continually heading South! ### 1/5 — Only partially works *2020-08-21, version 1.1.9* Due to an bug in the app you cannot turn the generator off from the app as advertised. Otherwise it’s great. But that’s one of the main reasons I bought this generator and it doesn’t work. ### 3/5 — Remote kill UI flukey *2020-06-12* Text is missing from remote kill pop up window. Press and hold on “yes” and wait for a yellow progress bar to complete engine shutdown. ### 1/5 — Remote engine stop doesn’t work. It restarts by itself. *2020-05-14, version 1.1.9* Please fix ### 1/5 — Generator will not shut off *2019-11-04* From brand new this generator shuts down on it's own completely randomly, yet will not shut down when requested to from my phone when I'd like to shut it down. Thanks! ### 3/5 — Bluetooth equals wifi on an iPhone *2019-02-24* While I love the generator I wasn’t fond that in an iPhone this program wants WiFi AND Bluetooth on. It wants cellular data in as well. This wasn’t true with my Pixel but apparently is on an iPhone. Why would a Bluetooth device need WiFi and cellular data (battery suckers)? ### 1/5 — IOS 11.1 *2017-11-10, version 1.1.2* I updated my iPhone to IOS 11.1. Unfortunately the app doesn’t pair with the new update. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Engine shutdown issue *2024-09-23, version 2.1.0* Engine shutdown from the App doesn’t work in 99% ### 1/5 — Utterly Useless *2024-08-14* Using this app with a brand new Ryobi 2300 Inverter Generator. Tank is full, generator is outdoors and vented into the yard, nothing is plugged into it. Generator working fine on its own. The app pops up “low fuel,” “CO,” and “system overload” warnings every few minutes. I’m 20’ from the generator as this is happening, so Bluetooth connectivity should be strong. App needs to be debugged and give better features. It’s silly at this point. ### 1/5 — Bluetooth connection. Won’t turn off. *2023-06-25* Bluetooth connection won’t re-connect when you come back with your phone. Engine won’t turn off via bluetooth, it just re-starts at the last second. Thanks! ### 1/5 — Generator disconnects immediately *2023-04-12* Bluetooth connection is made. Pairing mode display on generator goes away. Then it disconnects. Generator runs great but the app won’t show any statistics. Connects fine then just searches forever! Pretty disappointed. IPhone 11. Will be returning as soon as I’m able. ### 1/5 — Old version worked perfect, latest app upgrade crashes *2021-08-19, version 2.0.2* I’ll start off by saying the original app version worked perfectly, and I’d rate it a 4 star review. I was able to monitor loads and fuel from a semi-remote location. This new update, made this app garbage. The app will connect to the generator, then crash. I’ve done everything recommended regarding troubleshooting. At this point, there is a problem with the app. When they fix the bugs, I will give it a better rating. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t turn off *2021-04-01* I have it connected to my phone and everything else works except turn it it off from app. It slows down the engine all the way down and then engine kick right back up. Turn off timer does the same. Disappointed to say the least ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Excellent generator *2021-12-18* My Ryobi 2.3k inverter generator has been perfect, it is almost 2 years old and thankfully has 100 hours run time. The BT SW was never very good; I'm satisfied with the HW for my intermittent use. Nice features. A suggestion for future updates it would be great if you could add an alarm for low fuel , low oil , and a warning tone for high load. ### 4/5 — Great app, but I wish... *2017-11-08* Great convenient app , love the control to turn off from phone, backlite off option, and idle on and off option, one thing that would be a great addition would be a timed on and off idle option as is my case when I use my a/c I time it to shut off several hours later leaving the fan on in the cool room to keep me cool , extending the run time and switching the idle extending it further. ### 3/5 — App is great, but it no longer turns off generator *2024-11-11* I’d give this app five stars, but it no longer turns off my generator via the app. It gets it to start shutting down, then it starts right back up again. Which is a big deal. It’s a great generator at a costly price. One of the big selling points for me was the Bluetooth technology. Where I use my generator at, is at my cabin. It rains a lot and it’s nice to shut it off from inside. Come on fix this. Be proud of your tools Ryobi. Take ownership. Maintain your app. ### 3/5 — It an app *2023-07-25* Lacking in information. You have the information but no calculation… this is normal information for a device like this. If you now the capacity available in the batteries and the load being consumed, It would be very simple to calculate the “available runtime”or “time till shut down”. This information could be available in the app on its own screen or in the main screen. Giving us consumption wattage is great, battery load is good too but how long do I have till I need to replace the batteries? This is important data that would be very helpful to know. ### 3/5 — iPhone Bluetooth doesn’t shut down *2023-05-19* The iPhone app works, but the shutdown does not work. It shuts the generator down, but before the engine stops completely, it restarts. Frustrating. ### 3/5 — Needs work *2022-12-08* Great to monitor gen, which is a great unit. Bluetooth 70% of the time won't turn off generator, have to run out do it manually, and would be great if that bug was fixed or more explanation what issue is.
